when i put speed on boots for my bukkit server then get the item via command block, i dont get speed, whenever i try to put any potion effects on armor it doesnt work, can someone please help? this is my first time getting the tool.
you can do it using essential commands if you are running bukkit but idk how to do it with vanilla, i hope this will still help you get an idea, this is the essential website, when you get there you'll see like a table of content click on name and it'll give you a command that'll work in essentials (btw its a bukkit plugin :P) i hope what you see will work! http://wiki.ess3.net/wiki/Item_Meta#Name

Any chance you can get it sorted so Norton doesn't say this is a threat and delete it?
Exactly my problem. Norton is nice and all, but it has its moments like this.

I don't know too much about Norton... but I'm pretty sure that any anti-virus would let you decide wetter the file is safe or not and let you use it at your own risks. Isn't Norton firstly blocking it to warn you, and then you can manually force it to ignore it?
Any chances of quickly adding Hide Flags option? I really need it and there are plenty of other generators which already have the ability to do so, yet I think this is exactly what MCCG needs
I was thinking about doing this very next. Though something peaks my interest, if there are plenty other tools that have it, why do you bother with my version?
Is there a Mac version for this? If there isn't please make one as I'd really like to get this generator but as i use Mac, not Windows, I can't.
Unfortunately, I'm not planning on doing so. Keeping the Windows version updated is already a lot of work. There are a few things you can do in order to be able to use .exe on Windows: Here's a link.
How to put it straight - if I choose a mod or a tool at the very beggining of it, and the author is not some cocky ******* but he actually cares about what people say, then I can have influence over what he will do with his mod/tool. Basically I am a map maker with a lot of big projects and collaborations started, so I've chosen your tool which is still in development phase so I can suggest you what to change, add and remove - this way I can create an excellent Generator and you can have quite accurate advices.
Also, other tools lack some other important stuff, for example http://mcstacker.bimbimma.com/ is all perfect but the visual side of it is just crappy and terrible - I can't work on it even if I try my hardest.
Yeah, I've seen a few other tools and versions. No where I saw someone put so much effort in the GUI, They'd just stack text boxes on top of text boxes and labels. Sure it's the right way to go if you want to implement more features, but it's gonna be useless if people can't understand.
Designing is taking a lot of my time, but I think that's what's making me stand apart from the rest even though it has less features. And anyway I'm not here to compete with anyone... I just do it because I enjoy it. Sure it's always fun to see people using the things you make.
Speaking of which, I haven't got much feedback on the GUI upgrade. I think it was a fairly big leap. Was it worth it though?
- The Main Menu page being design like a book was originally supposed to be having a command button on each pages (with it's own buttons like the guide and maybe import/export). Though, after having less time and the work getting more tedious, this kinda got postponed. But yeah, the idea is there and whenever I'll get on another command, I'll surely use it. It is the reason I rename this tool to "Minecraft Command Generator".
- I will be working on the HideFlags, CanPlace, CanBreak parameters in the next days/weeks. I was unsure of how I should make the UI for these until I had a good idea earlier while taking a shower.
- I am unsure of what exactly you are seeking with the Formatting Codes, nor do I exactly understand what its purpose is, other than formatting the text itself. Could you give an example of what you would like to do in the tool, how you would achieve it and what the outcome would be? Same thing goes for the text editor, I get the concept but...
I will gladly cooperate with anyone who gives good feedback and brings great ideas. Feel free to share any thoughts.
You're asking for stuff I never thought about... which is not necessary a bad thing but... This kinda change a bit of stuff.
Anyway, as for the text editing within the description, that one mustn't be too hard to make. The text editor wouldn't be hard to make either if it's a kind of stand alone thing... meaning you just open the window, edit your text, copy it and paste it somewhere (probably lore?).
Now the hover thing is something... basically the item description on the right is a near replica of the in-game one. The only things that won't show are the stuff in the - Other Parameters - category. But I do get the concept of the kind of preview that would give. It's not impossible, but it's some more tedious work that I won't put on top of my priority list yet.
And lastly, sure you can PM me whenever, I always check the thread once a day. Although I don't dislike the fact that we're currently keeping the thread alive and up top.
Don't expect this coming too soon. I don't wanna get your hopes too high. I work everyday and I don't necessary feel like programming some more coming home because that's also what I do at work. And I even program it at work from time to time when I have nothing going on.
If not, it should...
this is where i got the idea for potion effects when using/holding the item and also just the /give command in general: http://www.minesecure.net/threads/minecraft-command-blocks-datatags.57/
Hope it helps!
this is another website i used for the potion effects on weapons, blocks, etc.: http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Attribute
I think that should be added to the Todo list... ☻
Sincerely,
