Ok, I did a quick update and added a few more mods as well. I'm sorry I haven't been removing the non working/ dead texture packs and mods, but I've been kind of busy (well actually just lazy)
I have break this next week so I'll do it then. I'm also gonna start paying more attention to the mod section as I feel like this list could really be a lot more helpful to most people than the One Stop Mod Shop. While the OSMS is a great index page, it doesn't do a good job showcasing mods for new people or people who are just looking for a new and interesting mod, so having the popular mods is a bit more helpful than just listing all the them. I don't know how I haven't thought of this before, but I'm going to start putting screenshots next to each mod so that you can actually see what you're looking for (cause I doubt that people actually go around and read the description haha)

You can change your textures by extracting the terrain.png from the minecraft.jar, using a program such as WinRar, and then editing the terrain with a program such as GIMP or Paint.net, or anything that supports transparency.
Thats pretty basic editing of the terrain. You can edit mobs and other things and such as well.

Well most of the pack, as you said so yourself, is not your own work, but rather the work of several other artists, simply meaning that it's not your pack. I understand you might have made changes to some textures or even made your own and put some effort into putting this together, but that doesn't mean it's your pack, and it wouldn't make much sense to start adding every single slightly edited pack or compiled versions to the list.

I'm having trouble with anything that has a black background. the black shows up in the game around my torches and flowers and its getting really anoying. how do i fix this???
