I finally got it to work, but it required me to manually insert the files into minecraft.original.jar and select custom water. (Animated Water was unselected.)
I can't seem to get this to install the custom water from a rar archive.
(Yes the images are in the top level of the archive.)
Note: The frames of the custom water are processed at approximately 30fps
Ok. Mayhaps I'm being superduper dense but as the info on this is kinda shotgunned all over the thread I haven't quite processed it fully.
Can I use 16x16 custom still/flowing water/lava textures with this? I made 16x80 pngs for each (5 frames) and it seems I still either get the default animated textures or else my unanimated custom.
If it doesn't work specifically for 16x16s then I /beg for update and bribe you with a while we're at it. ;-}

I'm on a mac and I'm trying to use Brown & Bloom texture pack. I do not have it installed, and I have a fresh install of minecraft.
If you look at the screenshot I uploaded, you can see that it hangs there. I have tried it a couple times and each time it hangs at 82% and that step. What am I missing?

It should work fine, can you post a .zip with the files you are trying to use?

It's probably running out of memory. Try running it from the terminal with: java -Xmx512m -jar mcpatcher-1.1.6.jar

http://www.mediafire.com/?xjla6yp7ltzmkjb everything else comes over just fine. got the custom_water_still.png etc in the top folder (ie same folder as terrain.png)
I had a quick look and noticed that you have the "custom" texture files all named with a capital C in custom. Try renaming them with a lower case "c" and see what that does.
I'm not even sure it is case sensitive but it is worth a try.
Your patcher is missing a file. Where did you download it from / did you do anything to it?
I downloaded it from the OP and I didn't do anything to it.
I don't mean to sound pushy, but may I ask how do I fix this problem? D:
I still get it. I've re-installed Minecraft, deleted the .minecraft folder multiple times, re-downloaded the .exe, re-downloaded the texture packs..

Is it possible to just get the better grass mod. I tried the patcher and it mess my water up badly and the only thing I want is the grass.
In what way did it mess your water up? Is it using the water texture from the texture pack? Or.... is it using the original water and lava but still using the custom textures from the texture pack you are using? Do you want the original water and lava or the one that came with the texture pack you are using?

Try the .jar version. Open it in something and make sure newcode/at.class exists. Try running it from the command line.

Unchecked custom water and lava. Check better grass. Push patch.

But now in game my shovel and sword are messed up.
It looks like it resized the image incorrectly - maybe a Java version issue? I'll look into it. As a workaround you can resize the original gui/items.png to 512x512 manually and put it in your minecraft.jar.

the patch worked, but can you explain to me why after the patch kaspersky sees javaw.exe infected with PDM.Rootshell?
This goes to whatever program invokes javaw.exe, not just minecraft (which I'd understand if it tries to hook onto exe to make minecraft work?)
At a glance it sounds like you are just misunderstanding the message from Kaspersky and it is just warning you that the .exe wrapper is launching javaw.exe to run the patcher. But I don't know anything about Kaspersky so if you want more help you should post on their forums instead.

You didn't run the patch again and overwrite it or anything did you? Can you post the resized image?

I replaced it via terminal and then ran the game, I didn't repatch it. For the image, I just pulled it into Seashell (a freeware paint type program for mac) and scaled the image 200%.
Can someone please post the files just for the better grass mod. It is just so much of a hassle to download a patcher that doesn't even work.
I have run the thing as it should be ran and it still breaks Minecraft.
If you "have run the thing as it should be ran" then either Better Grass itself or something else you are doing "breaks Minecraft," because the patcher won't change anything else if you uncheck custom water and lava.

Could someone explain what "run with gui" means?
It means double click it in Finder/Nautilus/Explorer or whatever the equivalent action is on whatever platform you're trying to run it on.

Checked that, had to do that, but no joy. :\

It's always that same error. :sad.gif:
Can you effin belive it?!?!?
fix'd ;-P

The patcher settings were 32x32, animated fire water lava with no custom lava or water
Is this just a problem with brown and bloom? It wasn't appearing before i ran the patcher.
EDIT: I think the image was cut off, here's a link: http://img37.imageshack.us/img37/2237/picture5ps.png

Wait, I fixed it. I ran it in the jar, and it did the same thing, but then I un-ticked all of the boxes at the bottom and it worked. O_O
I feel like such a noob.
I resized the original gui/items.png and put it in the minecraft.jar file and I still get the same issue.
The patcher does not touch javaw.exe, is itself written entirely in java, is open source, and is virus-free according to every major virus scanner.
