*OFF TOPIC* How about a cartoony high res texture?
I'm working on such a pack myself, based on the idea that Frenden's designs are clean and eyecatching (his are my favorite for a majority of the block types), but I was curious to see whether higher resolution would lend itself even better to an abstract style. My theory was that at a higher res, you could show squares as not quite square, and lines that are skewed a bit... Basically make everything just a bit warped, which I figured would work really well with abstract patterns in the terrain.
So far, I like the results a lot; I'm making the textures as vector graphics in Inkscape and then exporting them to bitmap (right now at 64x64, but the output resolution isn't set in stone). This vector stuff is such a different animal from normal pixel art, but being able to resize, tilt, and skew parts of the image is absurdly helpful, and letting the bitmap conversion automatically handle the pixel blending removes so much of the grunt work of pixel art.
I don't know just how shamelessly my pack will look like Frenden's in the end. I'd like to share it when I'm done, assuming it doesn't end up looking like a blatant rip-off; surely a link to Frenden's as heavy inspiration will still be warranted, though. But Frenden, if you're interested in vector art, check out Inkscape if you haven't already. It's a little tricky to learn at first, but it can pull off some crazy tricks. Oh, and it's free and cross-platform. :smile.gif: The only downside is that it isn't immediately obvious how to come up with a pattern that tiles well (but it's not impossible).
I made one small edit, to match the mossy stone with cobble stone. I didn't notice it until I ran into a dungeon again recently. Gonna go saddle me some piggies now.
Hey frenden, the darker wood is missing from the download. and the old link is down. would you mind putting an alt folder? and where does everybody get that fishman? that skin looks RAD. lim-dul, can i have a download to your fishman tux skin?
thanks everybody.
Hi there (; i've decided to give your pack a try since so many other people are using it so i didn't want to miss out on all the fun and i have to say ... it looks very light hearted .. very cartoonish style . i really like it . So far, i've yet to confuse myself with any of the texture . so yeah . it's good awesome.
there are many good TP makers out there e.g. SoulScribe, Eld, Dusty, Dancrum to name a few ... but this certainly stands out .
I really like packs that differ from others such as Dancrum's animal crossing, your pack etc. This pack will certainly stay with me for a really long time (:

Are you aware that Ice can accept translucent textures?
I'm using your TP while making an ice fortress, and simply made the transparency higher. Makes a world of difference.
I did not know this. TO THE BATCAVE!

Yeah - great edit. The mossy cobblestone is in my list of updated textures for the next release. It didn't match/was muddy to look at. I came up with a slightly different solution than yours, but I like yours too!

Awesome, can't wait to see the revisions. More than glad to know you've got other ideas in mind, I didn't want to step on your toes so I try to keep my edits as basic placeholders.

I don't have any ego when it comes to that stuff. :smile.gif: Your revision is better than my current offering. I was lapse to update the viney cobblestone given how many iterations my cobble was going through.
I created some new ore blocks based on your ideas. I wanted something that popped out a bit more from the normal stone and this is what I've come up with, so far.
Suhweet.
Can you please give me that skin?

I loves me some Jason Voorhees. Easily my favorite slasher character.
I'm tired of ugly HD or realistic textures in a blocky game.
If you ask me, minecraft needs more of these cartoony low res textures. :smile.gif:

Except there's one slight annoyance...the wood isn't wooden enough...
Can you like make the wood 'wood'?
