A small sampling of a different graphics pack I'm working on. I'm taking the year or so of pixelart refresher course I've gotten and making something. It has an overly ornate gothic cathedral sorta vibe. I'd post the rest, but there are several textures yet unfinished and they look weird next to the new, more detailed stuff. Still native resolution (16x16 pixels for each tile).
The grass suuuuucks and, like many other bits, is totally placeholder.
Holy crap... that water and lava looks absolutely amazing! I'm really looking forward to seeing this alt. pack progress.
Though, I definitely liked the planks and "inner layer" of the logs more when they were tan. I'm just so used to it that it looks unnatural when it's dark.
Such an inspiration, Frenden. In fact; I'm tempted to stop work on my pack and just use your work exclusively. I really look forward to the finished product.
The details are getting really really nice! Good idea to launch it as a new pack, avoids a lot of drama! why don't you go ahead and make it three packs? Classic, Pirate and 'Ornate Gothic'? But I guess maintenance of 3 packs can be a hassle.
If you want to create a customizer, you totally can :ohmy.gif:!
You could use this, which would be an actual application, or you could go with something made in Photoshop or another similar software.
I found a really good way of making terrain customizers in Photoshop a while back and was gonna make a tutorial but got lazy. I was actually using your texture as an example cause I got the idea from your own system, and if you want you can use it. It's pretty straight forward, you just place each alternate texture over its appropriate spot on the terrain in a new layer and then group them by folders and whatnot. Transparent textures get their own layer as well so you hide and unhide as needed. It's pretty simple haha.
The textures are outdated, but you could update it yourself if you want. I think it's better than your current system and if I'm not mistaken, it can also be done in programs like GIMP or Paint.net as well.
Here are some random screens - Keep in mind that these are heavily WIP and is probably not what some of these textures will look like in the final product. The biome colours are minecraft default.:
Can't wait to see this with proper biome colours and a completed terrain! :biggrin.gif:
I'll be honest....i hate this texture pack as it doesn't look realish or my stytle I dislike the cartooney feel of this texturepack......BUT....I find myself downloading it for the skeleton mod and creeper mob. I love their 32 bit textures :3 good work to whoever did them. (Great job!)
(Crossed out part of post and retyped it as i didnt wanna seem rude :s)
dont let him die click!!!
Oh, and are those shingles I see? I wish more pack creators made them, we need more materials for roofs.

I was going to say something similar about the tree "trunks" (outer-sides of tree block)- The detail is *really* rich.
I'm curious - is this the future face of 'Frenden's Texture Pack,' or just a possible fork?
Ooh that's looking great! I see what you mean about the grass, I like the one you posted earlier much more.
I can't wait!
x2 version of things up to this point. Grass is still being worked on. It's the only texture I hate making, always.
