Any Idea on how I might fix this?
I had this same problem because I was using the wrong texture size (I picked 64x64 when my textures were really 32x32), maybe that will help you! I also changed the way my .rar was organized: Instead of having a folder inside the rar with my subfolders inside, I had JUST the subfolders. It was more likely the size thing that fixed my problem though. Good luck!
Edit: This is with Doku's 32x32 btw, and it did patch with 32 x 32. I checked. This is the 3rd time now trying. I've tried patching the minecraft.jar itself after installing, and patching the pack itself and then installing after.
I've been running this on a mac. with both the Jar version and the dmg version. with many variations of the two. but i can't get custom animations to work for the life of me? has anyone gotten them to work?
and if so, how?

gerudoku has some custom water animations that are pretty similar in appearance to doku's viewtopic.php?f=25&t=77619
it also includes custom lava from johnsmith's pack, but it bears more resemblance to the default lava than doku's textures
someone else made custom lava animations based directly on doku's lava textures, although the only animation seems to be a glowing effect viewtopic.php?f=25&t=73416&p=1145387

Same exact thing happened to me, and then I noticed something strange about the file locations. You're running the Linux McPatcher on a Windows machine. Try running the Windows version.
Nope, positive I'm using the Windows version. Waiting for help.
A couple patches back I think 1.1.4, there was a graphic error with weapons when you made 32+ textures, it caused a shadowing glitchy effect around the weapon model when it was in first person because the game uses the texture info to draw the model. In 1.1.5 you fixed it, I'm trying to use a custom "cloud.png" and am getting the EXACT same graphic error on them as the weapons had, I believe for the same reason the weapons had it. For now you can set the game to Fast instead of fancy and it fixes the cloud problem, I am really missing all the other Fancy effects because of this one thing. If you could do so kindly as to look into this i'd be forever in your debt and it would fix the problems with high res custom clouds being 3d and not glitched thanks for the all you do :smile.gif:
Upon dinking around further I have also noticed that the shadowy glitchy effect that I was talking about that isn't there in first person on items with newer versions of your patcher, is still there in 3rd person mode and when you see another player with a weapon as well, Just thought i'd note that as well :smile.gif: this is with the 1.1.9 patcher. I would provide screenshots but I'm sure you are aware of what i'm talking about as your patch notes for 1.1.5 were specific to this same problem :smile.gif: Again thanks for this wonderful patch just trying to help make it better :smile.gif:
Xau, I think I can honestly say without fear of contradiction that yours is the most utilized, most important, and most fun mod in all Minecraftdom! Three Cheers and 5 Diamonds! Bravo!
Well I'm having troubles. I ran the patch to install Aza's Arid pack, I simply made the tile size 128x128 and thats all. Afterwards I got a successful patch message in the log. Exited and ran the game, after the Mojang Specifications screen I just get black and the program doesnt respond.
I ran the program again with Minecraft on and the log gave me this

This works for me (note that this will have NO EFFECT on the browser version, only the standalone client):
1) find where your copy of minecraft.jar is stored. NOT THE .exe. This /should/ be %APPDAT%/.minecraft/bin/ on a Windows XP machine. You should be able to open a Windows Explorer window that will get you there by going to START | Run... and typing %APPDATA% into the run box.
2) now blow away everything in that directory. Easiest way to do this is to go up one level to the .minecraft directory and JUST DELETE /bin/. There will be people who tell you you only need to delete the /bin/version file, but this will not get rid of any backups any mod or patcher has ALREADY MADE, and you need to get rid of them. Note that this step WILL COMPLETELY DELETE ANY MODS YOU HAVE INSTALLED. Also, while you are in .minecraft, examine it to make sure there's nothing there that looks like a backup or 'old' version of minecraft.jar (there shouldn't be, but I've seen it), and delete if there is. You don't need to go into or delete any of the other subdirectories.
3) Make certain your java install is up to date (if you can run the vanilla version of the minecraft stand-alone client, it should be).
4) Delete any and all copies of Aza's Arid texture pack and download a NEW FRESH COPY from the current version of the thead's OP, here: http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=64678
Don't skip this step, older copies were in a different format. SAVE IT AS IS. DO NOT UNZIP IT.
5) Put the texture pack you just downloaded into the directory in your .minecraft directory named texturepacks. If it's not there, create it.
6) Now, run your Minecraft executable. It will ask you to log in, then see that there is no minecraft.jar present in your .minecraft directory, and it will take a few seconds to download all the current version of the java files it needs to run. You will get the Mojang loading screen, then the initial menu. Press the button labelled 'Mods and Texture Packs'. This will take you to another screen, where you should see 'Default', and the Arid pack listed, with a thin box around Default, showing that it's the current selection. Click on the Arid pack, and the thin box will move to /it/; nothing else will happen. Anticlimatic, hunh? Click 'Done'. THIS IS AN IMPORTANT STEP, AND PROBABLY WHAT IS GIVING YOU YOUR ERROR. You /must/ set Minecraft's options to be using a texture pack of the SAME DIMENSIONS (16x16, 32x32, 64x64, etc) or applying the HD Texture Fix will make the game crash. Start up the game with any world to force it to save your prefs (your textures will be borked), then exit the game.
As a side note, there's a way to edit this into the configuration file manually, but it is more complicated and intimidating for those not used to paging through and editting obscure variable text files. There are instructions on how to do this elsewhere in this thread.
7) Download a fresh, BRAND NEW copy of Xau's HD Texture fix from the opening post on the first page of this thread. As of this writing, it's mcpatcher-1.1.9_01, but that could change. Force-refresh your browser if you think you might be looking at an out of date version of the page. OLD VERSIONS WILL NOT WORK. Run the utility. It should have the location of your current minecraft.jar already loaded into the 'Original' and 'Output' boxes - check to make sure it's correct (it should be). Press 'Browse' on the texture box, navigate to your .minecraft/texturepacks/ directory and select the Arid pack zipfile; it should automatically check the Texture tickbox and change the Tile Size pulldown to the size of that pack's (128x128) Make sure all the options you want are checked (I use all of them). Click the PATCH button. A small window will open and scroll by a bunch of messages, followed, hopefully, by something like 'Success... Probably'. If you get this, it probably worked. If you don't, copy the info in the window for pasting into a board message later.
EDIT: with the 1.2.3_01 update and mcpatcher-1.1.9_01, you will need to UNCHECK custom water and lava to get the patcher to work, until Xau gets home from the holiday and has a chance to update it.
If you are playing single player, you can start up Minecraft now with the 'RUN MINECRAFT' button (it won't log you into the auth server, so you can't play multiplayer this way), or close the utility and start up Minecraft with your usual executable. Your textures should now be in glorious 'HD', with the rendering glitches fixed (although at 128x128, I find the compass and watch bits are so small as to be unusable).
8) [optional] once you have it confirmed as working with your patched textures, you can venture into adding any other mods that suit your fancy, but always, always, stash a known good copy of your last working minecraft.jar somewhere where you won't mix it up with anything else and where some other patcher won't rename it - i.e., NOT the /bin folder. That way, if a mod you apply breaks things, you can always put a copy of your working one back into the folder. Only add one mod at a time and test between each one, if you add several all at once and something breaks, you have no idea which one is the culprit. Also note that you're going to need to do this every time Notch puts out a new patch, until he puts support for HD textures and mods into the vanilla code (if he ever does).
I also strongly suggest you get and use a Saved Worlds backup utility if you are going to start playing with mods; some of them can cause savefile corruption. (It's a good idea even if you're not, vanilla Minecraft has occasionally been known to cause savefile corruption, too.) Several are listed in the Programs and Editors page on the wiki.
I hope this helps solve your problem. Apologies if it was too long or needlessly detailed, but I can't tell just what details you /don't/ need, and a lot of people appear to find this process frustrating.
Same exact thing happened to me, and then I noticed something strange about the file locations. You're running the Linux McPatcher on a Windows machine. Try running the Windows version.
after a few minutes comes a black screen
Make sure your Minecraft is working ok on a fresh install, is the patcher the only modification you have done to your game?
also try deleting options.txt aswell :smile.gif:
dont delete any of that just delete version.
hm dont work^^
and yes i´ve only downloaded the mcpatcher from this site
