New glowstone (#3) looks like garbage. It doesn't fit at all with the other blocks in the Nether, or even by itself. You say you want it to look natural? That's the exact opposite effect I feel when I see all of those lines on the block. Even your sponge skin would pass as a better glowstone block than this new one.
Keep the first skin (#1) or the other similar one (#2). If you don't like the color, change it. Make it an off-white, or amber, or something. I'm not a fan of yellow myself (a color I think should be banned from the rainbow), but your method of addressing it here is no solution.
I want to start off saying how much I love your texture pack and this is the only one I can use, the others just change the feel of the game. But as for the glowstone, personally, I'm not a big fan of any of them and I prefer glowstone textures that look kinda like a lantern although that wouldn't look natural in the nether (a lantern texture in the alternatives would be awesome). But I guess the third texture would look best just maybe if it didn't stand out as much. But thanks for the great texture pack! :biggrin.gif:

In Minecraft (and life) there are no final drafts, you never truly finish a project. Everything can always be improved upon. Remember this, and build amazing things. Minecraft server: http://www.vbgames.net
I kinda like the second one. Your number 3 can't really fit in anywhere. The original one looked good in it's nether groups, but kinda meh elsewhere. Number 2 looks like it'd probably look good in the nether groups, but I can't really imagine what it'd look like in artificial settings. Still It'd likely look better in homes and what not than the original.
please change the cobble and the mossy cobble texture , to have one like the default pack , and if you can change the grass and the dirt texture because it's ugly , Thank's :smile.gif:
I didn't expect the opinions to be this mixed about which glowstone to choose... What about a compromise between the first and second ones? It will still have the stones, and the background will be lighter than the first one but darker than the second one. I think the real problem with those is that the first one looks too dark to be glowstone and the second one looks too much like gold.

Started playing around with the third glowstone and I've changed my opinion. It just REALLY doesn't work. =/
The compromise sounds good but I really don't like glowstone 2. It looks like honeycomb!
Maybe try another design, but a bit more lanterny this time...

If I helped you, why not click the little green button in the bottom right of my post?
What if I edit the alternate glowstone texture so it tiles a bit better? Could we use that?
It could work... Looks like it needs a bit more darkness as well. Give it a go! The worst people are going to say is no. :wink.gif:
How are any of the other textures coming along? Started work on the enchantment tables or brewing stands yet?

I've been really busy lately, but I've worked on them a bit. Should have another update this weekend.
I never actually tried out the alternate glowstone texture. The coloring on it looks nice, not too sure about the actual shapes though. Lemme check it in game before I make any judgements though.
Edit: Yeah it needs a bit of work on the tiling like you said, but I kinda like it. The shape of the chunks may need to be changed a bit though. Still the coloring is really nice on it.
Also, I hate to ask this when you're already so busy with update after update, but could you possibly change the signs a bit or add an alternate texture for them? At the moment they look kinda off when used to make make shift chairs. The coloring is off and they seem a bit too... grainy? It's not really that important so it can wait until you're less busy if you decide to do it.
How does this look? I think we might actually be able to pull it off.
That looks brilliant! I think you're right. You've found the solution. Put it up for a vote and see what the people think! :smile.gif:
P.S. Damn you Kool! I really didn't want to make another post! =P

Think about it this way... that's one step closer to becoming a mining god like me!
So does it look somewhat natural in the nether? Or if not, is it at least good looking?
I do like the latest glowstone best. Buuut.. I wish you could make it more like a lantern, because that's what it'll mostly be used for. I want it to look nice on a post by itself, but also good together.
I know it's tricky because people will have differing opinions.
The pack is amazing though, I use it all the time. Keep doing what you need to do, it's great.

I personally don't think that it looks toooooo unnatural in the nether. It's not like a perfect rock, but considering it's a hellish world and that nothing there is particularly natural, it's not too bad!
Also, it looks pretty good as a light source for houses etc.
Anyone else see how the wavy lines make it look all distorted in the latest screenshot?
It looks curvy... and slightly strange... fits the nether, almost. A little rougher so it looks a bit more like a stone-type block (because properly it is), and it'll be pretty picture-perfect.

Just a reminder since this is a new page:
Glowstone 1
Glowstone 2
Glowstone 3
Anything that isn't like the pattern on the third one would be a good decision.

New Glowstone 4
Keep in mind this image shows four blocks tiled together.

Also, looks very warped... like swirly and not blocky xD
