I have made a temporary zip for the new ingame texture switcher until Frenden makes his own. I've moved the char.png to the mobs folder, added the new environment folder and moved the rain and snow images into it. I've also added a pack preview and basic description. I used ScottJ10s latest screenshot for the preview. You can download the pack here.
I've been working on making a version of this with colors closer to the arid pack, mostly for custom use but I figured I'd share it with everyone else too. Unfortunately, since 1.2.2 seems to have broken custom biome colors, releasing it now doesn't really do any good. Hopefully we won't have to further mod the game to get them to work.
I have to say this is now my default texture pack -- I tried several others including the excellent Painterly, but something about the Nintendo-ish clean simplicity of the Frenden pack just hits the spot for me.
This, combined with the ambient occlusion mod makes Minecraft look soooo much better than vanilla. I tried going back, but my eyeballs hurt.
Love it!
My only suggestions:
- Make the iron tools/weapons a bit brighter to stand out more from stone tools/weapons
- Personally I prefer a full moon to the crescent moon.
one thing i would like to see is the brightstone texture be changed, preferably to more of a lantern lantern type block and less like an ore. one idea i had was to make it kind of like amber, like a shiny resin type block that could look good inside and out of the nether. i think you could use your style to transform this block into something that would look great (i use brightstone as a lantern, and the ore look doesnt really fit to well >.>)
Hello, first post for me on the board :smile.gif:
Frenden, I LOVE your pack, its so cartoony and awesome. Really sends me back to my days playing animal crossing :smile.gif:
Also, I read on a different topic that 16x16 texture pack's water textures don't work but 32x32 texture packs are fine, so I blew up the texture.png file to 32x32 and it worked.
This is probably the only texture pack I'll ever bother downloading. It makes everything calmer, buildings nicer, and I bow down to your silver/gold/diamond blocks especially.

I second this. As it is, the lightstone should really be much more aesthetically pleasing but I think Frenden was just putting something out there so as to not leave us in the cold until he works on it some more.

I agree! The gold blocks are very pretty -- I built a golden fountain in my castle that sparkles in the sunlight and helps me forget the Creepers and the death and the horror of the night...
I"m just waiting for Frenden to update a file for the oficial texture support from Minecraft.
Also I wonder if the cobblestone is going to stay that way, it still seens a bit off...
ALSO This is the BEST pack ever, and I wanted to say "thank you" by donating to you Frenden, but i'm still not sure bout the amount lol, I can't donate too much, but I don't want it to be "too little" (Is that even correct?)
I am trying to make a sand texture that's more easily distinguishable from the wood but I'm having no luck, yet... Here's one idea...
but I think I might just have to change the brightness of the planks... it's extremely hard to tell the sand and planks apart in my inventory.
Why doesn't Notch just add the ability to make icons for the blocks, just like items.png does? I like both sand and wood the way they are now, the only problem I have with them is they look exactly the same as mini blocks in my item bar. A lot of texture packs have trouble with textures that don't scale down well, so this would be a win-win for everyone.
Ps. Thanks for making the best texture pack out there, I can't live without it :smile.gif:

Rather than making the sand look too different, have you thought about darkening the wood? If you look at the default pack the wood's a lot "richer" and darker. Something like that might help to distinguish them. :smile.gif:
P.s - If you do something like this, please share. The wood's way too bright for me at the moment. :tongue.gif:
Well, I've tried a few colors but I'm also afraid of it looking too much like dirt in inventory.
Here are a couple of different tints, the second one darker than the first:
You'll still have to use the mcpatcher to get that most likely.
yeah it looks like we'll have to wait for mcpatcher to get updated as well. bummer!!
I've never known CloudApp to be unreliable, but Ric has you covered with the mirror.
