I have a suggestion: Xau, you should code your HD texture fix directly into the .class files then send out the minecraft.jar file for people to download. This way it would be directly coded into the game with no need for a separate program. I'm pretty sure you know most of this, but:
1) decompile the .class files in minecraft.jar
2) copy/paste the code into a java developer tool
3) edit what you want
4) create a new java class file using the newly edited code
5) use the javac command to turn it into a .class file (use the same name as it had originally)
6) use winRAR or 7zip to open the minecraft.jar file
7) drag the new .class file into the .jar file
8) test Minecraft to see if it works.
You never know, Notch might want to discuss this fix with you if you code it directly into the game.
Any word on this possibility? I'll be glad to test for you if that helps.

Probably. I don't know anything the patcher does that would cause an error like what you posted, so maybe it is a problem in another mod or the patcher is creating a problem in another mod.
Hello, I'm having problems with "JohnSmith Texture Pack" and have followed all guidelines in the first post.
I am new to Minecraft and was suggested to download a texture pack and so "JohnSmith Texture Pack" was my choice currently on V6. On the forum post here: ( viewtopic.php?f=25&t=29164 ) the creator recommended to install MCPatcher to help everything run smoothly. So I downloaded the texture pack, then this patch, applied my OS version patch to the MCPatcher, opened the MCPatcher, saw the Original and Output fields already located, checked the Texture Pack box then opened the file where the texture pack was located. Then I proceeded to choose the correct tile size (32x32) and clicked the "Patch" button. After 100% completion I clicked the "Test Minecraft" button and opened my singleplayer World 1 game. But there were no changes in the textures, please help!
Is there any way you could upload the file on a non secure website? I am on a mac and for some reason I can not visit and websites that are https. Thanks.

That pack comes as a .rar file, which contains a .zip file which is the actual texture pack. You need to unrar it and read the instructions, and select the zip file when patching.
If you select a texture pack and it doesn't automatically set the tile size to the correct value, then there is probably something wrong with the pack.

ok so for anyone who cares. I went into my texture pack and played with all my image sizes to try and get them as uniform as possible. it turns out that my my kz.png (art file) was WAY to huge and only our multiplayer world had any pictures in them otherwise it would have crashed in single player as well
xau, this will probably be a hard sell, but is there any way you could tell the patcher to detect the "wildGrass" folder (and its contents) in the root of a texture pack zip and install it with the rest of the files?
A lot of people are using the wildgrass mod these days, and the current installation process requires the wildgrass texture folder to be copied into minecraft.jar separately after installing an HD pack. That might not sound like much of an inconvenience, but being able to distribute all my textures in one file instead of two and not having to provide special instructions to install that portion of it would make a big difference
If you don't want to get in the habit of making specific exceptions for individual mods, could you just tell the patcher to copy ALL files inside a texture pack zip into minecraft.jar when patching? That way just about any special non-standard textures could be installed in a single step.
