After constantly tearing user made texture packs apart and nit picking every tile I was still never completely happy with the overall look and feel of the texture packs I cobbled together. There was always something to fix or touch up, and after putting a lot of work on top of others peoples textures, I didn't quite have anything I could show to the community besides some Frankenstein I made. And so I decided I should create my own. Doing so I could have Minecraft look exactly how I think it should, sometimes even impressing myself. Welcome to my constant tweaking and nitpicking in texture pack form.
cleaner grass which changes color depending on biome.
a simple 32x resolution hell, will be cleaned up more for next release, but looks good for now.
Work Status and Version Changes
V0.8.5 is uploaded, changes are as follows.
Basic hell compatibility. New grass look, and some quick hell textures I threw together so you guys wouldn't have to suffer 16x16 too long Will come out with more refined textures soon!
Current version is 0.8.5, so expect some hefty updates and cleaning before its official version 1.0
Still a lot im not happy with!
*If you haven't done so yet, please download the HD texture fix here: http://www.minecraft...hp?f=25&t=46173
or else, you will find fire/animation glitches with the texture pack installed. I recommend using "better grass mod" when installing this patch. You can also use this patcher to install my pack at the same time to make it that much easier!*
Damn you guys for not releasing early packs just so people can test them out.....you can always update your thread as you progress....
Some of the blocks have pretty much solid colors and place-holders. I'll have a pack out as soon as I have everything decent, then probably continue to release new tweaks/versions/options (such as yellow/red flowers, alternative textures, etc)
Heres how I have the small chest atm. Still needs detail work and finalizing the color/contrast.
I would say the only thing I don't like is how the Half Steps texture looks like the cobble stone.
That's been one of my biggest gripes with it, I've been tinkering with different hues and it's brightness to make sure it has enough contrast next to cobble. It's been buggin' me the whole time, probably gonna try out a new design or two.
Do want, so bad! :smile.gif: Looking great man, love your design
Thanks, the more I hear this the faster I work :tongue.gif:
and WOW I shoulda changed the halfstone sooner, what a difference! Also added more contrast to cobble, refined the chests, have a furnace prototype, redstone lines done, and some other tweaks.
I just created an account to say this, please release this pack as soon as possible! I've been looking for a new one and this looks like one of the best I've seen so far.
Should be this week, I've literally been working on it all day! ;p
Glad you like it. Here's one more picture for today, this time showing the placeholder GUI...needs to be re-done. (lol it only has 8 slots instead of 9)
I would say the next thing that has to be addressed is the cobble stone, I wouldnt of noticed this if I didn't see that corner of those buildings but the cobble stone line in every other block is to close to the edge of the texture just making it a bad transistion. Do you see what I mean?
Its only something that you can see at the edge of a block. Maybe move the whole texture 5-8 pixels over?
EDIT: On second though that won't fix it...I just realized the design uses smaller bricks so the line would probly still be there just on the next level. Oh well its a small thing to complain about.
I would say the next thing that has to be addressed is the cobble stone.
The cobble had serious tiling issues which ive neglected for a while and earlier today I fixed it a bit, never got a chance to smooth it over more and adding contrast didn't help the case. It will be further refined, as will most every block.
