I'd suggest that you find a white marble texture and see what you can do to make it tileable, then shift the hue/saturation and color levels (I usually use photoshop XD) until it has a firey yellow-orange colour.
Hey Kool not sure if you've seen this but someone has fixed the ore blocks problem all you have to do is add this download to your minecraft.jar that way we can see your beautiful blocks. Ore Blocks Fix

Use this http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/19139/ez7z to open winrar files is OSX. I don't like the program though and only use it when absolutely necessary. MacUpdates has practically every utility you could need to add on to your mac, bookmark the site, use google, and never ever get stopped at such a basic spot in an instillation process again.
The moral of the story is:READ THE OTHER POSTS, THEY MIGHT ANSWER YOUR QUESTION!!
I vote for the revised original one.
And I think the sponge would have looked good too if the colors were the other way around (the holes to be yellow and the rest to be dark orange).
I could probably do that by inverting the colors and then changing the hue back to yellow...
Personally I would still rather use the lanterns, since they look better in ceilings and floors and on lamps,
but I guess if everyone wants the original one then that's fine too... Lanterns can be the alternate one!
