Don't really like the replacement for the default hell block :[ They don't tile well, and it just looks like some flat stones. Not quite hellish.
They may be replaced with something like skulls if I can pull it off, I dunno. Then again, what really qualifies as "hellish?"
Items are getting some much-needed attention. I came up with a maybe temporary design for the diamond sword, and stone tools are getting reworked with designs that reflect tools chiseled out of stone as well as new more brownish palette to help tell them apart from iron tools.
These look amazing dusty! I personally love these kind of skins with pixel art instead of those awkward feeling realism textures. Please keep up the great work.
Maybe temporary? That sword looks hot. (Grabs items now before dusty can change it) And I liked your quiver with the shoulder sling so I had to combine those.
Notch could replace Minecraft.net with goatse tomorrow and never publish an update again; the only legal recourse I have is to shake my fist at the screen.
I am disappointed. Yesterday Notch tweeted: "The only officially supported size is 16x16. Unofficially (without any guarantee of buglessness), I will support higher."
This gave me a LITTLE hope with better higher resolution texture support. Maybe fixing some of the major bugs? Well I downloaded the update today and the first thing I did was try out my texture pack. He fixed none of the bugs associated with higher resolutions. Not a single one. Even worse, now that we have hell there are even more textures that get bad treatment:
This makes me very sad, as his tweet gave me the impression while he wasn't going to go around and actively stomp out the bugs with a high priority, he was maybe going to fix them if he passed over them or something.
Right now, regardless of his tweet, we're at the same exact position we were before.
Alright, some changes to address some of the major problems with tools.
> Mostly, all tools are getting a unique make-over. I'm trying to have every tool look different.
> New wooden shovel based on actual shovels.
> New stone shovel.
> New stone pick-axe.
> Stone axe.
> YAY BREAD LOAF!
I'm also updating the package with the new items, since the old ones were causing so many problems with readability.
I know some of the other higher res textrue packs are working ok (with the exception of a couple of blocks). Nice work though :smile.gif: I look forward to trying yours out when it works.
HD patcher has apparently been updated so it should work besides a few of the persistent bugs like watches and portals. It just doesn't work with the default texture loader.
Oh, and I will probably try to make a small website soon, for better organization and distribution. I didn't think it'd be necessary at first but it seems that every pack needs a site now! Sadly I haven't done any web design in a while, but it's always fun to work in html/php again :smile.gif:
I currently have someone letting me use their hosting which he said is mostly unlimited, though if that somehow doesn't work out I'll keep that in mind, thanks :smile.gif:
I'm still not a fan of that cobble, it looks rather dull and flat compared to the rest of your work. Is it perhaps one of the first textures you started?
will it become compatible with the in game texture switcher?
As far as loading the texture pack is concerned it is perfectly compatible. Now... as far as bugs go that's all up to Notch and beyond my control.

Cobblestone will stay unless I come up with a better design. I've already addressed problems concerning changing it to a more traditional cobblestone in previous posts, and it all comes down to a sort of domino effect. If I want traditional cobblestone then the design will be too similar to natural stone. Then if I change natural stone I have to change all the ores and that's a huge chunk of the tileset. It's not like they were just copy/pasted pieces.
For other news, I'm currently working on the website and have a design already mocked up and just need to get it changed over to html/css. Will hopefully be done by tomorrow.
When I'm actually finished I will go ahead and update the original post in this topic with the link instead of bothering with updating that.
I know it renders like crap in IE, but I can't be bothered. Sadly it also offsets stuff in Chrome, so if anyone familiar with cross-browser compatibility that wants to help me out with this I'd be grateful for the help.

I have to say that your stone pick confused me a bit when I loaded up my game :biggrin.gif: it really looks very similar to the iron hoe :tongue.gif:
Other than that this pack is turning out amazing.
Shame on Noch for not supporting 32x native!

Aye. Chances are I will straighten out the stone pick some and hoes may also be changed to Scythes. I didn't want to do that, but the fact is hoes from the side are insanely boring, and in fact with the hoe I made I had to "make up" the side just to actually have something to look at.
Well the core of the site is pretty much done: http://dustyshouri.dreamhosters.com/
I've tested it with Firefox, Chrome and IE. It seems to work fine in Chrome now as I revamped the centering methods completely in CSS. Also contains links now though they're all filler. Like the frontpage says, IE users are screwed, sorry. It's just a chore making it compatible with IE as IE doesn't support most CSS correctly.
Either tonight or tomorrow I will work on actual content. The problem right now I have is that I don't feel like bothering with the HD patcher as I wanted to just wait out official HD support. So it's hard to get some decent screenshots and such. However, if anyone wants to help fill the screenshots section I'd love to feature some nice captures! The method I prefer is default Minecraft window size with F1+F2 to save the screenshot(eliminates the HUD and such). Also, if anyone would be able to make a nice quality youtube video I'd love to embed that on the front page. Sadly I don't think I'll be able to manage that with the tools I have nor connection, or my movie director skills :tongue.gif:
So ya, if you'd like to help me fill up the site with content or have any suggestions let me know. Either post them here or PM or me something.
