I'm using Gerudoku's texture pack, and the bricks are all messed up unless I run the patcher. Then, when I stop patching it before I play, it goes back to the crap bricks. Do I seriously have to run the patcher every time I want to use this texture pack with minecraft?

Im getting the exact same issue.. Seems to patch OK, but the game is black screen after launching and logging in.
Or if running direct from the patcher it just doesnt load with the same error

Getting the same issue all of a sudden; goes black after the login screen. Was there an update to the client today?
Post the whole log, including all the stuff at the very beginning and all the stuff when you push patch.

so, the only way to fix the glitch is to replace the textures in game file? so i can't use the new texture pack feature for my 32x32 texture pack? that sux...
Yes.

No.
It will look for a minecraft.jar in the same directory as the patcher and patch that if it exists. Otherwise it will patch the one in .minecraft/bin, so the patch will be there whenever you launch Minecraft normally. So, you should make sure there's no minecraft.jar in the same direcory as the patcher, and if that doesn't work, post your log.
I absolutely love the custom animated water and lava support this patcher provides. So much so that use this feature as a standard for my texture pack. I've since really gotten into animated textures and have created some really nice, tiling, animated textures for portals.
I was wondering is there any kind of file naming workaround I can use to replace the default portal animation with mine? Or is there a plan to support custom portal animations in the works?
I downloaded the latest patcher and tried to run it but it won't even open. It would open in a previous version, but since all the updates it is not opening anymore. I can't get any error reports or anything because nothing will open DX
Can anyone help me with this? Does anyone else have the same problem?

There's no way to do it right now, but I've been thinking about making a way to apply custom animations to any tile. Can you post the image?

Try running it from the command prompt: java -jar mcpatcher-1.1.9_04.exe

heres the full patcher log as you requested:

Found FlowWater: iy.class
Found StillWater: od.class

Replacing oe.class
Your Minecraft version doesn't match the version the patcher is for. Try following the instructions in the OP to make sure your Minecraft is the latest version and there is no backup messing things up.

You do realize that this patch makes the game function in offline mode without authorization right?
And by doing that it acts like a crack for minecraft. Not good.
Holster the pitchfork Captain Crusadey McCopyProtector, there is nothing to crack. Minecraft has no copy protection. The executable file you download off the Minecraft website is a launcher. When you enter your name and password into it, it downloads the actual game files. Once you have them, you don't have to log in anymore, you can just fail the login and hit Play Offline, or launch the game from the command line like this patcher does. If you never log in and download the game files, the patcher won't work.
Sorry for stupidity but...
I tried installing Aza's Arid Texture Pack, and I followed the instructions, ran the patcher, and the end sentence was "Success!... Probably" Then I ried running minecraft directly from the patcher, it was "Not Responding" so I closed it and tried running minecraft from the official application, runnning the official .exe still didn't work... so I deleted it and tried running minecraft from my browser, It still wouldn't work... what do I do?

I don't want to publicly release the resource file until it's actually ready for use with my texture pack. I can send what I have to you privately if it'd aid in your work though. (Just let me know how.) Basically I used the exact same format as custom_XXX_XXX.png for water and lava in 64x64 resolution with 64 total frames.
Here's an animated gif of the effect I achieved by replacing custom_water_flowing.png with the effect and filling a portal with still water. This isn't an actual working portal, but this is basically a simulation of what the effect might look like.
Animation for any tile sounds absolutely awesome! I'm sure I could think of many ways to use it for my pack.
I have the most recent version of java "Version 6 Update 22" is there a way to fix this error?

Don't mean to be a smart ass or anything.. But I'm not that stupid.. I wouldn't post without falling those steps first. I've double and triple, even quadruple checked it's properly updated minecraft. I've totally cleared the bin folder and redownloaded a couple times, and it still complains the version is different.. I can confirm the game is v1.2.6 see Screenie below:
I've had the "wrong version" error come up in previous minecraft versions and it still patched fine, hence why I'm not 100% sure the version checking is actually working properly..
the texture pack isnt really anything fancy, at only 32x32, so its not like the textures are too big..
any other suggestions? or should i just wait until the next patch?
Now that SMP Health is out I was stoked to try the 256x256 patch option, only when launching the client after the "successful" patch, I get this:

heh, this may sound silly but for some reason I cant find the actual texture pack download. I got the layout of it, but thats only a .png file, and i dont have the .jar or .exe or what ever it is I need to make this work.

you gave a crappyass explanation of what went wrong, and displayed a crappyass understanding of exe's and jar's.
I mean: "THE actual texture pack"? What pack? This isn't a texture pack. If you mean a particular pack, which? And a terrain.png is all that some packs are. Don't have the jar / exe? So download it from this thread. Maybe you mean the minecraft jar? Guaranteed you have it, if you are playing the game.
I have no idea how to help you because I don't know what is wrong so and I'm sure not going to do it now even if you do explain it better. Do try to do so though so someone else can.
Do you think that you could modify this to also alter the offsets for /minecraft.jar/font/default.png file?
If I scale that one for a 128 pack and replace it in the minecraft.jar it grabs the letter textures from all the wrong locations and makes everything written unintelligible.
