Sound works fine for me, using Magic Launcher 1.2.3 with a bunch of mods on Minecraft 1.6.4, check to be sure your volume is up in game? Not sure how ML could effect the loading of sounds, if the rest of the game works, sounds should work too.
But it's not. Volume is up in-game (not that daft not to check) so yeah, it's the launcher. Without it the sound works.

Very strange. I suggested the volume just to be sure, you never know :-)
Anyway, those of you with sound problems need to compare systems and mods, there's something that's probably common to you all that's causing the error. Do any of you have mods that change how sounds work? The ultimate test would be to launch the game with the same mods without using Magic Launcher, if sounds work, it's ML's fault somehow, if sounds don't work, it's a mod.

It has nothing to do with mods or anything like that, I can run just Magic Launcher clean, and I'd still be bugged. It's on Magic Launcher's side the problem is, not ours

In my case at least, I think something recently changed with vanilla Minecraft that throws Magic Launcher off course. I say this because, as hinted at in my previous post, MC164 and Magic Launcher 123 were working perfectly together. Then I decided to download MC172 and create a Magic Launcher folder / profile for it. Upon doing so was when my sound disappeared with Magic Launcher. What I don't get is that I didn't touch my Magic Launcher MC164 folder/profile. Yet sound is now gone there too (as well as with Magic Launcher MC162). MC162, 164, and 172 are also the ones that, for me, display the new icon mentioned by others (which wasn't there prior to downloading MC172). Magic Launcher 123 and older versions of MC still have sound AND the old icon on the task bar.
And as mentioned, reverting to ML122 makes no difference, at least not for me.
ADDENDUM: One thing I keep forgetting to mention is that prior to downloading MC172 I discovered there there was/is a newer version of the official MC Launcher than what I had used previously. That's what I used to DL MC172. Could that have something to do with it?

I tried running MC+Mods without ML and the sound works. Tried MC with ML vanilla and no sound. I even deleted the MC folder completely and did a fresh install and the same, with ML no sound without ML the sound works.

For me it worked in the past days (1.2.3 came out like 1-2 days ago i think) but today i decided to try the brand new snapshot and test out the Twitch integration (I used the MC launcher not ML) and after that the sound just went away and the icon changed from crafting table to an image that resembles the arrow keys on a keyboard. And as i said in the response above after that i tried a clean install and still the same.
I have also lost all of my sound. This change began happening after I opened the vanilla Launcher, it made some downloads, and I played on 1.7.2, When I went back to Magic Launcher, whether I play on 1.7.2, 1.6.4, 1.6.2 or lower, no sound. This includes with no mods, or with optifine.
As you can see, the top left icon is no longer a crafting table, it is something else, something wierd. When Starting it up, here is what I get:
*** MagicMinecraftLauncher 1.2.3 ***

That is what I get running is clean, and it worked until yesterday. Hope we can fix this or ill need to use something else .
The "icon of evil" seen in the upper left-hand corner is indeed what replaced my workbench at the time sound vanished. It must surely signify something?
As far as the icon goes, I just updated Minecraft on this machine to the latest snapshot (13w49a), and the icon has changed, I don't have Magic Launcher on this machine, so ML is not the culprit as far as the icon goes, blame Mojang for that. See this, it is apparently a known issue: https://mojang.atlassian.net/browse/MC-41528
Not a Magic Launcher Problem (NAMLP™)
I will test ML on my machine at home tonight, it could possibly be that the newest update from Mojang has thrown something in the mix that ML hasn't compensated for yet, and this is breaking sounds.

Yep, my sound randomly stopped working last night. I'm having the same problem as everyone else, the sound works with the normal launcher but not with ML, with or without mods. ML also has the strange icon in the taskbar.
Now I have to choose between Optifine and sound. And I can't play Hunger Games without either. xD
@ DB;
Both my vanilla (1.3.6 - with 1.7.2) and Magic (1.2.3 - with 1.6.4) work as advertised.
I still have an original \bin and the files associated with it including a ML1.4.7.jar.

Okay, WHAT?! I wanted shaders, and thats all. So I download this (thanks keralis :D) And direct it to my jar. It said I had no mods and since I didnt want to put every single one of my 62 mods into it manually, I just plopped my mod folder into my NEWLY LOADED (for this) minecraft.jar. Still nothing. So I install forge, direct it to that jar, and the mods are listed.... but it says "No forge" by most of them and "no modloader" by one [Which, strangely enough, works just fine with normal forge]. So heres my question. Since forge isnt excactly a mod as much as a platform, how do I let my magic launcher know that my current minecraft runs with forge, or install it into my MAGGIIIC LAUNCHEEER (sorry for some reason I felt like I had to say it like that)
Slow down, read, and follow, the installation instructions (including spoilers and links) on page 1, post 1!
if you properly install it Magic works with Forge!

Not for me, did you update to the latest snapshot with the regular launcher? After I did that, my ML game does not have sound as well. Before I did the update, sounds worked fine in my ML game. Probably something changed with the libraries again, and ML needs to be updated to use them or something.
And I know no one will read this, even in red and bold, but the icon is not a problem with Magic Launcher, it's a problem with vanilla, see this bug report on the Mojang support site. https://mojang.atlassian.net/browse/MC-41528

I think this is pretty much a given. Something changed with vanilla MC that ML hasn't yet taken account of. At least that's the most logical assumption. The "icon of evil" is simply the most obvious visual evidence that change indeed occurred. With so many reporting the same issue it's likely we'll get a fix soon. <crosses fingers>
