Ohhh damn!!
Patched alright. Portal textures definitely work now, as does autoloading custom water and lava animations (THANK YOU)
However using gerudoku (32x terrain, 16x items) the compass and clock items display properly but still don't display their moving bits (pointer, sun/moon). Still an improvement! Hope you can figure out the remaining glitches :smile.gif:
I re-downloaded everything, but those files are still there, even after making sure there aren't any updates I missed out on. What can I do to fix it? Delete something?

Is it because the terrain.png is a 32x32 but the items.png is 16x16?
They do need to be the same size.

Animations based on custom_water_flowing.png and custom_lava_flowing.png are super fast. To flow at any reasonable rate the file has to be huge. A 30 frame loop (makes for a huge texture with 64p) still flows twice as fast as the old texture.png based water (to say nothing of the texture.png based lava).
The water should animate at the same speed. A terrain.png-based custom animation for a 64x64 texture will be 64 frames. The terrain.png-based custom lava has a random 3-6 frame delay. I am thinking about supporting .gif animations in the future, with frame skipping to match the intended framerate as best as possible and some voodoo with the transparent color to set the alpha level for the whole texture. But no promises or ETA or anything.

If you delete your .minecraft/bin folder, run the normal launcher, login and download the latest update, and run the patcher from your .minecraft/bin folder, it should work. If it doesn't, somebody somewhere is being dishonest about something!

I don't appreciate the insinuation. =/ It's a perfectly legitimate copy, I paid $14 and change for it, right off minecraft.net.
...and it doesn't work. Maybe I'm missing something- I opened Run, typed in %appdata%\.minecraft, deleted the file named bin, and ran minecraft.exe and re-updated. Still nothing.

Did you put the patcher in .minecraft/bin, and run it there, to ensure it's not picking up a minecraft.jar or minecraft.original.jar somewhere else? If you right click on .bin/minecraft.jar and go to properties, what is the file size in bytes?

So same speed, if one has 64 frames? 64 / 30 matches up with what I saw with the custom_lava_flowing going more than twice as fast as texture.png water (had them side by side). 64 frames is just a lot when each one is 64x64 (64x4096 total). Which is why I wondered if the custom_* stuff could have its framerate slowed a bit. Having that user settable with gifs or whatever would be cool, and it can be worked around in the meantime (with giant images) so no biggie. Thanks for all your work

Breakthrough! Putting it in /bin gets rid of the error.
The file is 1,098,113 bytes, if you still need to know, but thank you for the attention. Have an eternal gratitude. Hopefully, this is the end of my trip to tech support.

Excellent! My custom watch graphics work like a charm. Is there currently any way to edit the portal animation graphics? I'd love to take a crack at those for my texture pack.

Error with version 1.1.9, the first release I have had any trouble with. Running this on linux with 'java -jar ~/.minecraft/mcpatcher-1.1.9.jar' and Misa's texture pack already loaded into the minecraft.original.jar.
Portal textures are fixed? Sweet! I made an underwater portal on the SCP Minecraft server, but since I use OkamiCraft, only the very edges of the portal blocks had any texture. I assume it's the same animated-texture-tesselation thing as with animated water and lava...
Oh, speaking of OkamiCraft, I was wondering, will Custom Animated Fire (and maybe Custom Animated Portals) ever be a possibility? Brush-ink fire looks cool, but it's a suspension-of-disbelief breaker (and screen obscurer when on fire) that it's a static texture.

i keep on getting this error message and when ever i try to run minecraft the screen goes white after the mojang spesificatons logo comes up, please help!
ok, so im a real n00b on my mac... i downloaded mcpatcher-1.1.9.jar, it's a folder on my desktop, i copy & Pasted "java -Xmx512m -jar ~/Desktop/mcpatcher-1.1.9.jar" in the terminal like you said; at first i thought it worked but nothing happened... then i tried again and got this message: Invalid or corrupt jarfile /Users/master user/Desktop/mcpatcher-1.1.9.jar. so i though i'd delete the folder and unzip the zippered file again and tried the terminal once more... same thing... then i deleted the zippered file and the folder and re-downloaded it, unzipped it, and tried the terminal... same thing......
help plz?
sorry & thank you (in advance)
Nice catch, thanks. I'll put a fix out when I get home this evening.

Probably, if someone makes one.

Im wondering if i have java problems, as if i try to use minecraft from the home page i get a "access denied (java.util.propertypermission user.home....." message that runs off the screen. Any ideas? Re-installed it, no change.
You could try running it as admin, I guess.

Make sure you patch in the textures you want to use with the patcher, and delete options.txt in your Minecraft folder. I think this is how it was solved earlier in the thread. The built in texture selector is not well supported yet.

1.1.8 worked nice, but 1.1.9 gives me this upon attempting to patch a vanilla minecraft.jar (just textures inserted as usual)
Patching class: Minecraft (net/minecraft/client/Minecraft.class)

I believe this is where the others are crashing (this is where I am):
if (name.endsWith(".png")) { input = texturePack.getInputStream(name); if (customAnimations.contains(name)) { customAnimations.remove(name); <--- UnsupportedOperationException here } } else { input = minecraft.getJar().getInputStream(entry); }Based on the list being created at this line of code:
List<String> customAnimations = Arrays.asList("custom_water_still.png", "custom_water_flowing.png", "custom_lava_still.png", "custom_lava_flowing.png");Which is apparently immutable. Obviously you'll need to create the list the long way.
