Do not. I repeat, DO NOT try using this fix with the current update. It CAN and WILL break your minecraft. Make sure to backup your single player saves somewhere if you have any.
works fine. just uncheck custom water and lava
Same here, worked fine as long as I turned off the custom water and lava options for now.
I didn't even turn off custom water and lava and it's working fine for me. Also, I really doubt that people's saves would be corrupted because of texture errors.
HD Texture fix working fine, in combination with MrM's latest AO and BetterGrass, and Brown & Bloom 1.2_01 Classic 32x32 texture pack, with custom water and lava UNCHECKED.
AO working, BetterGrass working, biome colour changes working, all texture glitches not-present and accounted for, including in Hell. Both compass and watch appear functional.
Remember that you have to have a texture pack of the appropriate 'resolution' (32x32, 64x64, 16x16, whatever) for the texture pack you want to use chosen in Notch's texture picker in the vanilla client and saved to your preferences BEFORE applying Xau's patch, or you will blackscreen.

Okay, so I am attempting to re-do my personal texture pack, this time with all the added parts edited and not just terrain.png. I've gone through and shamelessly taken from almost every 128x128 pack released on this forum (for personal use, mind you, not redistributing anything) and pieced together a sort of 'best of' compilation. After doing this, I pack it up, and use the patcher (skipping custom water & lava, as advised)... and every single time it hangs on "Reading misc/dial.png..." and 86% completion. Doesn't matter which dial.png I use, heck if I delete dial.png entirely it still hangs there. It doesn't do this with any other pack I have, just the custom one I've stitched together. I've honestly exhausted all possible causes I can think of, the layout of the pack is identical to all the other packs I've got, every single individual piece works in it's original pack, but for some reason it just does not work at all in the custom pack.
Slowly losing patience here. Anyone have any idea or tips on how to get this working?

This^
I already played with three different packs since the update. You have to do what it says on the first page, then patch without custom water/lava. I'm even able to switch pack in game after that with no problems.

@xau: Out of curiosity, have you by any chance tried submitting this code to Notch, or at least what the problem is? I'd imagine correcting the problem in the first place would go a longer way than even the patcher working with the current version. Although, I know Notch seems to have reservations about external code.
Either way, great work! I, for one, appreciate it.

I eventually figured this out. I was using the items.png from Misa's HD pack, which is 64 pixels, so the patcher was upsizing it to 128 pixels, which should have worked fine but for some reason was causing bugs with the compass and dial.png. Swapping to Aegeon's items.png with Misa's armor and weapons spliced on solved the problem entirely.

I submitted a bug report at GetSatisfaction, the place where Notch said to send all Ideas or Bug reports. It was immediately flagged as "Not a problem" by an employee that replied that "'HD' texture packs aren't officially supported. Also, there are various mods available to fix these problems. Look on the Minecraft forums."
I understand not wanting to fully support texture packs that aren't the standard size. But I wonder how many people play with the default pack as opposed to "better" texture packs. I don't know why this issue isn't handled internally once and for all. Let people use whatever resolution they want, just don't offer "support" for them. In the end, it IS a bug after all. Having to CONSTANTLY update the mod (thanks Xau) and CONSTANTLY patch the game isn't really what I want for this problem specifically. Oh well...

Scratch that, 128x is working fine, but I cant patch to 256 :sad.gif: boo.

Curse PremiumFor those two people above my post, have you deselected custom water and lava?
Just do not use the MCPatcher, it's out of date.
I used to have toes
What other HD texture installer do you recommend? I'm kind of new to modding so MCPatcher is the only one I know about.
