While i do LOVE your pack.... Your Sandstone Texture Sucks. I'm sorry it just.... Its not very good. At all. It looks less like sandstone and more like wood, Sorry.
-EDIT-
Fail, didn't realize you had a new sandstone texture. My bad, Thanks for fixing it :biggrin.gif:
@jnv9:
As per just about every newb in this topic, read the instructions. If you used the In-Game texture Selector packs, read the file "The Difference.txt" to work out why. And above all, if you cannot be bothered to look through the entire topic or even just the OP for an answer before being a nuisance and posting a question that has appeared at least twice on every page, at least use the Search function. If you're too lazy to do all this... just work it out yourself. Please. For the sake of everyone else who has a sore head from facepalming too much! It's a common problem. If you're too lazy to read the instructions, I will explain it briefly:
Either 1. You used an in-game texture selector pack
or
2. You used the HD pack without installing the HD patcher or reading the install instructions.
Do not come here asking questions that could have been solved by reading the included instructions. Those files aren't there because Koolwitak WANTS you to ignore them.
/rant
Sorry. But it has been asked a billion times before... in just about EVERY thread that has a HD texture pack.
I just downloaded it and was looking around! I have to give it... / It looks amazing and realistic, the only blocks I don't like are bedrock/adminium and dirt, although I do like the dirt when grass grows on it.
Unzip the Mixcraft v23.zip and go to the Complete texture packs\Mixcraft HD\ folder. In there is the file with the install instructions, a folder containing the several versions of the HD patcher, and a zipfile containing the actual pack. Open the text file and read the instructions. Twice.
GAH!!! I tried to install this pack, followed all instructions, prayed to notch ect... Sadly, it still didn't work. For some reason foliage, torches, doors, and pretty much everything else man made (except cobble) has this weird solid pink color. Please help me, I had this texture on a different computer, and I want to use it again!
try it at about 20% lighter. It'll match your lighter sand, as it should. Try and remove a little bit of your yellowish tinge as well, if you can.
I don't want to do that is because the blocks in Mixcraft are usually well-saturated with deep colors.
It already looks too... un-mixcrafty... if you know what I mean. I'm worried it won't fit in very well.
Quote from vexx32 »
Oh... And also... Knowing that Sandstone has three textures, may I recommend making a second version to go on top and bottom? Make a smooth one for those :wink.gif:
The top is already a smoother, slightly pinker stone, but I guess I could make one for the bottom.
Quote from vexx32 »
It's simpply because koolwitak decided to disable biome compatibility by making a blank grasscolor.png and then make grayscaled wild grass because it uses biomes. Koolwitak... Just enable biomes... Please. It's so much easier. For people who don't like biomes, they can always disable it themselves. It's not difficult.
Oh so THATS why WildGrass doesn't work... Still, I don't want grass biomes until Notch fixes the sides.
You think it looks good, but I think it's ugly. Also, WildGrass is an OPTIONAL mod, so its not necessary.
The most I will do is make some alternate pack that has biomes, but the default Mixcraft will not.
Quote from vexx32 »
Bedrock could do with a bit of work, though :tongue.gif:
Yeah, well I suppose I could add more contrast to it... but it's not like people see it very often anyway.

Well, all you have to do is add a standard (or highly modified, depends on how much work you wanna do on it) grasscolor.png, and an alternate terrain.png that has a grayscaled grass texture. :biggrin.gif:

Righto. Your problem is that you foolishly attempted to install it without even peeking inside the file you downloaded. The "Mixcraft v23.zip" file contains several packs that you can use. Extract it, and then read every text file you can find inside for info on how to install it correctly.

Hello I have a problem with bricks attitude as they see it and fire a piece of the portal
Your problem, my friend, is similar to the other one I answered just above in this post. Put simply, you didn't read the install instructions, or used a Texture Selector Pack without reading "The Difference.txt" as you should have. If you did NOT use a Texture Selector Pack, then you simply forgot to install the HD patch.
@Koolwitak: I'll type you up a new txt file that you can just put in the root of your zipfile that will be labeled "README!!!!!!!!!!!.txt" and will explain absolutely everything about the packs. It'll be easy to find and should hopefully reduce the number of newb problems.
EDIT: Gee, it was shorter than I thought. It should suffice, though. Edit it as you think may help. Here:

1. The Difference (between In-game Selector Packs, and the Complete Packs)
2. How to Install (either an In-game Selector pack, or a Complete Pack, along with how to install extras)
3. How to Uninstall
4. Troubleshooting
First things first, READ THIS ENTIRE TEXT FILE IF YOU HAVE PROBLEMS!
BEFORE going to the Mixcraft thread and posting "SOMETHInKZ WRONG!!!! HALP ME PLZ!!!!" <-- DO NOT DO THIS. Be descriptive.
When this guide says to "put this file inside the mixcraft HD.zip, in such and such a folder", the file it is referring to
is in the Complete texture Packs\Mixcraft HD (main pack) folder in this zipfile.
===========================================================================================================================
== 1. THE DIFFERENCE ===================================================================================================
===========================================================================================================================
Firstly, the two folders you see here along with this text file contain several sets of packs.
This is the difference between the Texture Selector Packs and the Complete Texture Packs:
-- COMPLETE PACKS
Contain their own custom water animations, and the grass and tree textures will be much better.
However, they will take longer to install, and it IS slightly harder to do. If you're having trouble, feel free to
ask for help in the Mixcraft thread, but be specific as to what you're having trouble with. Install guides are below.
-- IN-GAME SELECTOR PACKS
Are forced to use the default Minecraft water animations, as well as Biome colours (i.e. different shades of green on
leaves and grass). However, they are much simpler to install than the Complete Packs. Also, some textures such as the
Pumpkin, Bricks and Netherstone will be glitchy, and you'll see fire/lava/water animations on parts of or in place of
them. Don't complain if you get this result, as it was YOUR choice.
===========================================================================================================================
== 2. HOW TO INSTALL ===================================================================================================
===========================================================================================================================
Seeing as there are two separate types of packs to install, there will be two install methods.
-- INSTALLING A COMPLETE PACK
If you simply wish to install the standard Mixcraft HD pack, without adding any extras or putting anything extra in,
skip ahead to "Installing the Pack" for the quick install guide for the Complete Packs.
PICKING THE PACK
First, go into the "Complete Texture Packs" folder. Then pick the pack you want to install. There are several
editions. The most obvious one is the Mixcraft HD pack. You can see this pack's folder in the Complete Texture Packs
folder. The others are all inside of the Alternate Add-on Packs folder. The ONLY other HD packs inside this folder
are the Octoberfest Edition and Christmas Edition packs. Should you wish to use one of these packs, you will need to
go into its folder, select ALL of its files in its folder (there should be a couple of other files along with the
folders called "misc", "mob" and such. The directory should also contain a terrain.png file. Copy all of these files
into the Mixcraft HD.zip, which is found inside the Complete Texture Packs\Mixcraft HD (main pack) folder.
USING THE OPTIONS AND EXTRAS
The "Options and Extras" folder contains little bits and pieces that fit in with the Mixcraft packs to some degree,
but did not make it into the final packs for some reason. Should you wish to use one of these textures, read on.
Otherwise, skip ahead to "Installing the Pack". Basically, inside the Options and Extras folder is more folders. I'll
explain each of these, and where to put them.
First, the Alternate Foliage. This one is a single file which just changes the Biome colors slightly, so you
have less reddish leaves, and more green foliage. This file should be put in the Misc folder in Mixcraft HD.zip.
Second, the Alternate Moon. This one is also a single file which is just a higher resolution moon (which is in
fact bigger than Mixcraft's Sun), but looks way more awesome than Mixcraft's default moon. To add this into the pack,
put the file in the Terrain folder in Mixcraft HD.zip.
Third, the Animals and Enemies. Each of the folders in here contains an alternate texture for a certain animal
or monster in Minecraft. Some may look better or worse than Mixcraft's normal mob skins, depending on your personal
opinion. To install one or more of these, go into the folder that houses the mob skin you want to change, and copy
all the files in that folder into the Mob folder inside the Mixcraft HD.zip.
Fourth, the FPS Pumpkin HUD. Basically, using this file makes it so that the normally obstructive view that you
see from inside a Pumpkin when wearing it as a Helmet is changed so it looks like you're wearing a helmet from an
epic FPS game. It has no real functionality, it just looks epic. To use it, copy the file you'll find inside the
folder into the Misc folder inside the Mixcraft HD.zip.
Fifth, the Guns 'n' Ammo additions. These change your Bow to look like a gun (there's two separate types of
this Extra) and the arrows to look like the matching bullets. Pick one of the two (either the Musket or Plasma Rifle)
and then copy the file contained in the HD gui folder into the GUI folder in Mixcraft HD.zip, and put the file that
is in the Item folder into the item folder in mixcraft HD.zip.
Sixth, the Normal Clouds. Clouds were taken out due to the fact that they were too low and obstructed view
from higher parts of the landscape. To put clouds back in your game, simply copy the file in this folder into the
Environment folder in mixcraft HD.zip.
INSTALLING THE PACK
Once you've got everything you want inside your Mixcraft HD.zip, it's time to install it. Go into the Complete
Texture Packs folder, and into the Mixcraft Hd (main pack) folder. Then Go into the HD Texture Patch folder, and then
into either the Windows or Max + Linux folder. Run the file you see inside. Everything should be all filled in for
you, except for one field - the Texture Pack. Click the Browse button beside this field, and go find your
Mixcraft HD.zip, which if you didn't know already is contained in the Complete Texture Packs\Mixcraft HD (main pack)
folder. Double-click it to select it for use. You should be returned to the patcher's main dialog. CLick the Patch
button, and wait until it says "Success! ....Probably." Run Minecraft, and it should be installed.
-- INSTALLING AN IN-GAME SELECTOR PACK
This is far simpler than the above, due to lack of options. Simply pick the pack you want to install, then go to your
.minecraft folder (in windows, press Windows Key+R and type in "%appdata%\.minecraft" (without quotes), then put the
zipfile you got from the In-Game Selector packs folder into your texturepacks folder. Then run Minecraft, and click
the button that says "Mods and Texture Packs", and select your chosen pack from the list.
===========================================================================================================================
== 3. HOW TO UNINSTALL =============================================================================================
===========================================================================================================================
-- If you've installed an In-Game Selector pack, just delete it from your .minecraft\texturepacks folder.
-- If you've installed a HD pack using the HD patcher, you'll need to go into your .minecraft\bin folder and delete the
file called "version". THen run Minecraft and it will redownload the latest version for you, erasing all traces of
this texture pack.
===========================================================================================================================
== 4. TROUBLESHOOTING =============================================================================================
===========================================================================================================================
"HELP! My Netherstone/Bricks/Pumpkin texture looks weird!!!"
-- Read the first section of this file.
"I can't get the HD Patcher to work properly!"
-- Post on the Mixcraft thread, but be very specific about what you're having trouble with. It saves us time and gets the
pack working much quicker. Tell us where you're having trouble, and errors it's giving, etc.
For anything else you're having trouble with or any suggestions you may have, post in the Mixcraft thread in the
Texture Packs subforum of Mapping and Modding on the Official Minecraft Forums.
Your sand isn't. This is sandstone, therefore it should look similar to sand, correct?
Yes, but it should still look aesthetically pleasing as a building material, in the same way brick does.
I want it to be semi-realistic AND look good, I try to sacrifice some of the realism for the sake of beauty.

It looks great, and I might replace "The Difference" with this one so it's the first thing people see,
but I dont want this to be the ONLY text file, since there are many different kinds of packs and extras.
I think people should just find the pack they want, and read the instructions under that pack, and
this way they won't get confused by so many different installation guides all in the same place.
Two other big problems:
- Almost no one actually reads a "Readme" because theyre usually pointless, but if you call it "How to Install"
then they see it's just an installation guide instead of some lame advertisements, so they actually read it.
- People will see how long the readme is and almost immediately just say "**** it, I can do it myself",
which is exactly what we DONT want people to do, so that's why I split it up into smaller and easier chunks.
True enough... but if we DON'T have a large file, and we have all these miniature files all over the place, people miss a whole heap of them. Ergo, they either do not read the install instructions, or something similar, then come here complaining. I guess you could just simplify it a bit.

How does this look? The problem I have is that it looks a bit boring... maybe some cracks in the stone?
Also the higher contrast bedrock, only a slight change: (new above, original below)
And I made the chests less orange, also a slight change: (new above, original below)
chests look alot better, but the sandstone is still a little too yellowish-orange. maybe make it closer to the beige of the sand? also cracks would be cool

You know you need to patch it right? So why did you install it manually? Of course the graphics are messed up.
Just read the install instructions, it's not so hard. There's a Mixcraft HD.zip inside the package you downloaded. That's the one you need to patch.
