Update: April 26th, 2012 - fixed nether map placement and Mac compatiblity. I haven't tried it myself, but I've had other users confirm that you can make this run on a Mac now using Mono for OSX (http://www.mono-project.com/Mono:OSX)
Since many people have asked for it, here's an updated version of my Planetoids map generator, compatible with the latest (1.2.5):
For people who aren't familiar with it, this generator makes a map that's compoed of hundreds of little planets:
To use this generator:
1. Download the .exe file and run it
2. Enter a name to use for the world file
3. Wait unti it says "Map generation complete."
4. Find the folder in the same directory as the .exe with the same name you gave to the world, and move it to your levels folder (%appdata%\Roaming\.minecraft\saves) if you're running single player on Windows.
5. Run Minecraft and select the world
6. Play
Updates for V2 include:
* Compatible with Minecraft V 1.2.5
* Uses the full map height (256) - Now twice as much space for planets!
* No more ugly outer wall - the map is surrounded by a moat of open air too wide to see across.
* Now the nether has planets too! If you travel to the nether in a Planetoids map, it's made up of a different set of nether-specific planetoids.
For this initial V2 release I've turned off some of the options for varying map density. I'll add them back in later if people really want them.
Here's a couple of map images (normal and nether) of a 16x16 chunk map, for reference:

Nether Map:
(Map images generated using MCMap)
Also, for anyone who still wants it, I'm leaving the original generator available for download from the links in the original topic here: http://www.minecraft...ds-v175-now-up/
(note, I don't think that one works with the current build of Minecraft at all)
Every time you fall and die you spawn on nothing and fall
Some people don't happen to have Windows hater. It isn't a sin to have a mac, and you can't open certain .exes in OSX.
Are you calling me a hater or is Windows hater a version I haven't heard of before? Being surprised that Windows has lost so much market share that people don't know what an exe is isn't hating, it's just being surprised.
Man this is just awesome, would be perfect with some airplane mod, then I would be Obi-Craft-Kenobi xP. The only bug I found was the spawn point changing. For people that don't know, some mods that I found compatible:
Smart Moving
Mo' Mobs and Ores (just Mobs working)
Tree Capitator (DANGER: THE "TREE" BASED PLANET HAVE THE WOOD PART REMOVED THEN IT COLLAPSES)
Parachute Mod
Rei's Minimap (Too damn useful!!!)
(ModLoader, Player API, MCPatcher, Gametype Changer and other stuff also work)
Sorry if my english is wrong, I'm brazilian and don't speak english very well...
Thanks! I love this generator, I started using it during 1.5 beta or so, and I've had a great time, right now I'm generating a 64 chunk map for my server so I can play with my friends. THIS IS GONNA BE AWESOME! *Cough*(Although I'm gonna spawn us in some sugar cane, melon and pumpkins seeds)*Cough*
Could you release a tutorial on how to make a program like this? i have a custom map simular to this thats basicly a load of schematics i made pasted randomly in a void map, although it does work, it's time consuming to paste all the scematics everywhere and evenly, and would appreciate a generator that places the schematics randomly in a void map, would produse much better results.
When I try to download the .exe file it says that it is not commonly downloaded and could harm my computer..... Help please
It's just Microsoft being OTT when it comes to security. In there opinion .exe files == evil, computer destroying programs so they make it as hard to download as possible. Just click 'ignore' or 'download anyway' or similar on any prompt that comes up.
YES! I'm so happy this is back! ^o^~ But the Nether Planetoids are amazing though! I do have a couple of thoughts, things, suggestions, etc: (I apologize if some of these have been mentioned before)
-Spawn point doesn't work properly. After the player dies, they respawn somewhere else on the map and that becomes their true spawn point. I've tested this with several worlds.
-Shouldn't the mushroom spheres appear in the overworld? I don't think mooshrooms can spawn on them...
-This is probably just my OCD kicking in, but shouldn't lapis lazuli spawn as an ore on the overworld? o.o
-Is it possible to...
*spawn pumpkins/melons on grass spheres? or just make melon and pumpkin spheres?
*create a water block on some dirt spheres for sugar cane to grow?
*make it so that vines grow on jungle wood spheres?
*make hollow spheres made with mossy cobblestone with a monster spawner inside along with a chest or two inside with loot?
*have one sphere per map made with all kinds of stone bricks, containing a portal to The End? (Also, The End should be made of planetoids too!)
*have Nether Brick planetoids? I don't think I saw any...
*spawn Nether Wart on Sould Sand spheres?
some suggestions:
Planetoids for the End
villages and dungeons
Perhaps lapis in the overworld
also (this has bugged me for a bit) glowstone in the nether

Totally agree with you
But, I am the only one who want the Option back?, like the size of and space between planetoid?

It is REALLY annoying for everybody.
This version of Planetoids for some reason takes me about half an hour to generate and the older version only took 1-5 minutes depending on the options I chose. I think it has something to do with the other options that were removedWell half an hour is somewhat of an exaggeration. It's like 15-20 minutes but that's still quite a bit of time.

Thank You so much Seibai. I love your planetoids map it is amazing. Ok I did what it told me to do but the very first step is what gets me, can you explain what it wants me to type? I put the name of a new world in not a address if thats what it wants. Help please someone?

Give the world a name, just like you do when starting a new world in game.
You are missing the named library (libMono...) which I'm guessing is a part of Mono.

I made another world that took half an hour to build hehe, great fun. although it was a couple months back now so I can't remember the sizes.

Thanks
it needs an update so it is new and won't say not commenly downloaded probaly just minor update
edit:i see that pepole saying customization options are gone the update can be BRING THEM BACK
plz don't discriminate about my spelling i know it sucks but i try my best
Yes you are. No-one in the past 4 pages has mentioned it.
No it don't.
Why would updating it, and hence making it new and therefore less downloaded, stop it from being marked as a 'not commenly downloaded' file?
