Thanks a bunch for these tools kamyu. These help so much.
Can I make a request for a tool ? I think this'll help a LOT of mapmakers
It's a Sign Editor.
What it does is search the map for every signs there are & then opens all of them in a basic text editor interface where you can select a sign & edit what is written on it (all without opening the map & having to run around the entire place searching for the signs & fixing them one by one)
I'd assume it'd be like this below:
Yes, this picture is made in MS Word
Bonus points if you allow the text editor to write the Section Sign so we can write coloured text as well
Not being a programmer, I haven't the slightest clue as to how hard this can be to make. But if you can make a program to populate chests, I'm pretty sure this can also be made
Okay I just tested out the tool on a brand new Superflat world with just 3 signs. Seems to be working fine on the first go.
Here are my observations:
These are the signs I wrote in-game to test
Opened in the program
Edited in the program
TLDR version: working as intended on first test. Cuts out any extra 16th letters. Works fine with colours.
if I use wide symbols (~) then cuts out the last 3 - just make the window a little bit wider
Text editor writes upto 16 letters. If I try to write more than 16 letters, it replaces the 16th letter with the new letter. But when I backspace it deletes both 16th & 15th letters.
Sign limit removed (I tested up to about 3000 signs. It should be able to handle much, much more.). Signs are now displayed 100 at a time with a dropdown menu to select different pages of signs (100 signs per page).
Text boxes widened to better display wide characters.
