it should just replace the files. I've done a patch using Bumpmaft's textures straight over the top of Mixcraft with no problems, so simply repatching it should be fine. Or, if its already installed, just copy the relevant .png file into the "mob" folder inside the Minecraft.jar.
Hrm. I've just gone and replaced files many a time, with no problems at all. Maybe it's because the mixcraft files are a different resolution than the originals...
Oh, and by trial and error... I have worked out the leaves on all trees actually work really well if you grayscale them, Koolwitak :smile.gif: (You do need to keep a little bit of green in there, but...)
I made a gif comparing the original to this one, what do you think? Is the transition too slow? Too fast?

Sorry, wrong text file. Maybe you should've read "HOW TO INSTALL.TXT" like everyone else does :tongue.gif:
Koolwitak should probably remove the instructions.txt - it's old, outdated and not very helpful...
Sorry, forgot about that file, I fixed it for Version 24, dont worry =D

MAYBE I can try it with 50% grayscale, then 25% if it doesn't look good, then back to 0% if I really hate it
I will test each of these and get back to you with the results
will this make it lag?
cuz im using my laptop just to play minecraft casually so its not really good if i go to normal or far it lags a bunch
i just play on short
so will it make it lag more?

The higher the resolution of a texture pack, the more likely it is that the game will lag
This texture pack is 32x32 and the default is 16x16, although some packs go as high as 64x64 and 128x128
So to answer your question, this pack will probably not create any lag for you, but it's possible
Has anyone noticed that white wool, when placed, sometimes turns a very light shade of gray with this texture pack? It seems to be most evident, at least for me when I was replacing my wood floor in my house with alternating black and white wool blocks. Some of the white wool looked white, while others looked slightly gray.
I'm not yet sure if it is due to this as I don't like the look of glass with the default pack, and haven't used it since I put down the wool floor.

It may just be a trick of your mind. In case you hadn't noticed, the colors surrounding a color you're focusing on may affect the way your brain sees the color e.g. white around a pale yellow may seem to blend in with the yellow a bit, whereas with black surounding it, it would be much more visible. It's probably your mind thinking its light gray because of the black tiles around it. Also, it could be that the light emitted from your monitor may mix around a fair bit, so the black and white parts may be slightly intermingled by the time the light reaches your eyes, even at the speed light travels. If it's not a physical explanation, it could be a flaw in either the HD patcher or Notch's code and the way it handles the new dyes.

Experimental sandstone texture (donated by White Owl)
~cut
The brick looking texture for it doesn't really fit well in my opinion. Maybe something a bit more natural looking?
I agree. Has anyone seen a natural sandstone texture in another pack that I can use as a reference?
I'll have a look for you. Actually... cancel that, I'll make a nice big texture for you (say, 256x256), make it tile better, see if still looks okay, and post it. And a 32x32 version, see if it still looks okay, people. The original image was just one I found on Google Images. I tiled it myself...
It doesn't have the natural "layers" that some types of sandstone has, but those wouldn't show up very much in a 32x32 texture anyway, so i just went with a smooth sandstone. If I can find one that has layers, this could be possibly used for the top. Modify this if you will. i haven't seen any natural-looking sandstone in any other packs. Hold on a little bit while I search for a layered sandstone image.
here's my sandstone texture attempts, see if they're any good:
256x256:

I kind of want it to have layers, mostly because I don't want it looking too much like regular sand.

Hey can you fix the new log block?
It's just plain gray with a (blue?) border.
I have no idea what you're talking about. I have included textures in Version 23 for all the new blocks.

You probably haven't installed the pack properly. It works for just about everyone else. Unzip the Mixcraft v23.zip file and read the included instructions. It should fix your problems.

Ask, and you shall receive! It was only a quick job of tiling, but I preserved the layers rather well, don't you think? It tiles almost perfectly (i still need a little practice ).

EDIT: Tested my custom texture in-game.... and it actually works pretty damn well =D
Here's a pic for ya all of my Sandstone texture :biggrin.gif:
As you can see, it's lost all its grainyness, so its a rather smooth sandstone, but it still looks pretty damned good :biggrin.gif:
I think I'll build the front wall of my house out of it :smile.gif:
Another thing I wanted to ask for a while now: Why isn't the grass biome compatible in this pack? I started a new world last week, and It doesn't look to good in the desert.
Hey Vexx, and anyone else who cares, what do you think of this sandstone?
(Ignore the outline on the middle block, that's just because my crosshair was on it)

I took out grass biomes because I hate that the sides of the grass aren't affected by the color change.
When Notch adds some sort of support for biomes on the sides of grass, I will add them back in.

Is it possible to get this running with BetterLight ?
Yeah, I use BetterLight with my pack all the time, it makes it look 10 times better!
PS: Can someone PLEASE respond to my top post? I want feedback on the gif!
Is it just right, too fast, or too slow? Should I use it on my front page?

I took them out. Even if you change the image file, the clouds will always look like rectangular blocks.
The original clouds are in the "Options and Extras" folder, read the instructions in that folder if you want them.

Nopsry, doesn't really look like minecraft at all.

It looks closer to the original textures than a lot of other packs do
I'm not yet sure if it is due to this as I don't like the look of glass with the default pack, and haven't used it since I put down the wool floor.
thanks man downloading now
y do the bricks look like this?
I can't see the image, but I'm assuming the bricks have fire textures on them.
This is because you most likely did not install the HD Texture Patch like I said to do in the instructions.
