Hey there everyone, just finished working on the beta for SimCraft. This will allow you to load the SRAM (.srm save file) for your SNES SimCity (U) game, save the whole map as an image, and convert the map to a Minecraft schematic.
The actual cities you build in SimCity are 120x100 blocks, each drawn at 8px square. SimCraft converts your SimCity map at 1:1 into a 960*800*32 high schematic (rather than a world, in case you want to place more than one of your cities together). Thus far, the only limitation is that it converts just the first of the two save files in your srm, and it can't be a "Practice" city.
Keep in mind this is the beta, and first time the public has seen this, so please keep criticisms clean! This is for Windows. Any questions, issues, or comments, this is the thread.
@Taiine: Lol I really thought of doing that, but when a regular 1989 SimCity map is 960*800, a SimCity 2000 map would be enormous—let alone a SimCity 4 map. I have an issue with the appearance of SC2K worlds being drawn with triangular polygons as well, that being that angular triangles convert probably worse than anything to a matrix of cubic blocks. In other words, it could be done, but the result would be just silly in size and rather ugly. An additional point about SC4 is that some of those buildings are definitely taller than 800ft., and that's about the ceiling when it comes to Minecraft.
Regardless of all that, I will admit I'm still thinking about it though :)...
