Sorry, no shears yet! Been too busy playing with pistons and redstone. Made my first deployable bridge across a span of water. However, I do have screenshots!
> Shears
> New glowstone!
> Empty space in terrain.png now say "Out of date/Error!" instead of just being pink. It's not pretty, but will hopefully help people who get confused after an update as to why some things are pink. Will possibly do the same with items.png
Also of interest, trying my hand at lava. Can't say I've had much luck as it's not a very easy thing to do.
A problem though is that MCPatcher no longer seems to have the ability to use custom tiles for water/lava AND animate via default. That means using custom lava means you HAVE to have static lava and... that sucks. I didn't plan on animating this any time soon but I'd have to release it and have people forced to look at static lava. Not to mention custom animation is never as smooth as default as far as simply moving the tile goes because when stretched over large resolution blocks a pixel increment(the smallest I can work with) ends up being quite large, hence why my water animation can look quite jumpy.
I also did a cooled lava sort of tile, as I planned to have still lava cooled, and moving lava bright... but I don't think the cooled lava would look quite nice in large expanses, such as in the nether.
> Lava!
> Flowing water! Right now it's just a scrolling texture, but I may revisit and try to add some dynamics to it. I wouldn't consider it finished, but it's a start.
> I've slightly blurred the still water. This will hopefully dull the contrast issues a bit and make it blend better with the flowing water.
I think that's it... I will have at the armor again soon, and hopefully something good will come of it!
Okay, made more changes to the water. Still water got further edited with a bit lower contrast and a new underlay animation. The contrast helps with large quantities of water appearing smoother(such as on the horizon).
I've also further edited the flowing water, it now has a slower underlay flow. Sadly this causes it to get brighter as the waves overlap... whether this is good or bad yet I'm not sure.
Always glad to be of inspiration! (Don't worry, my bed uses opacity and a little blurring, and I've blurred the hell out of my water textures, including motion blur). Though noise can be quite an evil addition... :tongue.gif:
Update! Happy to finally be getting these out of the way... that much closer to completion!

Looks awesome! You could try and finish the items. It seems there are only a few left: Bed, cane, redstone repeater (or whatever that is, I don't mess with redstone much) and chocolate chips.
I agree with everyone else, the armour = boss. :biggrin.gif: (the diamond in particular)
Don't know if you remember making your animated water tutorial (on another forum) but it really helped me in making my new animated water for my next update so yea, just wanted to say thank you! It was really, really helpful! :smile.gif:
:smile.gif: I'm glad to have helped, and I'm also glad people are liking the armor(there is a reason I've put them off for so long, it's not an easy thing for me)!
The armors looks great, although yeah they might take time to be completed, also the trees seems pretty nice, the colors makes it look a bit too dark, since the grass is lighter it might make sense the grass and leaves looks significally similar.
Loving the new changes, keep up the awesome work dude. I can't wait to see the new stone you've been working on. I actually quite liked the 3rd version in the alternates (dunno if it was actually cobble haha) so I made myself some quick ores until you release something. I might tweak the colors a bit for the stone though.
You should think about using these armors as placeholders until you get around to make your own :tongue.gif:

Nice! If people want to go ahead and edit those stone images in they're free to, but I'll be honest I'm still not sold yet on the idea of new natural stone(because of course not only do I have to make a nice stone texture that makes me happy, I also have to redo all the ores). And ya, those are actually supposed to be new cobblestone, heh.

Hmm, possibly, though I'm trying to keep other peoples graphics to a minimum. After I finish all the icons I will probably start working on the actual armor textures. I can't really start the textures(even though I want to) until the icons are done because they have to look identical.
I also donated 10$ cause you're awesome and I love your work.
I have seen the site, but I don't think I'm going to want to jump on that quite yet. It's a lot of work maintaining a pack and I don't think I want the added burden of keeping my version up to date on that. Possibly when the pack gets closer to being finished. Also, thanks! I'm just glad people are enjoying it!
Also... onto more updates before bed!
Ladders got a remake! Not sure if this will make the cut, but I guess we'll see.
Also, mob spawners can finally be looked into.
Iron doors got some rust added onto them... this is one of the changes I'm leaning more towards no for. I dunno yet. Can't say I like it, but I don't think it looks bad.
Also, wheat now matures instead of instantly spawning.
(above terrain.png subject to changes, and may not represent the next update)
I think that's all the changes so far. I want to try to postpone the next update until at least the armor icons all being completed... but they're giving me a lot of troubles so I might just have to push it out with them incomplete. Sorry for the wait!
Yeah, I was making the ores and then I was like, oh wait, is this supposed to be cobble cause it didn't look as cobbly in the terrain as it does in game haha. I reverted back to a mix between the gray and purplish stone.
Awesome new updates btw. I like these leaves better.
Alright, big update now. No, sadly armor is not done. However, the rest of the items are!
So here comes update v1.7.2-c!
> All items, besides the armor sprites, are complete! Some are less than stellar(coco beans) but they are subject to be update just as much as any other graphics. Includes:
>> Iron chestplate and helmet
>> Diamond chestplate and helmet
>> Gold chestplate and helmet
>> Saddle
>> Coco beans
>> Redstone repeater
>> Bed
>> Bundle of cane
> New flowing water.
> New ladders.
> New (possibly temporary) rusted iron doors.
> New mob spawner.
> New tree leaves. New Pine leaves soon to follow.
> Water textures have been slightly blurred and contrast lowered as well as an added underlay for a better animated effect.
> Wheat now matures as it grows instead of suddenly appearing in the last frame.
> New sugar cane.
> Lava(yet to be animated).
Since you're departing from fully hand-pixeled water, another option to make the scrolling smoother would be to scroll it across a plane in a 3d-program and rendering it out. That's what I did for my water, anyways. :wink.gif:

Hmm, I'm not too experienced with 3D so I'm not exactly sure how I would go about that process. Though I have been considering lately to do some 3D manipulation for some of the more complex animations like lava.
Also, 3ds Max doesn't have too many good rendering options, can't even output animations :sad.gif:
Woo, iron armor is finally done. This is a big step because if I'm lazy I can edit the boots and tasset for the other armor sets, and it also means I can pull it off no matter how much I may think it's way too hard to do. I can also start working on the armor skins.
I think the biggest problem I had is that when you're working on armor it can look really bad at first even if you're working on a good base(which you really can't tell for a while if it's good or bad until you start on the details). Armor doesn't start looking good until you start adding highlights and contrast, and those are the last steps(at least for me). So for the first 75% of these armor pieces they look downright horrible, which isn't really all that motivational to finish it.
Here you can see an early version before shading, and the final version. Totally different looking image, but the one of the left is what you're staring at most of the time until the very last few pixels(highlights).

Great Glowstone and the pistons feel very unique.

That armor is epic!!
The shears are sexy too, but the armor overshadows all :tongue.gif:

Have you thought about creating a customizer for the alternates using this site?
