T^T I am waaaaaay too retarded to figure out how to install this thing..I just wanna see the cherry blossoms and for the top of the grass to match the sides ;-; the rest of it seems fine but why don't these things work? I just spent about 2 hours trying to figure it out and got nowhere. Am I cursed with mismatching grass and the same trees in every month foreverrrr? D: halp!
You, sir, have astounded me with the effort and time it took to make this pack. Not only one, but 12.
This changes the seasons and graphics without changing the atmosphere of Minecraft, like most other texture packs do. I applaud you. I like how the Creeper changes with the seasons, too. Im not looking ahead of any texture pack ahead of November so I can be wow'd.
I'm having real trouble getting this texture pack to work properly.
For instance, right now I want cherry blossoms in my game, so I've set my texture pack to the February option. However, when I do this, the trees are all green, rather than the advertised pink. It's rather odd, since when I look at the terrain.png file in the February folder, the pink tree graphic is clearly there. Is anyone else experiencing this problem at the moment? Any fixes?
The way Quandary is now packaged, it can still be used with the rotator. You just need to move some files around. If you're already using the rotator, and it already works fine, there's no need to make any changes. If you're installing the new version of Quandary, you can do the following:
3. Highlight all 12 season zip files in bin, right click, and select "Extract each archive to separate folder". This tells winrar to extract each zip file into a folder named after the zip file. When you are done you should have 12 folders in /.minecraft/bin named Quandary01January through Quandary12December, inside of which are the texture files. If you don't have winrar, you can do this manually with any zip utility. Once this step is complete, you can remove the zip files from /bin.
4. Enjoy! Just use the rotator as normally described in the readme.
Sadly, I have been busy. If/when I have time, I plan to update the rotator so that it can use the files found in your texture folder, instead of requiring you to install the files to /bin as well.

Since I haven't looked at the code for rotator, I'm not sure if it's locked to a 365 calendar or if it has coding logic to account for leap years, but since it was intended for general texture rotation purposes, I'm going to assume it's locked to 365.
The texture rotator checks your system calendar to see how many days it has been since Jan. 1. It then applies the appropriate numbered texture based on the day #. So if you have 12 entries in texture list.txt, you'll get your first texture on Januray 1st, 13th, 25th, etc, every 12th day. If you want each calendar day to match up to its Quandary month, and don't want it to be wrong on leap years, you can create an alternate texture list.txt with the extra entry. Just call it "leap year texture list.txt" and only use it on leap years.
I did write the program with a customizable list so that people could do what you're talking about, so kudos for sharing your modded texture list file! But could you distribute your modifications alone and link people to where to find the rotator and Quandary? You've removed my readme, and therefore removed my name from my work, and the part where I thank ExtraNoise.
Steeb - did you make the update to use /Texturepacks folder instead of /Bin? I DL'ed your Rotator fix on Friday 11/26 and (after following instructions several times) I can only get Shortcut to work using the following path:
When i move all quandary .zips and unzipped files to /bin along with all rotator files, nothing happens (yes I updated my shortcut path...)
Foliage isn't changing when Rotator shortcut executes correctly using /Texturepacks/, but i am waiting until 12/01 to see if rumor of monthly season rotation is true....
You can see the mobs on my site. Also, the Watch, compass (I think), and grass colour textures are currently bugged. Notch will hopefully fix this soon.
EDIT: Don't download my mob pack unless you plan on using it with something other then Quandary. The latest version of Quandary includes the most recent version of the pack.
Does anyone want that? Or are we past needing it to be automated, with our new found easy selector?
I prefer the automation, really. A rewrite to work with the selector would be a faster solution, but you should know that in addition to the grass and foliage colors being broken, the menu also only shows a maximum of four packs, so this would also be an ineffective solution for those of us who prefer a monthly system.
(emphasis added) - Just wanted to mention you can left-click and drag to scroll the menu up and down.
Edit:
To fix the grass, move grasscolor.png from an unzipped Quandary 'misc' folder to the 'misc' folder in minecraft.jar. Should work with all quandary grass colours.
Detailed instructions (for Windows):
1. Press the Start Button; in the run box type %appdata%\.minecraft to go to your Minecraft folder
2. Go to the bin folder
3. Open minecraft.jar with 7zip or similar archive program
4. Go to the misc folder within the open archive, and leave open
5. Go to .minecraft\texturepacks
6. Extract Quandary01January.zip (as an example; any will do)
7. Go to the Quandary01January\misc folder
8. Left-click and drag grasscolor.png into the open archive
9. Close and save the archive.
So, I've made a version of this pack for the Dynamic Decorations mod if any of you want it
I've also done a few changes to my own eidted version of the September pack.
Here's my September Pack version WITHOUT the addons for the mod.
Grasscolor(you will have to put these 2 in the actual minecraft.jar, as the above poster said) Foliage
Here's the addons for the mod WITH my edited version of September
And here's only the addons for the advanced version, if you don't want my edits.

That's very helpful, thanks.
Here's my problem... I love all the Quandary texture packs, but I don't want to use the automatic rotator. I want to change seasons whenever I feel like it by selecting them from Minecraft's ingame menu. What's the simplest way to do this?
I suppose for now I'll just make 13 different versions of minecraft.jar and manually swap them out. (One for each month, and one with default colors for use with other texture packs.)

Just put them in the texture pack folder. When you want to switch go to the in game selector sreen and drag to scroll up or down.

The reason I asked is because simply placing the packs in the texture pack folder like normal doesn't work for Quandary, as several people in the last few pages of this thread have discovered. The foliage and grass fail to change color if you attempt to do this the normal way.
yeah I'm with ReaperofDeath, I friggin love this pack, I added my own custom items because I'm OCD like that, but the actual terrain file I'm in love with
