First, I just want to say that your entirely awesome Xau - it's really great to see someone making an awesome patch and then working really hard to keep supporting it and providing great help to idiot users like me. Thank you. I also apologize sincerely if this question has already been answered - I have searched through the 2000+ replies in this thread and as best this specific question hasn't been answered.
Basically, this patch both does and does not work for me. By itself, the patch works - tested extensively using Aza's Arid Texture Pack and 128x128 graphics, or alternatively using KDStudios' Realistic Texture Mod and 256x256, both with animated water/lava/fire and custom water/lava, and in both cases the patch works great, the textures displaying properly and everything with absolutely no crashes or errors or problems of any kind. Except that then I can't use any mods.
If I install the patch with no mods, it works, if I install the mods with no patch, it works, if I install the patch and the mods, blackscreen. I would post the results from the patch's 'Test Minecraft' function, but because this only happens when the patch and mods are both installed, then I can't actually run the patcher, as Minecraft.jar has been modded.
I have tried this with many different mods to no avail, the most stable and idiot-proof being the Minecraft Community Patch 3.1, installed with TFC's Mod Manager Version 13.0, which all works perfectly by itself, but will not work if I use the patcher first, then install the mods, regardless of what texture pack I use (and even if I use the patcher and 32x32 textures and no texture pack, which still works, until I install mods, then blackscreen). I am using the latest version of Minecraft (Beta 1.2_02) on Windows 7 64-Bit.
If there's any extra information I should be posting please let me know.
I would greatly appreciate any help anyone can give me with this, because given that all HD texture packs rely on this patch, atm it's either graphics or mods. And theres so many good options for both. :sad.gif:

I've searched this thread and the same problem keeps coming up for Mac users, but I haven't seen any resolution.
I am trying to install Tronic (v7). When I run MCPatcher, it hangs at different percentages every time I run it. Once in a rare while it gets to 100% but hangs there. I've checked and it does complete the patch when it gets to 100% but I have to force quit MCPatcher.
I've tried running it on a variety of texture patches with completely clean Minecraft installation and every possible combination of the options checkboxes (it seems to average a higher percentage before the hang when custom lava and custom water are turned off).
I have also tried a variety of java arguments and different memory sizes, but it doesn't seem to affect it at all.
Is this a known issue that you're working on or is it something I should try to fix myself by pulling your Github repo?
Thanks for all the efforts!
Update:
I ran MCPatcher through the profiler that comes with the Mac JDK and can see that it's definitely hanging up, but because of the obfuscation in the JAR file I can't provide any details. If you have a debug version of the JAR I could profile it and send you the app snapshot if it would help track down the problem.
I have carefully read the whole first post but I cannot get the patcher to work.
It gets to about between 10-15% and then my screen goes black and the entire computer locks up HARD. I have never seen my computer lock up like that in the entire 2 years I owned it. I tried repeating, but it just crashes again. I have to hit the hard reset to reboot.
No errors can be seen, no log files can be found. It straight up halts dead at 13%.
I tried both the windows exe and the jar file, both did the same thing. I run windows xp sp3 with the latest java and system drivers.
I tried to search through google and search the forums but did not turn up anything. Also, I refused to look through all 75 pages of this thread, so sorry if it has already been noted and solved. Those details should have been moved to post 1 if they exist.
EDIT, I have discovered that this patcher is actually doing something to turn my video card off, or to some resolution it doesn't support. By changing my desktop to a different resolution, it gives me a 15 second timer to click OK or it changes back. By getting that going, I then ran the patch. After 15 seconds, the video card came back on. The patch log appears to show everything has worked successfully, however when I test the game, it just shuts the card off again, and when I refresh it with the resolution trick again, everything is closed and gone.
hi i get this error
There was an error opening minecraft.jar. this may be because:
- The file has already been patched.
- There was an update that this pacther cannot handle.
-There is another, conflicting mod applied
- the jar file is ivaild or currupt.

u cant use this patcher if u deletet the meta-inf directory. oh, and u shoudnt use it if ure using a texturepack .
Um I deleted the Meta-Inf directory before using this patcher and it worked fine. I deleted it for the Optimine and McRegion mods to speed up my framerates. No problems on my end.

the patcher also automatically deletes it for you.
I'm new to posting stuff on the web.
I love your mod and would really like to includ it in a mod pack containing 70+ of the top rated mods (including yours).
However, it occurrs to me that not everyone wants spontanious growth/redistrabution of thier work.
May I have your permission to continue to include your mods in AMCO?

Now normal minecraft isn't working either. When I open the download file, it just shows a black screen. When I try online, it starts a "Updating minecraft" loading bar that never fills up.
I have read the entire first post and looked some to see if anyone had the same problem, but didn't find it.
I followed the instructions in the first post, but when I test minecraft, it's still the default texture pack.
Here's the code thing.

Ive been having struggles with the patcher because it wont let me select my minecraft.jar
In the "Original" bar, my minecraft doesn't automatically show up, so i try to find but I can't.
Ive tried typing it, then it gives me an error saying that it cannot find the file.
Ive tried making shortcuts but they don't show up when I try browsing my desktop.
I'm not sure what else I can try.
Please respond helping me with this problem.

No programs run in the backround. I have an ATI 5870 1gig with the latest drivers. Any idea?

and the mods i'm using :
kings mod
mo creatures
gls shader
mc region
crazy recipice
tree drop appels
ore madness
mod loader
audio mod
gui api
Um I deleted the Meta-Inf directory before using this patcher and it worked fine. I deleted it for the Optimine and McRegion mods to speed up my framerates. No problems on my end.
the patcher also automatically deletes it for you.
I'm new to posting stuff on the web.
I love your mod and would really like to includ it in a mod pack containing 70+ of the top rated mods (including yours).
However, it occurrs to me that not everyone wants spontanious growth/redistrabution of thier work.
May I have your permission to continue to include your mods in AMCO?

Thanks a lot.

THE MOST AMAZING REDSTONE GAME: viewtopic.php?f=1020&t=302452
I followed the instructions in the first post, but when I test minecraft, it's still the default texture pack.
Here's the code thing.
Placed patcher in .minecraft/bin dir, error gone.
