I LOVE this pack. It's so simple and effective, I'm surprised no one did it before!
I just don't like the Wood texture. It feels more like 'steel bricks' than wood.
Could you PLEASE make wood 'wood'?
Or at least, for me~ <3 :biggrin.gif:
I agree. Everything is perfect except the wood. Not brown enough :tongue.gif:
He did guys. Sorry ya missed it, but Its on page 5.
Here it is:
He basically has two texture packs going. One light/steel looking wood and one dark/better looking wood. =P lol. Sorry Fred... just teasing ya. I know its like 50/50. =)
Edit: BTW, Fred, you should post the darker wood one the front page. Post the original texture, icon, gui, items THEN say in bold letters at the end "If ya hate the light wood heres a darker version of the wood: *image*" or something along those lines. *shrug* =\
Edit 2: I know its Frend.... but I like saying Fred. =P And I forgot to mention that the sheep skin looks much better.
Hey Frenden, I really really like this texture pack! I saw you mention upthread that you hadn't had a chance to test it out on a snow world, so I thought I'd take the liberty to do so for you. I think it looks great!
Ah! Awesome. Would have been nice if he had all the files posted on the original post, but never mind, fixed anywho :biggrin.gif:
I'm not going to aggregate everything and zip it all, etc, till it's all done. I'm updating everything several times a day during the week and editing that first post constantly would mean I'd never get anything done. :smile.gif:

Oooh. Thanks for that. First real shots of a snow world with my stuffs that I've seen. I generated a bunch of worlds on my end but never got one.
Love the pack- its the first texture pack that I've seen that I liked enough to actually install!
That being said I've noticed no one has posted any bricks in the wild so here's my home away from home for your viewing pleasure
And FIRE
Well my two cents from what I see is that brick is SUPER red compared to a lot of the other blocks. Bare stone is really busy when compared to cobble-which your pack seems to make MUCH more appealing. And finally the fire texture still being the original looks really out of place, but that's all in good time.
The only bitterness I have with this is that it's ALMOST Wind Waker like. Not that that's a bad thing but if you could make a MORE Wind Waker focused pack, I'd LOVE YOU MORE (if that's possible) :biggrin.gif:

Howdy. I just wanted to let you know, Frenden, that I've been playing with your texture pack all weekend, and I love it. It is desperately awesome. Can't wait to see how it develops. The wood, in particular, I really like. That high contrast between the dark bark and the light-colored wood is beautiful. I'm also a special fan of the clay.
I hope you're interested in some constructive criticism, because I have some:
When people complain about the wood being too light, and the sand, and being unable to distinguish between stone and cobblestone, etc., I think they're touching on *the only* issue that I had with this pack -- readability. The designs of the individual tiles (except for obsidian) is gorgeous. But the color palette is so limited that it sometimes becomes hard to tell the different blocks apart. Especially when viewed in the inventory screen.
Any chance of taking this into account and making some changes in the variation of colors? Even slight changes would do wonders, I think.
Thank you for the great work. I can't wait to see the mobs.
I'm starting to revisit things tonight. I'm going to shoot for 100% ready by end-of-week.
I've changed the hue of the wood a bit in this test png. It allows for a slightly warmer feel without sacrificing the lighter value too much. It seems to more closely mimic the original texture from what I can tell at a glance.
I've tried to keep things at a limited color palette to create a sense of continuity in the visual theme. This small change amounts to a big impact in game, but I think it largely alleviates the issue you cite.
For instance, now, the only blocks using the same slightly-green-hue as the sand are the cacti innards.
Give this a shot and see what you think:
If the consensus is positive, I might make this the default wood and the lighter wood the alternative.

Funny I was just working on modifying just the rgb levels of your pack just a bit for my liking... and now that I'm finally finished what I wanted to do, I now check the forum to see that you updated it! Here is what I did end up with though... I think gravel needs to be tweaked somehow, but not sure how it should be...
Now to try your new update!
*EDIT 1* I said cobblestone before.... I meant gravel *EDIT 2* halved my yellowish adjustment to the wood, I think its just right for my liking now *EDIT 3* Decided to keep the wood a lot closer to default, but the extremely minor color tweak goes a long way (also the wood change reflects on the torches, chopped trees, and the windowed edges of wooden doors...only other things tweaked are the leaves on trees and dungeons, along with the cactus's)

I'm making two texture packs but am yet to get them to a point that I'd like to show people.
But this is so simple and suit the game so well, I'm loving it.

Hey frenden's you plan to take a look at cobblestone again?
Maybe. I've done about four versions and I think I might wait until I finish the mobs before I hit cobblestone again.
