@Chrizum - no problem when I do it. Try like I did and back up your saves and tex pack folder, then delete the .minecraft folder. Get a fresh install, then patch (uncheck custom lava and water).
I'm running my pack with no problems on the beta version. I'm gonna test more and see what I can find.
@Mine black screened after login when using custom. Wonder what the difference is...they are both 32x32

Hey, first time posting on the forums... I apologize if this is a simple fix or if it's already been done, but I'm trying to patch the REZCRAFT BETA v0.3, and as soon as I tried to open up Minecraft, I got the ole Black Screen of Doom.
Here's the code:

Sounds like the "unchecking the custom water and lava" trick to me

LATEST UPDATE:
1.1.10 - Fixed custom water/lava for beta 1.0. Changed Run Minecraft to Test Minecraft for clarity. Patch from Kahr to add versions to backup jars, so should no longer be necessary to delete minecraft.original.jar all the time. Also from Kahr: Custom water/lava will automatically be disabled when there's a new Minecraft version if the class names aren't right.
Ok I've read through all the comments and I don't think anyone else has had this problem yet. I followed all the instructions for installing the texture pack (opened up the .jar in winRAR and moved the new textures in), and then patched it using the latest patch on this forum. However, I get to the Mojang logo, but right after that, the program freezes and crashes. I don't get a black screen; it just freezes during start-up. Please help.
Hurray! You work fast, I don't know how you do it, but then I don't know how it's done, could be there's nothing to it and you're not that special after all! Haha I kid, I kid, you're great, I don't know what I'd do without this fix. (Well I do really but that's what people say...) Thank you for your dedication to the mod and for the fast and invaluable service.
Re-download the minecraft.jar and don't **** with it. Put the texture packs (should be zipped) into .minecraft/texturepacks. Then, select the texture pack in-game using the game's texture pack loader at the title screen. Close Minecraft and run the texture patcher.
beta is out!!
also (using the Doku tex pack) i can use custom water/lava!
don't know how, don't know why, but it works and it's grand!

UNCHECK CUSTOM WATER AND CUSTOM LAVA
When Xau updates the patch, you can go back to doing it the old way
Verified by re-downloading Minecraft, successfully connecting to the same server, patching to 64x64 and getting Outdated Client error afterwards.
Here's the code:
Any help, fellas?
Xau "needs" to do nothing. Will update when he can. He does this on his own time and doesn't work for Mojang.
YOU and others "need" to play without a tex pack if you can't figure the error out. "We" will try to help.

He "needs" to update it for it to work. This isn't a demand, it's simply the way it is. If he doesn't update it, it doesn't work. Unwad your panties.
I have to agree with Malth, it was just a cause and effect statement
Think of it as, "This thing is required in order for this second thing to happen"
