HEYO! Quick little suggestion. Yesterday's little incident reminded me of the usefulness of offline mod for when Mojang's Auth server is down. That, LAN parties, and some internet connectivity issues is why I run my server in offline mode. So I was wondering if you could switch from using the custom username command to name everyone "Offline" and instead implement a minor mod to change
b.k = new ey("Player", "");
to
b.k = new ey(getParameter("username"), "");
Mind you I don't know the details, and this code is just copy-pasta'd from this site, but it seems entirely feasible. This should allow people to play minecraft in offline mod almost as if they were on online mode without turning multimc into a minecraft crack or allowing people to impersonate other users.
I've been using MultiMC for a while, without many major issues. It seems to be a great tool. I do have one suggestion/issue though - can you please add support for switches (command line options) for java?
I have a bug running vanilla Minecraft 1.3.1 on my mac, a Macbook Pro running OSX 10.8 Mountain Lion. This only happens when I am using MultiMC - it does not happen when I use the normal Minecraft Launcher.
The bug is that when I resize the window Minecraft is running in, the game does not adapt to the new window size. Instead the user interface elements just get bigger and go off of the screen.

What am i missing please.
Argh - i hate daughters mousepad - right click sorted - sorry peeps
Modloader goes in the jar, not the mods folder.

Can someone please help me? When 1.3.1 came out i got an error with my old instance that had Direwolf20's mods on it so i made a new instance and it was on version 1.3.1 so i put my old 1.2.5 jar in the folder and then started it up again and it was version 1.2.5 so i closed it and added all the mods again and started it up again and it said down at the bottom installing mods and after that it comes up with an error saying that the mods are too old. So my guess is that when it is installs the mods it also updates the minecraft.jar to the latest version but i am not sure. Can anyone tell me if i am doing something wrong or help me fix it? It would be appreciated.
Sorry if this does not make a lot of sense but that is the best i could explain it.
It doesn't download a new .jar every time it installs mods but it does add them to a vanilla backup that it keeps for each instance. From what you said however I have to ask, did your 1.2.5 jar already have mods installed in it?
If so, it tried to install all the .jar mods again when you ran it.
If it didn't have mods installed already (a vanilla(unmodified) minecraft.jar) then check the instance's bin folder for a backup of the .jar.
If there is one replace it with a vanilla 1.2.5 jar if you have one.
If you don't have one I can't think of a way to have MultiMC mod your jar for you. It should run ok with /mods folder mods but any .jar mods would be basically stuck installed unless they didn't override base classes and you can uninstall them.

When trying to log in, I now get "Got an invalid response from server". It used to work fine until now.
Assumed that it was on the server side but tested logging in with Mojang's launcher and could log in just fine.
Tried to download the newest version of MultiMC, but didn't fix the problem. Running MultiMC from the command line doesn't show any error messages (except for 2 gtk errors/warnings that always appear when starting MultiMC up).
I'm using the Windows version of MultiMC on Linux via Mono (which so far has always worked), since the Linux version still says "File does not contain a valid CIL image."
Edit: The same thing happens with the Mac version and it doesn't matter if it's an old or fresh instance.
PS: I searched this topic for that error message and found nothing, thus this report. Now I see the person above me reported it as well.
Getting a really weird error. When I try and login with any of my instances, i get a "Got an invalid response from server" message in the login window.
I checked Minecraft.net, it's up.
I launched my vanilla minecaft(not MultiMC), it logs in.
Re-downloaded MultiMC, created a new vanilla instance, get the same error.
News about the invalid response:
I replacing the vanilla .minecraft folder with that of an instance, and got the following error when trying to then log in with Mojang's launcher:
java.io.EOFException
at java.io.DataInputStream.readFully(DataInputStream.java:180)
at java.io.DataInputStream.readUTF(DataInputStream.java:592)
at java.io.DataInputStream.readUTF(DataInputStream.java:547)

at net.minecraft.GameUpdater.run(GameUpdater.java:241)
at net.minecraft.Launcher$1.run(Launcher.java:75)
Fatal error occured (2): null

Not sure why this is, because the previous .minecraft folder had once been from an instance as well (though I had used it successfully with the vanilla launcher before)
MultiMC worked fine before (like half an hour ago) but now it says 'invalid response from server'.
I even tried a vanilla instance, modded instance, taking a fresh .minecraft from minecraft launcher and putting it in an instance, nothing.
Is this because of a change in mc servers?

Now why does the above statement contradict itself when put into a signature? PM me if you find out.

P.S.: long time lurker first post. Blargafuss!
For anyone else who may be experiencing this bug, the following new mod worked like a charm for me as a workaround: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1405437-131-os-x-minecraft-mountain-lion-full-screen-mode-support-v02/

This feature has already been added in MultiMC 4

All of this was done with MultiMC beta 3.1.2.0.
You need to install .NET

Yeah, it worked 10min ago :/ But right now it doesn't... Is anything wrong with MultiMC? I hope this gets fixed
How can it NOT work now, fork cannot controll the login, (I don't think so) But Vanilla mc works...
