Here's an update that adds the new blocks. It's not what I had originally had in mind, but I figure I'll put something compatible out. I also don't really have any buildings that already use the new blocks with the default terrain.png, so it's hard to say how my interpretations will work into preexisting stuff.
I have to say, I've always liked this pack. The one thing that's kept me from using it on a regular basis is the stone-- I'd love it if you'd make an alt that was less brown/less chunky. :3
EDIT: Nevermind, I found the alternate file. Let me rephrase-- I'd love it if you'd add ores for the alternate smooth stone.
EDIT EDIT: The glowstone lamp is to die for. Well done!
Dusty you should update the OP with the updated terrain and item .png's
Also we over at Dokucraft: The Saga Continues really love your armor textures and one of our contributors, Noodaa, is actually working on alt edits of them in the Doku style for personal use. We love how they look and would like to add them to the pack officially or at the least to our customizer as alternative armor choices. You would of course be listed for credit of the originals so all I ask is will you consider letting us use them? you can see the alts that he is making here (again currently just for his personal use and to any who want to use them in thier own personal packs through manually editing them in, not to be used in any way for redistribution without your express permission)
I've been looking through all of the comments just to see how this pack has been piecing together and I've come to love it. I'm using it now as we speak and I think it's one of the best RPG packs I've ever seen. Great job Dusty.
Dusty, the people at the Doku RPG Minecraft Customizer site (run by Jademalo and Tyken132) are using a lot of your textures without crediting. I just thought I'd let you know.
Keep up the great work! We love you!
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Signatures hate me, so have fun laughing at my failure...
I feel as though over the years(yes, it's been that long) I have deviated and changed styles many times, and the pack as a whole feels like a mess.
I'm going to start heavily revamping this pack, and most likely almost all old tiles will be redone. In the end the pack may look very different so I may even break away from this specific one and start a new thread under a new name. I'm not sure yet.
Either way, keep an eye out over the next week or so! Big changes are on the horizon!
As always, many thanks to anyon who has stuck along this long.
I really love your texture pack, the 32 bit style reminds me of how much time I spent on my snes. I think if you start a new thread please post a link on the current one, I an looking forward to see what you come up with.
On a side note, have you ever considered adding textures to some the the really popular mods? I apologize if this has been posted before, and if my thoughts seem scattered.

Hello there. I'm secretly a long-time user of your texture pack. Sorry for coming out of nowhere, but your post made me realize it was time to strike. Hahaha.
In my opinion, I think starting a new texture pack may be the best idea, but please do keep this one updated. I can't tell you how much I love it. This and SummerFields, and sometimes GeruDokuRPG, are my favorite texture packs. However, it is like you said. Some of the styles don't match up. The biggest problem I see with this pack (which isn't that big anyway) is that some of the colors on certain items and blocks clash. Like... Two things made out of cobblestone will look drastically difference in contrast and brightness and often hue. Oh, and the only thing that I would CHANGEchange would be the wooden door. The fact that the glass is overtaken in that bottom corner always makes my left eye twitch. Haha.
Anyway... Great job! Can't wait to see what direction you take this in!

Aye, there is definitely a huge style clash, which this revamp will hopefully resolve. There is a lot that needs to be redone, but preview!
Objects with the intention of being redone?:
Half stones
Brick
Flowers
Bedrock
Iron(and the others) block
Chest
Glass
Cactus
Jukebox
Crafting table
Furnace
Dispenser
Trap door(maybe)
Piston(maybe)
Pumpkin
Stronghold bricks
Wool blocks
Sandstone(maybe)
Lantern(maybe)

I'd like to throw my opinion into the fray, and I understand that you probably won't listen to me. Haha. I really, really like the furnace's style. I'd recommend keeping it, but making the colors and border fit more. The same could feasibly be done to the piston, half stones, bricks, chest, and jukebox. The glass, cactus, flowers, crafting table, dispenser, pumpkin, and wool blocks definitely need to go. Their styles may fit with earlier versions, but as this pack evolved, they lost their place. I think the obsidian would look better if the cracks covered the entire thing, but you really don't need to change it any more than that. The trapdoor just needs to be hued the same as the normal wood planks. The stronghold bricks look fine in my opinion, but I can understand that you would want to change them. Honestly, I love all of your sandstone blocks. I'd love them to at least stay as alternates. The lantern looks fine I think, but it could be a little brighter. I know you didn't mention this, but I'd also love to see the dragon egg look more... Natural. More alive.
As a final note, I would say that a unification of hues among same-material items would make this pack really come together. Oh, and one last thing... Have you considered animating some of your textures? Making glowstone and torches glow, making diamonds sparkle, etc.
Thanks for all of your work!
EDIT: Mod support would definitely draw in more people once the pack is complete. SummerField's amount of mod support makes me love that texture pack more and more. Haha.
It took this one sneak peak to get me excited! Looks sweet!
Also Dusty, are you aware of the new abilities of CTM with MCPatcher? Check out
Doku Continues and SMP's page.
If you have the time, you should definitely consider doing it. It's your artistic ability
that can utilize the full potential of these options.
Keep up the awesome work
Aye, once I figure out the new textures I will most definitely try to get those supported, though I use Optifine exclusively now and I haven't checked to see if it supports CTM as well.

The furnace has always been a texture I have wanted to redo, and it often gets criticized as well. It's very primitive in its design and boring to look at. The problem isn't so much the colors but the overall design that went into them. Chest for example is using mostly flat colors with a stylistic approach, and I don't think it matches what I'm currently doing anymore. I was never a fan of the bricks, but they're not widely used so I always put them on the back burner. Pistons could stay but I find the design of the mechanics fairly busy and could be simplified to something more appealing. Trapdoor has concerns raised about not being able to see through it, so I want to look into that a swell. The problem with the stronghold bricks is that they don't look like bricks and instead sort of blend in with cobble. I want to see if I can address that, but they might stay. The lantern I feel suffers the same problem as the piston base, just very busy and maybe I can accomplish something better looking. I also am unaware of any texture for the dragon egg
As for most of those above concerns, that's pretty much the reason I feel I need to start over and make this another pack. Some people do like the cartoony style that's currently embedded, and I don't want to push aside those people since they're most likely the people who supported my pack this far. Maybe I can get my friend to make me a customizer!
As for the other things such as animating textures and mod support... that's just too much work currently. The default stuff isn't even completed, and animating is a very complicated and lengthy process. Mods are just too plenty to really bother with, and I learned that with Aether(which I started to support). If people want to add mod support I will try to keep their submissions in the OP, but that's the best I can do.
If you want to eventually work on some of these, or if someone else can reproduce something close to your style, I would love to see it. Obviously, I'm aware that this texture pack is going through a lot of changes. It's like texture pack puberty. But once you get past the zits and the raging hormones, it's a beautiful thing. Haha. I can't wait to see how it all comes together. Really looking forward to your pig textures. Every time I pass a pig, I have to kill it. Not that I normally wouldn't anyway, but I really don't like the default textures. Haha.
