First off: I wanted to thank you SO MUCH for finally getting around to the update. I'll miss the seasons, but it was a little bothersome getting the rotation add-on to work, while still using other packs. Thank you again, and again, many times over. I've always liked your pack. And I'm sure the community as a whole is happy too. Even if they don't know how to properly state it.
I would love it if you released an autumn version. The current one is closest to one of the seasons I used the most. The other two were an autumn one, and the flowery one. I could easily live without the flowers for an autumn pack.
There MAY be a way to make the biomes follow seasonal colors. I saw something on Painterly that looked like it did. But in play, the gradient seemed to have no effect on the leaves.

I'm even planning on changing the sandstone blocks to a more default looking design, as I feel I'm straying too far from the default textures with those.
That's the one thing I was gonna mention not liking. And for the same reason. I'm glad you're already working on it.
Registered an account just to say thanks for this pack (and the recent update). I've tried a dozen various textures and always went back to the default theme until now. Not too contrasty, not too much of a dramatic departure from the original theme, unintrusive, pretty and playable....I think this is just what I've been looking for.
I do seem to take a fair fps hit when using it, but its worth the tradeoff so far.
Would you be able to include the seasons as separate texture packs, while keeping the "default" one?
The different seasons were my favorite part of the old Quandary, and I was upset when you weren't able to include them in 3.3. With the new texture pack feature, you wouldn't need the rotator to switch packs every season, and they wouldn't have to to be mandatory.
I understand if it's impossible or inconvenient for you to do this, but if you could, I would really appreciate it. Thanks!
The brick-styled cobble texture was my doing. I posted it way back in this thread and Cpt. Corn decided to incorporate it in his pack. But from what I understand, it will soon changing back to the original style.
About the cobblestone texture, there may or may not be a change for quite awhile. From what I know, a lot of people prefer brick-style cobblestone, even if nature (as flowing lava when cooled turns to cobblestone) does not agree.
Right now, I am in process of texturing all the mobs and, thus, the refinement of the terrain may be delayed for quite awhile (but we'll see). After that, I figure that once I have refined the terrain to near-perfection, I will commence the development of the seasons, with 4-6 seasonal flavors, with their own significant and amplified feel (at least that's what I hope to see).
I believe it is compatible so maybe you would like that. :wink.gif:
But if you're looking for something to ultimately redefine how Minecraft should look, then you could check out my pack, Coterie Craft, which is a spin-off from Quandary.
Side grass is getting fixed in 1.5. Perhaps you could re-add the old grass?
This would certainly save the trouble of having manual installment. I've had my people install Risugami's Side Grass Fix for a month or two now, and knowing that Notch will fix the side grass will surely eliminate one less obstacle and enhance the look of many texture packs to come.
I believe this is one of the things ExtraNoise was waiting for... other than reviving the seasons. :biggrin.gif:

No, The Quandary Texture Pack has only been compatible with Beta 1.3.
Yes, there is a texture pack named Quandary Classic Roots: viewtopic.php?f=1021&t=232078

Yes, there are exceptions and a lot of people have done a great job keeping Quandary alive, but it will have to stop somewhere.
Just wonderin'.
