This texture pack was originally spawned when I was curious as to what the game would look like if only solid colors were used for each block. Obviously that didn't work out too well, but it did produce interesting results, and the result eventually morphed into Softcraft. Softcraft was designed with a single thing in mind: Simplification. The textures are as simple as possible while still being both identifiable and not losing their original purpose or feel. And yes, I realize it may be hard to differentiate between the block at first, but given a bit of time you shouldn't have any problem identifying a certain block. Keep in mind, I'm no artist (in fact I'm quite the butcher when it comes to even drawing a straight line), so this pack isn't meant to be artsy in any way, simply pleasing to whoever enjoys the effect.
Note: I'm aware and have seen many 1x packs being posted recently, I don't claim to be the original but this pack is far from a 1x pack anyway and is much older than most of the recent incarnations of the 1x (or 1/16x) fad, feel free to check the timestamp of the original post referenced at the bottom of this post.
Important: It is greatly suggested that you have "Smooth Lighting" set to "ON" in your video settings (BetterLight), without it this texture pack will turn into maze due to the blending of one layer to the next. Plus, it really doesn't look nearly as good.
Installation:
First, Download Softcraft from the link above. Second, you'll need to place it in the Texture Packs folder, this can be achieved by opening up Minecraft, clicking on "Mods and Texture Packs" (found in the main menu), and clicking on the left button "Open texture pack folder" , then simply place Softcraft.zip in the folder. No need for an HD patch or anything of the likes, since this is only a 16x16. Although if you DO, in fact, use MCpatcher, you'll be able to use the custom water (nothing spectacular, but I prefer it to the default).
Changelog:
1.0.1 - 2/26/11 - Various revisions
1.0.2 - 2/27/11 - Mobs/Items Added
2.0.0 - 1/06/12 - Major Update to 1.0.0, major revamp

Important: This probably appears to be stolen/a repost of this post. In a way, it is. That's my old account, it didn't match my Minecraft username and I stopped using it long ago. I believe that reposting this makes sense because that pack was for something like beta patch 1.4 (loooong time ago). I've added a note to the original post to indicate that I am in fact the same user.
