D'oh, sorry about that - I read up to page 9 without finding any real mention of 32x32 before posting. Mumblemumble Murphy mumblemumble...
So, that having been decided, does anyone *else* have any plans to *unofficially convert* Painterly to 32x32? :wink.gif:

Without just resizing it, it would take a ton of work and essentially be a completely new pack if I remade Painterly's stuff at 32x. With just resizing it (as you seem to be aware) there is no benefit for 32x over 16x. I'd just recommend using 16x16 Painterly if you like it, and ditch HD. The other option is doing it yourself, MS Paint is completely capable of doing the work if you don't have PS and don't want to learn/use GIMP.

Wrong. MS Paint doesnt support transparency.
I think he's talking about Paint.NET, which is (imho) easier to work with than GIMP.
Oh right, transparency. Well, edit the thing in paint and then change all the transparent spots in GIMP/Paint.net/Your editor of choice. It's really not that critical what you use to edit these types of graphics though- as long as it's got a pencil tool and pixels, it'll work.
I've downloaded the 'Painterly Pack'. It is absolutely brilliant! I have one problem though... I chose the 'crate' options for my solid ore blocks, unfortunately the sides and bottom just have the same texture as the top. I checked 'terrian.png' and the sides and bottom appear to be there. Has anyone else had this problem and is there anything I can do about it? : S
Thanks in advance...
Yep, just noticed this today. I was excited to be able to store crates, but instead I got a pretty bland-looking block of gold.

In another thread some guys figured out just what part of the trianlge pic that is the overlay for grass and leaves corresponds to which biome.
Here is a relevant picture and explanation so that you can customize the color for each biome:

I reversed the code and generated an image that should show exactly how the biomes map to the two colors.png files.
* RAINFOREST (rainforest)
* SEASONAL FOREST (seasonal forest)
* PLAINS (plains)
* DESERT (desert)
* FOREST (forest)
* SHRUBLAND (shrubland)
* SAVANNA (savanna)
* SWAMPLAND (swampland)
* TAIGA (taiga)
* TUNDRA (tundra)

thats doubling the work...
Not really. I've got Photoshop CS5 Extended, and adding transparency to images takes seconds. It's a matter of Selecting the white spaces (or whatever color spaces) that you want transparent, and hitting Delete.
Its still creating extra work.....I dont understand peopels reasons for not using Photoshope if they have it....I mean it can do everything paint can do...even pixel art.
I absolutely LOVE the way this pack is customizable! What I don't like is the way the whole thing looks. Mainly the dirt. For this reason I'll stick with doku's.

I installed everything I didn't get with the pack, too.

Is there supposed to be a blur file (misc > pumpkinblur.png) for the 'Creeper Pumpkin' variant? Because I only get the one for the default style pumpkin style when I d/l the pack.
For the colorfully tuned crowd. Thanks Kas, Painterly is great! *copy paste this little flower combo into the corresponding section on your terrain.png.
