It's been there all the time, I haven't moved it, don't even touch the folders except for config files and maps and the like... Hmm.
My shourtcut to the application is both on my desktop and my hotbar, if that helps too.
That does blow my theory out of the water, but I did notice that when I first installed MultiMC it would not work on the desktop so i moved it elsewhere. You could try that. No idea why it would suddenly start complaining now.

I CAN ANSWER THAT ONE (I think)! It means that the program can't access where you've put it, as the folder is locked or whatever. Move it somewhere like a folder on your desktop and it should resolve.
Hope that helps!

The C:\Users directory is a special windows folders and not a good place to install MultiMC since it will not have the rereuired permissions that it needs to run. Try moving it someplace else.
Got a question about MultiMc. Has anyone ever tried using Single Player commands with this? I have been trying to but it seems like whenever i close MultiMC the next time i open it single player commands seems to have been uninstalled. Any ideas? has anybody had the same problem? To be noted i am using the single player commands installer

Ok, I'm stumped. I can only assume it's an error within the program itself. I'll also try redownloading and importing my old stuff. Wish Me Luck!
-Loki (Or as you now know, Alex)
EDIT 1: Redownloaded. Works. Will try importing my folders.
EDIT 2: Moved my FOLDERS into the new folder. ERROR! Let's see why...
EDIT 3: Found a Semicolon in a folder name. Hmm...
EDIT 4: Removed Said Semicolon. ERROR. Let's have a look, Wonder if I delete everything EXCEPT the folders...
EDIT 5: Removed the Semicolon, Comma and ! from the folder names. Still the same error. Maybe if I copy the folders out, make NEW instances in MultiMC, then copy the files over? Hmm...
EDIT 6: This has to be bordering on spam. Sorry! Anyway, was copying over instances, and Modded 1.2.5 1 gave me an error which was .Net framework, But it said 'Illegal characters in path.' so I think it's related. Will try running... Error. Deleted, Error.
Exact .Net error:

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.
For example:
<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>
When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

EDIT 7: Record for most edits? I reckon so! Anyway...
Found out which folders are giving me grief. So will copy the files INSIDE the .minecraft and the InstMods into a NEW folder and pray. Wish me luck (again)!
EDIT 8 AND HOPEFULLY LAST: *Plays 'We are the champions' by Queen* I'm Epic (IMO). Fixed. Hopefully.
Should be working by now. Will keep you informed.

Has anyone else noticed that if you create an instance that contains "Direwolf", that instance has the enderman icon and you can not change it?
I am assuming that this is an easter egg.
just ran into that "easter egg", wanted to make an instance with all the mods he plays with for season 4 and wanted to changed the picture since i already had an enderman icon in use. I'm guessing I'm in the wrong and the other instance icon is getting changed. You will get an error if you try and change the icon and it will delete the rest of your custom icons. On another note to the creator, Thanks for multimc!
I keep on getting this error whenever I try to run MultiMC 3.1:

Mine did not give me an error or delete the rest of the custom icons. It just did not change the icon, that is why I thought it was an easter egg as opposed to a defect.
i been having this issue when i make a new instance it relates to the sound files i think based on what it said in the error message. it doesnt give me an error when i make an instance with an existing minecraft that has the sound turned off. So i was wondering if anyone know how to fix this so i can play with sound.

I use this and the mod will work fine, but, I can't seem to get the custom sounds to work, either i'm putting AudioMod in the wrong order, or, I can't find out where to put the sounds that come with the mod, like in Mo' Creatures, there is a resources folder with a sound folder and the custom sounds in there and I tried a lot of different places and none seemed to activate the sounds, anyone help?
I am stumped, I do not see any directories that would cause the issue. You *could* try moving it out of the Users directory entirely (something like C:\Minecraft or C:\Games\Minecraft) and see if that works.
Okay may be a noob question but I'm using multi mc and trying to get sounds to work for EE2 and Mo Creatures but with the Mac version theres no auto add to resources like there is for Windows. I tried adding sound files old school by going into the resources folder and adding them into the Mod folder and also the Sound folder neither has worked. Yes I have Audio Mod installed.
That does blow my theory out of the water, but I did notice that when I first installed MultiMC it would not work on the desktop so i moved it elsewhere. You could try that. No idea why it would suddenly start complaining now.

this also happens when updating
I put mine in C:\Games\Minecraft, but something like that should work.
