Is this texture pack updated with Pumpkins and Lightstone and Bloodstone? If so, I WANT IT! :biggrin.gif:
BTW Now with the new update re-skinning Minecraft is simple.
You appear to be very uninformed of the workings of my texture pack...
First of all I have had pumpkins, lightstone, and bloodstone since the day the halloween update was released,
which was almost a month ago, so yes of course have those blocks as well as every other block...
Your second statement has quite a few problems... I obviously know about the addition of the texture selector since I am a texture pack creator, on top of that it was added over two weeks ago, and on top of THAT the texture selector creates many problems with HD packs so it is almost pointless to even use with HD packs at all
Sorry for sounding rude, I just would like people to actually do some looking before asking me questions.
If you had downloaded the pack, you would be able to see all of the textures and read the information files
I'm not sure why, but the current version of the patch that's used in this texture patch seems to be messing with the latest update. First and most obvious thing is that it resets the version number back to 1.2.2 when it should be 1.2.3_01 or something like that... forgotten the official version...
Also, although I do like the new textures very much, I have a few minor gripes with water and lava... When the HD texture patch is updated again, could you possibly re-do the water and lava textures? I mean, lava still glows and all, but the texture itself is pretty unmoving - it stays much the same, no nice glowing effect on the actual texture, like there is on the default one. Water is a bit better, but it still doesn't look like it flows properly... maybe you could make one that tiles perfectly, so that when it "flows" it would look more natural? <-- this should be done for lava too, probably :smile.gif: It's a difficult thing to do, but it probably should tile perfectly in at least 4 directions... maybe the diagonal directions could tile perfectly too...?
Those few things are the only real problems... sorry for being long-winded, but it's just me and I can't help it :smile.gif:
Oh, and other thing is that maybe the borders on the glass texture should be a little thinner, cuz when you make a glass wall, the borders of the glass really obstruct the view... as in make it almost pointless... sure you can still see stuff, but not very well.

Great job, man!
I agree with the lava bit of your comment, but the water is great.
It looks perfect, till you see how it behaves when water spreads over a flat surface. The texture gets flipped and rotated every which way, and when it's not tileable, it creates some strange effects. If it were made tileable and perhaps with a better "watery" sheen (if you know what I mean), it'd look better.
Thanks, man!
A little piece of advice:
While looking through your texture pack's terrain.png, I noticed two main things about water and lava that are causing the problem:
First, the water texture is almost completely opaque. Compared to the standard one, which is extremely transparent, it is very unusual.
Second, both water and lava textures are not using the same tiles for their animations. It looks live you've just cropped a water or lava texture to the confines of five tiles, when it should be a single tile copied five time, and only changed a bit, from what I can see of the default water and lava textures...
If you have Photoshop, you can use a downloadable filter to make it tile perfectly.
Thanks :smile.gif:
I'm sorry for being noobish and untechy, but....
is there a texture pack installer that wirks with this?
I don't and refuse to buy winRAR :biggrin.gif:
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
GENERATION 22: The first time you see this, copy it into your sig on any forum and add 1 to the generation
with Bettergrass working, changing the sides of the grass to dirt only (maybe a pixel of two of grass to identify surface grass in a tunnel if you actually use it that way) is a good compromise. I do so love the taiga grass colour :smile.gif:
Yeah, but that only helps if you actually have bettergrass
I don't want to change the texture based on a mod that not everyone has
Maybe you can release a small version for the ones who have better grass.
This is the most awesome pack but the only thing that bothers me is the grass

You don't have to buy winRAR in fact it comes with most new Windows. You can use 7zip too

The trial versions of WinRAR are free, and the only difference is a message comes up each time you start it
All it says is "Please purchase a WinRAR liscense," but if you close the message it works perfectly
Perhaps you should add to the instructions that instead of manually replacing files inside minecraft.jar, you can make the HD patcher do it for you, by making a .zip or .rar or similar containing the files in the texture pack, then opening the patcher, and clicking "Browse" to the right of "Texture Pack" in the patcher, and opening the zip or rar. This way, it does it all at once, and auto-detects the size of 32x32 for the texture pack. I reckon it's simpler.
All I get after CAREFULLY following every step in the instructions all I get is a black screen after login in (after applying the patch)
Im on windows xp...help!!!
Ok so after trying for the 10th time I get this message on the log from the patcher after I patch it and click on "run minecraft"
[java, -cp, C:\Documents and Settings\Guemes\Datos de programa\.minecraft\bin/minecraft.jar;C:\Documents and Settings\Guemes\Datos de programa\.minecraft\bin/lwjgl.jar;C:\Documents and Settings\Guemes\Datos de programa\.minecraft\bin/lwjgl_util.jar;C:\Documents and Settings\Guemes\Datos de programa\.minecraft\bin/jinput.jar, -Djava.library.path=C:\Documents and Settings\Guemes\Datos de programa\.minecraft\bin/natives, -Xmx1024M, -Xms512M, net.minecraft.client.Minecraft]

If I uninstall minecraft and reinstall it...it works again..bur everytime I try using this patch all I get is a black screen after login in... help please T_T
Edit: I fixed this by asking a friend to send me her .minecraft folder xD
Anyways, dont know whats causing the error on my side :S Also, if I try to run the game from the exe from the official website it repatchs itself back to its original mode...so I have to run it via the patcher's "Run Minecraft" option.
I was having a hard time installing this in Snow Leopard, getting a crash not at startup but when I loaded a save file. I figured out the problem, if anyone else is having trouble:
Rename minecraft.jar to minecraft.zip
Extract minecraft.zip
Before copying over the folders and .png files from the texture pack, open up the 'misc' folder. The texture pack is missing a couple .pngs, copy them over to the texture pack's 'misc' folder
Overwrite the original textures as normal
Select all, command+click > compress
Rename archive.zip to minecraft.jar, overwrite original with it
Run texture patcher
I'm 95% sure 'misc' is the right folder, I don't have it in front of me to check. It's the folder with the biome grass color chart.
If anyone's having trouble with Minecraft auto-updating and erasing the texture pack, that's because the patcher somehow changes the version number, and may remove some parts of the latest updates, so the Minecraft.exe updates itself and removes the patch in the process. Dunno why...
I'm going to be completely honest, Christmas Edition is not coming out as well as I hoped...
Replacing reeds with snowballs to make snowmen has a few problems, first of all the snowmen "grow" out of the ground and can only grow near water which makes no sense, and second of all I had to come up with new textures for paper, books, and bookshelves... (snowballs become ice cubes which become ice storage containers)
The lights on the trees are also a pain in the ass, because I can't make them light up and because I cant make them small enough without looking like just dots of color. Right now the trees basicallly just looked like they are covered in big colored blobs that don't even produce any light.
Replacing the grass with snowy grass makes it so that there are basically no more snow biomes, since the entire map is snow, except some parts only LOOK snowy and some parts actually ARE snowy, which causes a lot of confusion and just ruins the whole point of having the entire map be snowy.
The presents look great as flowers, but they also don't make any sense. Why would there be random presents just sitting around on the ground in clumps? And more importantly, where did all the flowers go?
Having candy cane handles sounded like a nice idea at the time, but it just looks boring now. Instead of the interesting looking wooden and metal handles, there are now just plain stripes of red and white...
If you have any suggestions, please share them, because I don't want to have to cancel this edition

I will work on getting some better custom water and lava textures that tile a bit better, but no promises

Yes you do, it is inside the "minecraft.jar" archive in the "bin" folder
