I can't tell the difference. As far as I'm concerned any performance hits in this game are purely due to the way the maps are loading thousands of files every time you move.
No noticeable performance hit that I noticed either. I tested it out on two machines. One runs Minecraft poorly, the other doesn't. They both ran pretty much the same as far as I could tell.
One of the tiniest modifications to the texture pack ever - I think two pixel high eyes on the side of the cows' heads look really weird so I made them only one pixel tall. ;-)
I agree that the new ore textures, while actually nice, don't blend in nicely with the surrounding rock while blending in nicely with themselves - it looks as if they were being cut off at the sides. Perhaps another tiny mod I'll do, removing anything ore-specific within 1 px of the border.
Ah - and I think the pigmen should have a tiny bit more skin on their heads, to look like Terminators - kinda like in the default pack. In your pack their whole face is basically a skull, which makes them not stand out as former pigs. On the other hand, the limbs should have bones showing through here and there IMHO, instead of the occasional rotten patch.
My humble attempt (just the head, not the limbs):

Yay! I've now got the better water and lava working on my mac AND the ambient occlusion mod. The water looks great (though maybe the water animation when it's falling should have vertical instead of horizontal lines?) and the ambient occlusion complements frenden's pack perfectly!
Donated $3. I know it's not much, but when you consider that it's 20% of what I paid for the game originally, I hope it feels more substantial. You have done a great job.

Thanks so much! You've no idea how much I appreciate that!
Re: ore -- the ore was an experiment. I'll be returning it to the way it was, I think. It's too busy as is (even if it does tile better with itself, it doesn't tile with the rock that surrounds it this way).
The pigman I've yet to see in-game myself. I've been hopping between three computers all week and editing my texture pack on dropbox, lol.

I'm going to donate, too! I would have been making a texture pack that was based on the similar concept of making a colorful and clean style that works with the cubes but you've saved me that effort! :]
By the way, I know you'll be fixing the pack up to make it more readable in the future but I just wanted to add to that conversation that I find it particularly hard to differentiate the icons of the wooden planks and sand in my inventory. I'd also suggest giving the lines in the cloth *slightly* more contrast.

I'm imagining that paint.net is sufficient for adjust the brightness of a block in .png format.
But if you really don't know how to use it, one of us could always just cook up a new terrain.png for you to download.
Yeah, I'd also be happy to help out, if you can't figure it out yourself.
I was still getting stuck on that error that you said was caused by saving with Photoshop. I fixed it myself by opening & saving the images with another program like you said, but I thought I'd remind you since others might not know to do that.
I'm curious why only Photoshop seems to cause this, I'll try to figure it out if I have time, and hopefully it's a setting that can easily just be switched off.
Loving the newest update btw :smile.gif:
Edit: Very small note - I noticed your inventory.png and inventoryLight.png should be switched =)

When PS saves the files it appends metadata and color profile information by default. I try to make sure those settings are all unchecked, but occasionally one texture sneaks through. This doesn't cause everyone to crash, but seems to be the case with a few people, here and there. I'm resaving each image whenever I make a change and am trying to make sure all settings are optimal for MC compatibility -- bottom line, PS is bloated and thinks the images should be too with all sorts of superfluous info, haha.
Additionally, werner pointed out that one or two of the new images Notch made were saved at 96ppi instead of 72. If a 72ppi image is saved over the 96, it's causing some weird things like MOBs disappearing and stuff (I haven't seen that myself, this is his research).
I want to thank Ryan and Peter for donating! Thanks, fellas!

Retired StaffAwesome job on the texture pack there Frenden, I like. A lot.
I really like your revisions, particularly the ore. The pigmen revision is great because it's more obvious they are pigmen.
Thanks so much! You've no idea how much I appreciate that!

Also, any chance you'd make a lighter color dirt or dirt with lighter highlights? When I am mining I sometimes mistake dirt for open darkness.

Anyone got a copy of Minecraft handy that can post the particles png? I need to reskin the bobber and I'm on my work machine.
Download.
