Kudos to you dustyshouri! I really like this pack, and now I'm using the pack all the time! Clean pixels and overall good visual, keep up your good work! :biggrin.gif:
Dusty, first of all YOU'RE AWESOME <3, I love your texture pack and it's really easy to install :biggrin.gif: Secondly, have you seen the new item and terrain images Jeb released for texture makers?
I have not. I checked his twitter and still have not found anything.
If anyone is interested I thought I'd go ahead and release this little album that contains all the canvases I've made to work on this single texture pack. It contains a lot of unused graphics, WIP stages and such and I thought it might be interesting to look through if you're into that sort of stuff(kind of like a Behind The Scenes thing).
And what would you know, it also contains the canvases where I made my icons from scratch, even showing various stages of them! You know, something that wouldn't be possible if I stole them from Gerudoku!
Also, nothing in that album is for anyone to use, so please don't ask/take it.
Hello! I was hoping I'd have more time to work on this but since 1.8 has been leaked I've been working all day to get everything done in time for an early release! However, do not despair, just because I have managed to get everything done early does not mean quality was sacrificed!
The changelog is huge, but I will try to get everything covered!
> Glass has been changed to accommodate the new glass panes. I'm not a big fan but I had no choice but to greatly simplify the design because of the way panes work.
> Chests have been redone to fit with the new model layout that Notch has implemented. I did not enjoy this, not only does he force his design on us(top is only 10 pixels in height!) but he also shrunk the entire texture of the chest.
> The HUD hearts have again been redone, and I am quite happy with them now! As well, I have made new graphics for the new 1.8 HUD icons. I will admit I have hardly messed with these in game so I'm not sure if they're working right(poisoned, for example. Or eating tainted food). New graphics include experience bar, food icons and latency icons(smiley faces instead of bars!)
> Of course, graphics to get everything working for 1.8! This incluuuuuuudes:
--> Watermelon blocks
--> Watermelon stems
--> Red and brown mushroom blocks and stems
--> Dungeon blocks, including mossy and cracked
--> Iron bars
--> New bow sprites for readying the bow
--> Ender pearl
--> Raw and cooked beef
--> Raw and cooked chicken
--> Rotten flesh
--> Watermelon slice
--> Pumpkin and Melon seeds
I think that covers it... I will have to say however that almost all the additions into 1.8 seem to be rare occurrences. This means I didn't really get the chance to go through and actually see most of the new graphics in their intended way. For example I have not found any dungeon strongholds, or actual mushroom biomes(I spawned them via mushrooms + bonemeal), and I'm still waiting for my watermelon to grow. I have spent an hour or two just exploring in the game trying to find these things, but it's a time-consuming process that I just couldn't afford to do AND make the graphics. So if there are any problems, please let me know! Also, I'm aware I haven't done EVERYTHING. I'm still not sure about some graphics(like the new ones at the bottom of terrain.png), and some things have been ignored for now such as the Creative Mode GUI.
Surely there is something you could do. I mean, the glass really does look awful.
There really isn't. Glass simply looks broken when you add a border, and they don't want to add semi-transparency support to glass so what you can do with it is severely limited.
Fantastic update. I'm still not really into the new direction for the tree texture, and the one thing I'd say about the new blocks is that perhaps the mushroom patterns should be slightly less busy. Other than those minor issues though this enhancement is terrific, I especially like the stone bricks which amusingly look more like the original cobblestone. Your stone seems to be in reverse! :tongue.gif:
Why don't you do a simple glass border like the default pack does? Sure, it wouldn't exactly be your style, but at least it wouldn't look awful.
If there will be a fix then it will be in the next update, but I can't guarantee anything. I can't say it looks that bad though... I don't feel borders really add that much to it. What happened to the appeal of a large pane of glass?
Yeah, I have to agree with you on most points about this pack. It doesn't seem like notch cares much about texture packers.
I had JUST finished making a new chest and then the next day he released that picture of the new chest graphics, so now I have to make a whole new one. And the iron bars/glass panes don't tile very well, the edges look odd no matter what you do.
But I gotta thank you for that screenshot of the watermelon, I was wondering what the root like texture under wheat was for!
Prefer old logs, as you say =)

Curse PremiumYou can't have borders because they didn't do a very good job of sorting out how to texture the glass panes.
You end up with this:
The rest of the pack looks brilliant though, I especially like the giant mushrooms and the little robot faces for the connection bars.
