Only the first face of the diamond block is showing up. The other two below it are not being drawn. It's just repeating the top tile on all of the sides.
I'm not sure if this affects the Iron and gold blocks since they are all the same on the terrian.png I use.
Firstly im on a mac and cant just "find" the texture pack.
I assure you it is, in fact, possible to find a file on a Mac. Believe in yourself. Try your best. Don't give up.

If you see this, you are patching the old 1.0.whatever version of Minecraft. Make sure there is not an old minecraft.jar or minecraft.original.jar in the directory you're running from or in your .minecraft/bin folder.
If anyone is really still running that version because you can't buy the game to update to the latest because you're a cheapskate or a child who's not stealthy enough to nick their parents' credit card to use for dubious online transactions without permission, you can still find old versions of the patcher that should work (look at the update history in the OP, google mcpatcher-1.1.whatever.exe). They aren't supported so if it doesn't work I can't help you. You can blame me for being a bad influence if you get caught stealing your parent's credit card though.

And I need this answer cleared up, the jar version of mcpatcher freezes during the patching process, screwing my game up and having to erase bin all the time.
Put it on your desktop and run it from the command prompt with: java -Xmx512m -jar ~/Desktop/mcpatcher-1.1.8.jar
If you get an error in the terminal, post it here.

The red text means that the texture patcher should be working on OSX again, but apparently from the number of mac users having problems, it must not be. I don't hink Xau has a way to test on mac,
I test on OS X 10.5 and 10.6 with Java 5 and Java 6 every release. The problem 90% of the time is that java has a stupidly low default memory cap, and when it runs out of memory the error goes to the terminal, which you can't see if you ran it by double clicking the jar. The solution, which is running it from the terminal, has been posted like 100 times. On Windows the .exe launcher takes care of it automatically.
The problem the remaining 10% of the time is the guy I quoted at the top of this post.

Latest HD texture patcher works, but seemed to run into several issues.
1: simply putting the patcher anywhere no longer works. it must be in the bin folder with minecraft.jar
2: win7 or vista must run run as admin
1. This is wrong. It will try to load minecraft.jar or minecraft.original.jar from the directory it is in first, so maybe you are just running it somewhere that is causing it to patch the wrong file. I never run it from the bin folder in testing and since it breaks the Run Minecraft button I never tell anyone else to put it there.
2. If you made it so only admin can write to your minecraft files or something this may be true, but I test on win7 and vista and never run it as admin.

xau since I can't send you a message I want you to look at this I made
Pretty cool, thanks. The amount of fumbling makes me embarrassed at how error-prone installing is now though.
ps I use the same wallpaper on my Windows PC
only minecraft is installed in 1 location on my computer. the patcher only works for me and a few others by putting it in the bin folder. pointing to the minecraft jar often messes up the patcher if its not in there. go back and read the thread of your own program. -.- with the issue that you yourself didn't bother helping with. When the patcher was on the desktop or in folder called minecraft on the desktop, it would load the right location for minecraft half the time, but then the texture file would be autoset to the minecraft jar location, changing it would mess up the minecraft jar location in the first box. a endless cycle. Solution was to put it in the bin folder which fixed the issue with me and my friends.
and the run as admin is a general practice that most pc users using vista or win7 should be use to. certain programs actually require to be runned with administrative rights and even if your account is flagged as administrator you may still need to right click and run as admin.
P.S
not everyone is the mindless idiot developers try and make them out to be, some actually have the ability to think and trouble shoot their own issues. like my issue that the thread failed to address, i found the solution myself which works not only for me but my friends as well.

Sorry to (mis)speak for you like that, I thought you'd mentioned once that you can't test on mac easily, must have been another mod I was thinking of. Should have checked first, my bad.
There's no (easy) way to make a patcher exe for the mac? Seems that most of the traffic here is mac problems.
It would be nice if Notch just up and included high rez texture support.

this is a thread. its a series of post in a forum relating to the same subject. in this case. the HD texture fix [11-10:MC 1.2.2] is the thread.
Original is where the patcher makes a backup of the original minecraft jar. by default it should be bin\mindcraft_origina.jar
Output is the minecraft.jar file itself which by default is bin\minecraft.jar
the texture pack is the actual rar/zip file that contains the textures you want to use. hit the browser button and select the file compressed file with the textures. (also make sure afterwards that the original and output didn't change since there is still a bug xau fails to address.)
the title size should automatically adjust to the proper sized based on the images resolution. minecraft uses a default of 16 by 16. if for some reason the tile size doesn't automatically set to the right size you must manually set it using the drop down menu.
the options checkboxs are yours too play with, those who are running into a black screen may wish to try patching again but without any of the options checked (as a control). Also I noticed that the patcher is a bit picky about the compression method, example if i use a rar file with max compression it causes minecraft to crash, but if i use normal compress it runs fine. so try experimenting with the compressing of the texture files.
to actually patch you must click the button that says Patch. Save your log it generates incase you run into a problem. If you have a problem, post your log here, simply surround it with the code button.

If you use this to patch the game for HD textures can you use the in game texture loader to go back and forth betweeen 32x and 16x textures or will 16x be screwed up since you patched it for 32x?

it will mess up since you changed the offset values for 32 by 32. you can rerun the patcher to change the offsets to the proper size you wish though.

Alrite thanks! Also is it just me or does AO seem more noticable on 16x16 textures then 32 and up?
Am I the only one with a missing compass pointer in the latest version of the patcher? Maybe there's some conflict with having AO and Bettergrass applied too, but the pointer hasn't shown up since I started using the latest release.
For the record, I'm using 32x32 terrain textures with 16x16 items.
What fix is that? A link would be great!

Tested with John smith's 32x32 TP.
Also still hoping for the return of bettergrass for mac
this is a problem with hd patcher, it says that on the first post under bugs. >.<

Does anyone know if there is eventually gonna be a fix for the known issues? (portal and watch)
