Hmm, is it possible/how would I write a bat file that always booted the newest version of magiclauncher I dropped into a folder, so I didn't constantly have to change the path of my MC shortcut (or rename the magiclauncher jar).
Hmm, is it possible/how would I write a bat file that always booted the newest version of magiclauncher I dropped into a folder, so I didn't constantly have to change the path of my MC shortcut (or rename the magiclauncher jar).
I just rename it to Magiclauncher.jar, and then when I download a new version I just replace the one I had. The name is still Magiclauncher.jar so I don't have to change it every time.
Hello, i really love this mod, but i seem to have a problem because it dosent install all the mods i put in, like the ethers unbeliveble shaders mod, it just says, no mods found
I had same trouble at first. the solution is surely in this thread somewhere, but I couldn't find it either when I searched, so here it is:
Mods that have folders inside the .zip don't work. The root directory inside the .zip needs to be equivalent to the root of minecraft.jar. The only folders in the .zip should be for files going inside folders in the .jar. So what you need to do is unzip your non-working mods, take the files out of the outermost folder, then rezip.
First of all I want to say that I think this is a great initiative and you have made a wonderful program already.
Second I want to tell you that the launcher caused a corruption of one of my worlds.
The case is that I assumed the minecraft.jar used would be the same as the one in the .minecraft folder set in a configuration. It turns out it isn't.
This misconception had disabled my mods and therefore all blocks and items added by these mods were removed from the map completely.
Although this is also caused by a mistake from my end, I wouldn't be surprised if this were to happen to other people as well.
I therefore suggest that you change the launcher so it will automaticly pick the minecraft.jar in the .minecraft folder selected for a certain configuration.
Some further suggestion for the usage of minecraft.jar files:
* allow the force update function on any minecraft.jar, not just the one in appdata. (and allow us to press the button, it is otherwise impossible to unmodify a minecraft.jar!)
* Use multiple jars for multiple configurations instead of one jar. Some mods (such as the water shader mod) have to be installed manually and therefore change the jar.
Well since most of the mods I was using have been updated so I can get a fresh 1.1 .jar I decided to try this out. Didn't want to try it with a .jar that already had modloader, modloadermp, forge, etc. installed.
I think I am putting in the modloader, modloadermp, etc. correctly but when I put in forge it says "2 errors" by it. What are the errors?
I hit "Test" then "View log" and this is the log.

how is one supposed to use the new custom base folder functionality for mac in 0.9.6? No matter what folder I point to, I get an incomplete error message:
Last folder name has to be "Library/Application Suppor..."
...and then the dialog box cuts off the rest of the message
my goal is to be able to actually switch between various builds (1.1, 12w06a, etc), and until now, it seemed impossible, as simply picking a different minecraft.jar but the standard base folder didn't work (always resulted in a billion "invalid framebuffer operation - GL error")
When using the custom memory allocation option, it works but the actual memory available is always a lower value than what is set in the launcher (however increasing the value does increase the value shown in-game with F3).
It works, but I have to raise the value and check it in-game several times to get the actual value I want.
Also, there is some bug where the launcher window is blank/grey when I start it. I can hover my mouse over the area where the login/setup/option buttons are to get them to show, but everything else is still not showing. Restarting the launcher sometimes fixes the problem.
put "ModLoader.zip", "ModLoaderMP 1.1 v2.1zip" and "minecraftforge-client-1.3.2.10.zip" in and the status of minecraftforge-client is a big red "no Forge" seems to work but why am I getting an error? But there is nothing in the log.

Hello, i really love this mod, but i seem to have a problem because it dosent install all the mods i put in, like the ethers unbeliveble shaders mod, it just says, no mods found
Your the mod files are probably in a sub folder inside the archive. Had this happen with a couple all I did was pull out the files and create a new archive with only the mod files in it. Seems to work fine. A lot of mods will do this so open up the archive and check it probably has some instructions and/or other files that it needs.
Anyone else had any luck getting this to work with snapshots?
I have a clean install in my .minecraft folder and can run the snapshot by renaming it minecraft.jar and not using the magiclauncher but no matter what I try on the magiclauncher I cannot get it to load.
All the snapshots work fine with Magic Launcher, no problems at all.
Any errors in the log?
When using the custom memory allocation option, it works but the actual memory available is always a lower value than what is set in the launcher (however increasing the value does increase the value shown in-game with F3).
It works, but I have to raise the value and check it in-game several times to get the actual value I want.
The Magic Launcher uses the standard java option "-Xmx1024M" to set the limit.
Minecraft is just showing less than the real limit.
What you should do is have different Minecraft folders for those complicated mods, that way you get a different .jar and save files so can avoid these sorts of errors.
If you do this with magic launcher it will still use the default jar. You can select another minecraft.jar for a configuration, but I want it to automaticly use the minecraft.jar in the .minecraft folder selected.
The problem is not the Magic Launcher but the way java works.
The memory field of magic launcher tells java the maximum memory the java VM is allowed to use, period, minus a percentage. This value is java's way of helping to prevent a java VM from going nuts and consuming all ram. I want to say the default value is 64mb or perhaps 128mb.
Inside minecraft you see the used memory which is a how much memory minecraft is actively using + stuff that needs to be garbage collected so this value will be fluctuating a lot.
The allocated memory is how much memory up to the maximum java is currently giving to the java VM. This value will change some.
What does this all mean? That we have a PICNIC. There is nothing sp614x can change to "solve" your problem. Well at least from what I could tell of your problem. I had to skip around to even be able to read anything you typed. I can't help but think you wasted your time making that video. 3 screenshots and a paragraph would have been much faster for you and anyone even thinking about attempting to watch that 10 minute video. Especially since you can't read anything in the minecraft window at 320p. I'm sorry to be so critical of your video but it is a major pet peeve to watch a video of someone TYPE a message. It is just beyond my comprehension why people do that other than to troll.
I do like your background though. I think you are the first person I've seen to have a matching avatar/desktop background.
This is what comes up when I try to launch the game using Magic Launcher so please help:)

"Allocated memory" shows how much memory Minecraft currently uses.
The maximum is 1024 (Minecraft reports 989), but is currently not used by the game.
