Everytime i use the patcher the client (1.2.6) is downgraded to 1.2.2 version... why?
Thanks for the titan work you give us!
I get the black screen everytime I patch whether I tick custom water/lava or not :\

Exception in thread "main" Plus the minecraft folder doesn't open through the program :sleep.gif:
Says that when i try to run minecraft through the program, and it doesn't run minecraft, the custom water and lava don't flow like they should, and yes I've tried unchecking the options, still doesnt work
I then realized that the reason I was getting the black screen (and the open GL error) was because I had a texture pack that was enabled from the in-game menu. I restored my options folder, loaded MC and switched back to default textures (from the in-game menu) and repeated the install process and everything works fine. Author may want to put this in the first post. I don't recall seeing it there, probably because the in-game texture loader was recently implemented. I posted this to try to save other idiots like me some time. If this was mentioned in the OP, I apologize in advance for my stupidity.
It is in the OP and the post above yours but I think your post is still helpful and am quoting it so more people might see it.

hi, i keep getting this error message, please help
The message window that pops up already has all the help I can give you, except the possibility that you are just running an outdated minecraft.jar.

The only way I can get my 128x128 texture pack to work is by putting it in minecraft.jar and then applying the patch. Please help! I want to be able to put my texture pack in the texture pack folder and NOT minecraft.jar.

It's patching the minecraft.jar in the same directory as the patcher, instead of the one you actually play from. Put the patcher in a different directory without a minecraft.jar.

How do I use mods with this HD Fix?
Install the mods, then run this patcher.

Now that SMP Health is out I was stoked to try the 256x256 patch option, only when launching the client after the "successful" patch, I get this:
java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: 262144
That doesn't work BECAUSE your computer Might not be good enough to run a 256x256 Pixels. I can't even run a 128x128 or above texture pack, cause my computer sucks so bad!
That's not why it doesn't work.

So I'm not sure if its my computer or minecraft or my luck, or something I did wrong.
But I get this error after selecting a 64x64 or 128x128 pack in game as well as every time I try to start the game after selecting said pack I get the same error. After removing said pack I can play again. So I'm completely stumped on the issue.
java.nio.BufferOverflowException
at fu.a(SourceFile:148)
That error suggests you didn't patch or didn't patch for the right resolution. Choose the pack in the patcher and replace the default textures with it. The patcher replaces the hard-coded "all textures are 16x16" with "all textures are 64x64" (or whatever size you pick), so replacing the default textures is the only supported method.
Does everyone else's comp dim down and shows a message (with a shield thingy) and ask if you want the program to make changes to the computer? It looks freaky and not sure if i should run it.... O.O
PS: i'm downloading per suggestion from the JonhnSmith texture pack thread....

I've been creating a custom 16*16 texture pack and I downloaded this program to help replace everything that Notches texture replaces(for whatever reason) doesn't.
I get Lava and Water working just fine but for the life of me I cannot seem to figure out Custom fire animations... I've been through every page here and just don't see it's instruction. Sorry for the bother, it just bugs me that I have blue flamed torches but not blue fire...

Very the opposite for me; I can't play minecraft WITH it.
I will explain my situation. I downloaded a Tron-ish texture pack with high definition, and the same with one called Scribblecraft. It crashed my game, so I saw I had to have MC-Patcher. I downloaded, got the texture pack up and running, but it lagged a lot. So, I decided to change back to default. After a minute of closing and opening minecraft, I finally realised that my default had been changed to the Tron-ish one. In a panic I deleted both of the high resolution ones. I then proceeded to open minecraft. I got a black screen. I did this several times. Nothing.
Any help? I may be good at games, but when it comes to coding and moding, well let's just say you would have better luck trying to give a creeper a hug. Please help!
Is this able to connect to servers? Whenever I launch minecraft.exe from the patcher it does not prompt for a login and when I try to connect to a server it says bad login.
I can get texture packs to work(128x128) in single player, but I can't get them to work on a server.
If I use the original minecraft.exe, the game will not load the 128x128 texture pack.
What did MissMonster do?:
*Followed walk through (Added files for lava/water into the minecraft.jar directory from John Smith texture pack)
[in John Smith pk read me file, it mentioned when using this texture fix to change 16x16 to 32x32]

*Ran my downloaded Minecraft.exe from desktop, login...

The fire sprites are in the file called particles.png in the root of the minecraft.jar archive. I don't think the HD Texture patcher even looks at this file, you'll need to install it yourself.
For that matter, if you're making a 16x16 texture pack, you don't even need this patcher, just arrange all your files in the correct folder structure, then zip them up preserving paths and place the new zip file in the texturepacks folder under your minecraft folder. As long as you have everything in the correct place, minecraft will use the textures in your pack instead of the default ones. Be sure to delete the stuff in the bin folder first, run minecraft to download a new copy and then place in your texture pack zip file.

My problem is that i simply cannot select my texture pack (Aza's Arid). I check off texture pack and select 128x128, but when I browse the texture pack tab, and click on my texture pack, it makes me open the folders inside the pack and individually select each item, and even at that I ultimately cannot open the item. Is there a different way to do this on a Mac that isn't in the first post? Thanks.

Is the whole pack in a compressed folder? If not just make it a .zip, (or whatever macs use...) if it is compressed, then I don't know...
My experience, you have to do these things, in this order:
1. remove all packs from the folder
2. delete your bin folder (this gets rid of stray files from one pack to the next and the size issue)
3. run MC
4. close MC after it updates and click on nothing else in MC
5. add the pack and only that pack (seems for me, only the 64x64 and above need this)
6. run Xau's fix
7. click the browse button for the texture pack
8. either select the pack and click "open", or just double click the pack (hasn't failed yet when they are both on the same version)
9. click patch
10. close the patcher and do not run MC from the patcher
11. run MC via the exe or shortcut to it
12. click on the texture pack mods button and make sure it's selected
13. play, fight, build
I've been testing packs all day....cause I had the time and getting over being sick. Every time I did this, it worked. No exceptions. If you are like me, you'll do this over and over. But if you just mostly play a couple of packs or even just one, it's not that tedious.
*I should add that not once today have I had to check or uncheck the boxes for lava/water.
Just tested Azra's - worked
Tested:
Mine, Glimmers, Crayola, Rez's Tron (that was hard but isn't finished), Mixcraft, Runesmith, Albion, and mine again
