Hey i just thought i might help u with an axe and a hoe u might not like it i also tried and failed at the diamond sword and just reskinned the diamond pick cause i wanted to use ur items haha \
Only did diamond and gold axe because i didnt think steel cobble or wood should be like them!
Plz tell me wat u think of it
Chalk me up as another new registrant complimenting you work, Dusty. I really like your take on the default texture's colour scheme. One suggestion on the items is to flip the fishing rod so the line dangles away from the player.
Also, is there a chance, once you've completed everything else, that we might see an alternate, more solid stone texture?
i tryed out ur texture pack this afternoon and while exploring a cave which led all the way to lava i noticed a few things in the process
first of all the gravel which was in ur previous terain.png aint there anymore and got replaced by a grey colored dirt texture
it made me wonder if i downloaded a older version or if u changed ur mind about the gravel
it looked sorta nice to me (the gravel u originaly created)
then when i hit the lava lvl i saw some obsidan
my god thats the most awsome obsidan iv ever seen
especialy in big slabs it looks amazing
now i also saw that the dirt looked a lil like sand underground
its probebly a effect of caves being dark in combination of the rocks looking brownish tricking ur eyes in thinking that the rock is dirt and the lighter dirt is sand
coming to that subject i noticed that allot of ur color choises are very light
wood and lumber look allot alike in color and dirt, rock and even cobblestone all look quite lightbrownish
same with the grass and leafs of trees
they are all very light the grass is even blueish pushing it towards a poisonous color of green
now i duno if u wanted it to be like that but wouldnt it look better if you used the colors of the tree leafs for the grass and then use a darker green for tree leafs and use dark brown for lumber so it puts it more apart from wood
it might sound like a nag seeing iv said stuff before about colors but tbh thats the only real thing that bothers me a lil about your texture pack
i rly rly like the style u draw the textures its just that the colors seem a little off
i suppose thats the problem a little with minecraft that nearly all the building blocks are either grey or brown
and with the halloween update there is gona be a whole lot more of them browns added up to it
so if ur only using light colors they all gona look alike i suppose :ohmy.gif:
Not sure about the gravel? It's always been a recolor, though I suppose that was meant to be a filler... but it was never anything else? I may touch it up in the future though.
As for colors, some colors may look similar because I tend to reuse the palette. Instead of wasting colors picking new colors for every texture, I simply reuse existing ones. It's a matter of efficiency and habit. I suppose when I release the pack as final I will provide a different pack with various colors changes since they seem to get that a lot(though to be honest I'm not exactly sure why, especially things like the blue in the grass).

I actually tried it yesterday, didn't work. The only way to make the fishing rod look right is to draw the icon vertically instead of diagonally, which I don't like the idea of. Hopefully when Notch fixes fishing rods he'll adjust the angle in the code.
I doubt you'll see an alternate stone texture(if you mean natural), sorry. If it was just one block, sure, but changing the natural rock also means changing all the ore blocks as well.
Alright. Well first an apology for the lack of updates. It might not look like it but it takes a lot of effort and time to make these graphics. The items themselves can take up over an hour just for a single icon depending on the complexity. It ended up where I was spending every moment of free time working on this since I started, which I don't regret as I enjoyed it. However it paid its toll as I started having wrist pains last week so I decided to take a break and give my wrist a rest.
Anyways, today I thought I'd try at the armor again, and started with the leather armor. Yes, I went with Samurai armor design for some reason O.o Probably because I searched leather armor and that showed up a lot. Not sure if I like or hate it, but like I said armor is pretty hard for me. This is all I've got so far, but I thought I'd post it so people know I haven't forgotten about this.
edit: Okay, some complications with the new Halloween update. Nothing major, but this pretty much applies to all texture pack makers as far as I can tell. The grass and leaf textures are now grayscaled in the texture pack. That means colors are being handled by code. I haven't messed with anything yet as far as patching the updated jar, but that may limit what texture makers are able to do. Everyone MAY end up with the same grass colors. Even if you supply your own colors you may end up with the code forcing its colors upon it and probably messing them up. This is disappointing for me, but I guess we'll have to deal with it.
Secondly, I imagine the HD patcher is now broken so further updates will probably have to wait for that to be patched. Xau said he will keep it up-to-date so I'm sure that won't take terribly long.
I am in the process of converting over for the Halloween textures. However, as it is Xau's patcher has some bugs so I don't think I'm going to bother updating the zip currently(as it stands I haven't fixed up the archive anyways). But if people want me to go ahead with the package anyways I will try to update it as soon as I can. I'm having some problems coming up with block ideas for hell since they're pretty abstract and don't represent anything really. I was thinking skulls for the main block but that seems to be overdone, maybe organs for the "squishy face" block? Gold will probably remain some sort of gold variety.

"Squishy face" block? Maybe it would help you get ideas if you knew what the blocks did?
I wouldn't recommend skulls for the main block, because it is EVERYWHERE. So something that tiles nicely would be appreciated.
Squishy face block is slow sand, slows you & other mobs down.
And the gold one creates light.
Sorry if you knew this already. I don't really have any recommendations though. Your pumpkin is pretty awesome by the way, looks reminiscent of a creeper, which is cool.
Aye, I'm aware of the purpose of the blocks. I called them "squishy faces" because of their appearance. Also, tiling won't be a problem :smile.gif: If it doesn't tile right then you're going to have a problem whether there are a lot of blocks or just a few. If I'm not happy with the way something tiles I won't use it.
The problem with making the main block organic is that it'd make more sense for the blocks that slow you down to be.
Wow. How have I missed this pack? This is really beautiful and quite original and stylized.
I love your stone textures. It make underground caverns seem warmer and earthier. And the ores are just fantastic.
Your take on window glass is nifty and original. I particularly like your doors and furnaces. All the stone / cobblestone / halfstone works together well. The creeper-face pumpkins are awesome. So are the iron / gold / diamond blocks. The obsidian looks great. I like your sapling too.
You've got some really great item icons as well. There I have one suggestion -- I think it would be better if there were a little more obvious difference between the stone and iron tools.
Really great work here. Thanks so much for sharing it with us!

Aye, I plan to darken the stone tools up, but I was trying to hold that off. Eventually I guess I will have to try to get it done sooner.
Also, I touched up a few things. Gravel got fixed a little to be less boring. Minetrack turn got extra planks removed. Lastly the window got a new design. I'm not sure if I'm gonna keep it as it might be blocking off too much vision, but I haven't bothered to test the new stuff in-game.
Saw your thread on Pixelation. My advice as someone who has contributed artworks to the community (different game - Unique Armoury), is listen to constructive criticism of course, but don't try to please everyone. Go with your own style. This is quality art. You know what you're doing.
