the only way i can even use texture packs in the first place is to put them in a folder with minecraft and run it that way.
That's not true, you can install them into the minecraft.jar archive
I did that, and patched the .jar, but when i open minecraft it still crashes.

i don't have a .jar file
Yes you do, everyone has one, you just have to find it
Obviously you know where the "texturepacks" folder is, well just open the "bin" folder right above it
I found it. I don't use a mac much so i'm like eh? D: and you are correct. idk how to navigate around my harddrive. i'm a little confused now after i did what i was supposted to and its still crashing. screenie in a sec.
Patched, and then i did this. i think i did it wrong but idk.
I already successfully installed Misa's HD texture pack before beta. Now when I play beta the texture back is reset to default. I have used the latest MCPatcher and tried numerous times to install this texture pack but it is still not working. Does anyone know how to get these textures installed with MCPatcher on Minecraft Beta?
Here is the settings I have:
Tile size is 64x64
Options are yes to animate water, lava and fire. Where should the output be?
!!!"Seemed to work again after I patched a different texture"!!!
if it does work on mac's, and theres a special way to do it that i missed please tell me :biggrin.gif:
It's the same as for everybody else. Open the patcher. Pick your texture pack. If you don't have the pack as a .zip then make one or go download it again. Click patch. If you're digging around in your minecraft folder or putting textures in the directory with the launcher, you're doing it wrong.
i really appreciate you being so speedy with the updates. but... the problem with the game being patched to alpha 1.2.6 still persists for me. im using aza's arid 128x128 pack and every time i patch the game to use this texture pack, it always patches me back to alpha 1.2.6. i cant go on SMP with that version anymore. any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated.
EDIT: NVM! it worked this time for some reason. i dont know what the problem was but its fixed now. thanks for the speedy update. you rock!
If anyone is having wierd, no-error-given crashes, check for texture packs in your texturepacks folder. I had temporarily used a painterly pack and Minecraft was closing with no apparent error until I removed it.
OpenSUSE 11.3 / Minecraft 1.1_02 / mcpatcher 1.1.10_01 / 64x64 textures based on Misa's overhaul.

Getting this while using the latest version of ModLoader (just modloader, no other mods) and BG + BL.
All tiles checked (custom water, custom lava etc.)
Ok. I did something really stupid. While in game I changed from the default to another texture pack and started up a save file. Now Minecraft wont start up correctly and I get a black screen. I dont know if someone had a previous post on this but my computer is acting unusually slow today and so I didnt search it. My question is.. How do I fix it?
Edit: I deleted the minecraft.jar and the world isnt falling apart anymore. grr panicked for nothing.
How do I reset my texture to default? Because even when I take mine out of my MC folder my texture's stay put in the game. Iv'e had to re-install this game several time's with and without the texture. And for some reason whenever I put the patched texture's in my MC folder when I start the game it just quit's after the Mojang logo has been up for a few sec's. Any solution?
I have just installed the newest versions of Minecraft, Glimmar's Steampunk texture pack and this patcher. I do exactly as described when patching, the patcher fills out the two first bars itself, the one called "Original" and the one called "Output". In the third bar, the one called "texture pack", I browse and insert the zip file of the modded texture pack. Then I press patch, and it patches.
It works perfectly fine with the newly patched modded texturepack, but when I go into the ingame texture pack changer to change the pack back to the default texture, it has been overridden by the modded texture pack, so that the pack called "Default" is the same texture as the modded pack.
What did I do wrong?
I still want minecrafts default texture as well as I want a fully working Glimmar's Steampunk texture.
Read this. post. All of it. Notice the things you missed when you didn't read it, as you obviously haven't. For instance, the portion where it indicates that this works by replacing the default texture.

Delete the .jar and force the game to redownload it.
If you have no "original or output" then your minecraft jar isn't or hasn't been patched to the latest. If you look at the bin folder, and have patched before, you will see a minecraft.jar and a minecraft-1.0.2.jar (or 1.0.1.jar).
My advice is to delete the bin folder, run MC and let it download. Xau's patcher will see the directories fine

I keep getting an error message upon selecting Singleplayer. The game works fine I delete the bin folder and try again without the patch, so I know it must be the patcher. It reads as follows:
Minecraft has crashed!

Just wondering if anyone else noticed that Notch added tool tips finally. The problem is the tool tips are killed by this patcher. I didn't see any other posts mentioning this so I thought it should be noted. Great job on this patcher and I can't wait for the next version (hopefully with tool tips )
Okay so, I tried to run Aza's Arid Pack, not realizing I had to patch. I put the arid pack into the texture pack folder, went to use it in Minecraft, and the game froze. I tried to re-open it, but it always freezes at the Mojang screen. I figured out that I had to patch the texture pack and followed all your instructions, but I get a black screen after the Mojang screen.

This patcher doesn't touch the hb class, but ModLoader does.
Maybe you aren't using the latest Minecraft.

I have 1.0.2 beta
