Some strange luck that my last texture pack release just before your update included my custom portal animation on accident, and it works just fine without any editing required. Keep up the great work!
I'll repeat this since I probably didn't give enough information last time.
With custom water enabled, still water isn't animated. Also, flowing water animation is now super fast (as in it looks like it's going like 100 frames per second). I'm using a 16x16 texture pack, and my custom_water_flowing.png is 16x1024 while custom_water_still.png is 16x1536. The custom water is from painterly and has worked fine with previous versions of the patcher.
I've been using the patcher since it was released way back in October sometime, and I've been using the same method to get custom water ever since. I drag the 2 water animation files into the minecraft.jar, and then I run the patcher with these options selected.
Any idea what's up?
EDIT: I deleted minecraft.jar and renamed minecraft-1.2.jar (the backup file the patcher creates) to minecraft.jar. I then ran the patcher again and it worked fine. WTF, lol? I guess it was just some random computer anomaly.
What you do to fix it is
1 - default minecraft
2 - open minecraft.jar with winrar
3 - open your texture pack of choice
4 - drag your texture pack files into minecraft.jar
5 - close everything
6 - run the patcher and don't check the texture pack box
7 - ??????????
8 - Profit
I'm on a mac so I don't have WinRar and even when I restart the MCPatch app it says that the minecraft.jar cannot have anything done to it and it comes up with the error message from my previous post :S ?
You have to default the minecraft.jar, the file has been patched
Just delete the version file in mc/bin

also macs suck for gaming
macs are actually decent for minecraft and getting better at gaming but cant stand up to a custom pc, but anyway instead of winrar use betterzip its not free nor is winrar so u right click the minecraft.jar open with better zip drag and drop hit save enjoy your mods =)

I have a question, how do you get rid of the patch? I need to know the name of the file to uninstall it. When ever I try to search for it nothing comes up. And now when ever I try to play minecraft it just crashes.

I just found how to do it but it cost me my worlds that I had because I couldn't find the saves and also I felt like a new start, but I used AppZapper and dragged Minecraft.app which found all files relating to Minecraft and zapped it and emptied my trash and re-downloaded minecraft from the website and then logged in and it now works. Hope this helps any mac users with the same problem but if you want to keep your saves then duplicate them and put them somewhere to keep while you download minecraft again. Thanks for the help guys.

Okay question, I'm working off of a Macbook Pro. The texture pack I'd like to use is in a folder and not in a .zip file. I try to use the folder as the texture pack but I'm not allowed to select the whole folder for use. I hope I didn't miss anything anywhere but I'm at a loss here. Could I get some assistance?

You need to have a custom potal png thats like the animated water/lava pngs i think
get rid of the vershion file (typo)
you souldve backed up your saves
I've also tried running the Linux version instead of the Windows version, with the same result.

i do it just as said, adn it has been happening for a while, it loads the mojang image, then crashes (using bropaint btw)

i didnt download this pack, i edited a few tiles from one in photoshop, replaced the png for one file. thats all
