Yeah this project was put on pause do to the stunning lack of minecraft content updates for the past 3ish months.
Me and most of my minecraft buddies have all gotten bored with the game due to over-playing it, and I know eventually I will want to get back into it and work on a huge project again. When that happens this texture pack will be completed. I know that's not what everyone wants to hear, but I did not abandon this texture pack, just simply put it on hold while I am busy with other things and interests. I can assure you all this pack will be released and ask everyone to be patient. All the work I have put into that pack took me maybe 4 days of actually working on it consistently, and when I get back into it I will crank out the rest of the incomplete tiles. I don't want to work on it when I'm not entirely passionate about it because I feel that will make my work and artistic vision suffer, and i'll only be working on it to get it done, rather than to make something truly impressive.
To put a realistic date on this packs completion is hard, though I can confidently say it will be out this year. (lol) That is for sure, and I can see myself getting back into minecraft within a months time. I have sorta been missing it. I think whenever player health is server side, as I have always wanted PvP extremely bad, I will make a return. In fact I can pretty much guarantee I will make a return if that happens.
Finally, I appreciate all the support and comments from everyone, as without it I don't think any of this would have been possible. I feel bad I haven't been able to get this pack out sooner, so here are some random pics from servers I joined today so you guys would have something to look at.
Lamps, lamps everywhere.
Pictured in the photo below is a rough version of wheat and cloth. The cloth design is messy ATM and needs simplifying and cleaning up, but is the general idea of how I want it to look, so that it can be used for design purposes, such as beds, carpets, trim, etc. I tried to put too much detail in to too little resolution, but basically im going to a fancy patterned design.
Pictured below is the general look the steel doors will have, though I will probably add a some extra shading before I finalized them.
That's it for quick pics, if anyone has any requests for photos of their work simply let me know which server its on and where, maybe PM me a photo so I know what to look for. I'd love to see people's creations, and show them how it will look with this pack.
So, which will come out first? Your texture pack, Black Mesa Source or Duke Nukem Forever? :biggrin.gif::D
I lold.
But to answer your not-so-serious question, Black mesa seems pretty much abandoned, I think douk still has a long way to go so it is safe to say my texture pack.
I reckon you should lock this thread then if you are not sure when the pack is gonna be released, people have been waiting weeks for this ( myself ) only to be dissapointed by the lack of updates. Just lock it and let people forget about it until you do release ( if ever ) and we will be in for a big surprise :smile.gif: when it does get released.....dont be a ***** tease :tongue.gif: ( or you could, you know release a work in progress and stop throwing new picks up of what we are missing )
Agreed... Lock it... or release it.... 3 weeks with no login, yet 3 pages of people begging for it? One or the other... or just disappear for another 3 weeks.... either one....
Just do a WIP so people can with it until you start working on it again. This way you can get more opinions on things that people might or might not want changed. Almost all good texture packs do this, otherwise you will never release it because it will never look perfect to you.

Like I said before, I will certainly never be 100% happy with the pack, that's why after I get everything into a standardized, well polished state it will be released, but there will always be version updates similar to how doku goes about it. I am already satisfied with many of the blocks and would be happy to have them released as-is, with potential to be updated or changed later. There is a lot of blocks not shown which are nothing more than place holders or a blurry mess. Releasing a 60-70% finished W.I.P. opens the door to many people finishing the texture pack themselves, which would mean the texture pack, carrying my name, will have works in it not done by me. That has the potential to tarnish my good name and hard work if sub-standard blocks or blocks that I feel don't fit or work with my pack are added by others and people assume them to be done by me. So for these reasons I am 100% against releasing this unfinished.
That said I can understand people's frustrations from lack of updates, and if you think I should only be allowed to update this thread when my pack is done rather than have direct and up-to-date access to progress and update reports as soon as they are created, well first I'd call you silly, but then I'd say that would be up to a moderator to choose if he should allow this work-in-progress showing to continue, or disallow me to preview updates of my project as I see fit.
As always, this will be the first and only place I will show and explain my project updates, regardless of interval lengths, to the minecraft community. I again thank everyone who has followed my progress and lent their support, and due to the distress my extended time away has caused, will try and keep more regular updates, even if they are content lacking. I know this is probably the second most popular texture pack project next to the famous doku pack, and will do my best to meet everyone's expectations both chronological and quality wise.

Glad to hear you are still around and working on it! First post on these forums, just to say I've been looking forward to this pack for a while, it really has some lovely details in it =)
Don't have the first clue why people would be asking for the thread to be closed, how often you update, and when you release this has nothing to do with anyone but yourself. Having a thread with a "WIP" isn't a bad thing at all IMO, gives us a nice little tease every now and then :wink.gif: Will look forward to more updates from you =)
will you have animated water ?
Im using a similar medevial-theme now, but there is no animation on the water on this one.
The texture pack uses x32 resolution, and any resolution above Minecraft's standard x16 will cause animations to not generate properly. It is something Notch is aware of and plans on eventually fixing. Until then, you will have to accept the still water, or use a standard resolution pack.

Clearly optimism isn't in your dictionary.

Hello, your highness! Is the server still up? Last time I tried to connect it was down.
Wow the mapping and modding section of this forum has blown up! Never seen it move so fast.
Just wanted to put out the word that I will resume work on my pack. The fine lad who has fixed the 32x32 glitch has inspired me to continue.
Look for updates to this pack this weekend.

brick makes a fantastic accentuation trim!
note: redtorch is a left over texture from another texture pack, not my work.
bookcase, probably gonna make top row books thicker.
flowing water and bricks, better than ever!
edit: resized, added pics.

May we have a "Beta" Release of what you have so far?
Can't wait
