I don't know how to allocate more memory to Java but I'm sure a google search can clear that up. I think it has something to do with a batch file that has an option like -x1024 or something. I think Java 7 should be fine. I have only tested it on one computer with 7 though. As for the creative/survival, you can edit the level.dat file in NBTExplorer and change GameMode to 0. Or you can use the SinglePlayer Commands mod and change it ingame.
Golgrinn, good idea. Did you mean add redstone traps during generation or put it in chests to allow players to make traps? Right now there are a few traps in the loot chests, one is a shaft which detonates TNT when you go down it to get the loot and the other is a loot dispenser which can potentially spawn mobs as well as the best loot.
DoubleGale, none taken. I understand there are others with this 374x374 limit and I'm sure it's no coincidence. I'll look into it but I'm just starting Java and have no idea of the inner workings of all the memory and threads and whatnot.
Edit: I updated to Java7 and I'm getting stuck on 374 too. This will be my first priority, if anyone knows anything about how the way memory works in Java, I'd appreciate any info/links.
Ok, so I don't know if this will help, but I updated to Java 7 and ran the HGMG.jar using the RUN.bat which I modified to have:
javaw.exe -Xms2048m -jar HGMG.jar
in it. So basically you use the -Xms____m to set the memory allocated by Java. 1024m is 1GB, 2048 is 2GB and so on. Set it to something reasonable for your machine, for example I can go to 6GB on my 8GB machine (64-bit). Keep in mind there is a 4GB? max on 32-bit machines.
Uploaded a new version 0.82 to sourceforge which prints out the memory allocated by the thread. If you still have any problems, let me know what OS, how many bits (32/64) and what setting you used (i.e. -Xms1024m or -Xms2048m, etc) as well as what the program prints out in terms of memory.
ah that would be great. It's not too elegant with the whole sign thing but it'll do for now. I'll have to do this for tomorrow's games.
However, a problem that came up yesterday was that if I play, I don't have as much lag and it makes killing people easier.
FUNxLOL: make sure if you move files you move everything in the "Hunger Games Map Generator" folder and make sure you extracted everything from the .zip file.
Version 0.85 is out!
and a new wiki is set up on sourceforge. There should be more info and it should be all more organized now.
Changes:
- Added some new traps
- Added farms
- Added library (currently has no use, wait for Version 0.9 and it will have a purpose)
- Modified the spawn area to be compatible with Survival Games plugin
- Added automatic generation of Survival Games plugin config files
Hey guys, just uploading a teaser of Version 0.9! Join a game on Saturday (info here) to check out the new features! I'll upload 0.9 once Minecraft is updated to include books or I'll just upload 0.89 if that takes too long.
when i change the memory allocated to the program, then i save it. Then i run it and it still says 247mb out of 247mb allocated to the heap, and im guessing it means the java heap which by default has 1Gb. And i think mine has 3Gb of ram. My pc has 8Gb of ram so it should be able to run it with a world atleast 1000x1000. Also when i run the run.bat the console window just pops up for a second, then disappears. with no program to open. Any help? If i could get it to work, great program though!
hgnhfseae: I'm not sure, it should but I don't have a mac to test it on
dooozy, try opening a command prompt (run -> cmd) and going into the hunger games map generator folder (commands are cd and dir) and then type "javaw.exe -Xms2048m -jar HGMG.jar". It should then either open the program or give you an error. If it opens the program you should be able to run it and see the heap size be somewhere around 2 gig. Let me know how it goes.
Dooozy, do you have the most recent version of JRE (Java) installed? You could try changing "javaw.exe" to the full path (something like "C:\Program Files\Java\jre7\bin\javaw.exe"). Otherwise, I don't know any other way to call the program with the memory allocation options.

Because I, like many others, cannot generate very much. And allocating memory to java makes no difference whatsoever. I get 374 as a max, no more.

But its just this one thing i would love if you did. I got an idea on how to let the host play the game as well, using the plugin rsc http://forums.bukkit.org/threads/mech-misc-redstonecommand-v2-6-7-turn-on-redstone-simply-by-typing-in-a-command-1-1-r4-1-2-5.19174/ to make the host able to start the game by a command.
like make a sign with the text [RSC], start, 100. or so.
Otherwise thank you very much for this. Diamonds for you

I don't see the config file for Survival Games or the configs folder. Am I blind or is this coming in the next version?
