Invictus is a high definition 64x graphics replacement for Minecraft with an emphasis on clean artwork and minimal detail. The artwork is a continuation of Soartex, a texture pack by Soar49. Invictus refines many of the elements of Soartex and adds thousands of textures.
About
The Invictus continuation is by Shoeboxam and Goldbattle. I'll start with me, Shoeboxam. I maintained and updated Soartex with the great help of the Fanver community over the past two years. In August I organized my repertoire of work and began texturing the missing gaps with GoldBattle to create Invictus. I recently resigned from my position in Fanver in order to pursue this project in earnest. I tend to make textures, look back at them a week later and decide to remake them. If there is a texture you don't like, feel free to give a comment. I have look through rose colored shades at my new work.
Goldbattle has been a web developer for the past two years and has played a big role in building up the Soartex mod support. He always gives himself a hard time about his textures, but we all know better. He created a "Mod Patcher," a lightweight Java program that downloads and installs texture patches for mods. Gold also created a customizer, got me comfortable with Github and even built our website from scratch. He's made scripts, programs, launchers, and more. I continually learn new things from him, he's just fantastic.
Yes, to download the pack a (free) membership is required. Me and GoldBattle are feeling experimental here in the alpha; I hope you don't mind. He's created an amazing blog system and change tracker, and both of us will be using those tools to disseminate information about our work. I'm also watching this thread!
I tried to prevent aliasing and block patterning with CTM and design choices. The copious amounts of CTM used in this pack really make MCPatcher or Optifine worth it. There's substantial CTM on the grass top, stone, mycelium, end stone, netherrack, soul sand, gravel, hardened clay and sandstone. CTM is spread out through quite a quite a few of the other blocks, I try to make it as I work.
Grass is very experimental. I've always been bothered with how Minecraft applies colors to foliage and grass, so I tried counteracting it with modified base textures to sap saturation in places and increase color depth. Please let me know what you think of the grass... it's proven to be a somewhat tedious balancing act.
The blocks are nearly completely textured, but I'm not happy with everything. Some of the flowers, such as the poppy and tulips, for example, need new textures. I'm split between texturing more items and mobs or continuing on blocks. I'm leaning towards items. The pack is definitely still an alpha version, but I have high hopes.
