This is a mod installer I created for windows. It uses a bat file and 7-Zip to install the mods. I take no credit for the 7za.exe (7-Zip command line version) that is included in the download. It is there to make the installer run more smoothly, and not require additional installations. 7-Zip is re-distributable as stated in their license.txt.
This mod installer was inspired by Auto-Mod by Scokeev9 and Volgon8
If there are any problems with my installer (NOT the mods installed by it), please post a reply with an IN DEPTH description of what happened. We can't fix a problem if we don't know what it is. Do NOT exit the installer until it is done, otherwise it will not install correctly.
Now you can test out if mods work without editing your .minecraft folder. Simply put minecraft.exe into minecraft test folder, run setup.bat, login to minecraft, exit it, and run install test.bat.
To use it, simply extract the files somewhere, put modloader in the modloader folder put the mods that go into minecraft.jar into the "Direct Mods" folder, and the ones that go into the mods folder into "Indirect Mods", and then run the Chalenged's Mod Installer.bat. Running the config.bat file is suggested, but optional.
It gives the option to backup minecraft.jar and saves as well. The saves get compressed into a .zip file. All backups go to .minecraft\CMI\Backups\(timestamp)
Download: 1.1.2 http://www.mediafire...ixwsp45uyuabpaa (the RD command is giving me problems, so you might have to delete the mods folder manually. Sorry for any inconvenience)
5/5/12; 1.1.1/1.1.2: Fixed bugs causing certain conditions to have installer crash or omit functions.
5/1/2012; 1.1.0: added error test, and minecraft test folder. Video planned within a week or two.
4/28/2012; 1.0.2: Changelog created, added mod folder deletion option to both installer and config.
Not sure what other screenshots i could make for it.
Am planning on making a video soon. If someone else could do that would be great.

A simple way to troubleshoot before you report a bug:
1. update forge/modloader. DO IT.
2. update the mod(s) you think could be causing the problem. (if it's a conflict between two, update both)
3. READ THE INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS! If they are different than normal make sure to follow those accordingly.
4. read the last few pages of the mod's thread for your issue.
5. post on the thread a detailed description. If it's a crash, make sure to include what you were doing and a crash report. If you can't reproduce a crash report, you're fine.
Added a minecraft test folder that allows you to test if an installation would work before you try it, so you don't have to force update minecraft. Also made an error test.bat allowing you to find out why minecraft is crashing very quickly. Don't forget to add comments, suggestions, complaints, etc. to keep this alive. I want your feedback, and am happy to improve the installer.
