I'm trying to download Simply Horses mod but I don't know how to use magic launcher. Someone please help?(:
Had a look - looks interesting, but remember this is a work in progress - so even if you follow these steps it still may not work
(I can't try ATM as I'm in work & they block Mediafire download for some reason)
1) Download Magic & place it somewhere safe (I've got it in my /.minecraft/ folder but you may have it anywhere you like)
2) Download latest Forge for your version of Minecraft
3) Download the Simply Horses MOD
3a) if you like you can also download Optifine
I usually have a subfolder (e.g. '/.minecraft/mods/ModsFor1.4.7/') for mods for each version of Minecraft
4) Place Forge and Simply Horses Downloads (& Optifine if you downloaded it) into this folder
5) Start up Magic
6) Click on [Setup]
7) Click [Add], browse to the folder you stored the MODs & select 'Forge' Mod
8) Click [Add], browse to the folder you stored the MODs & select 'Simply Horses' Mod
8a) If you also downloaded Optifine, Click [Add], browse to the folder you stored the MODs & select 'Optifine' Mod
9) Click [OK], Login & test to see if it works
If it does - Congratulations
If it doesn't - you may get a error log.. you could post it here & we'll look to see if Magic is at fault, or - because the MOD is 'Work-in-Progress' it MAY be a problem with the mod itself & should be posted on his thread instead
EDIT: FYI - Back home & I've tried it out... it worked for me
When you install the MOD's in Magic you should have something like
(Ignore the Profile name - I made a new one so that I don't ruin my existing setup)
You may notice that 'Simply Horses' shows as 'No Mods Found' - you can ignore that & here's proof that it works
You know I think I've have decided to give in a use this. It will be so much helpful cause I want to add a lot of mods cause I want to do a lets play and I trying to find things to do to make the lets play fun.
For some reason, whenever i open the launcher, i get a malicious URL warning from my Avast. Is something up?
I got the same thing. It's trying to load an image from pixel.quantserve.com, which I'm guessing is a media server for Quantcast (something like Google Analytics, apparently).
I don't think it's harmful, just annoying - but don't take my word for it. I have no idea why MagicLauncher is trying to load this, even if it is within the embedded webpage. Either way, if Avast blocked it you should be fine.

I can't log on to Minecraft and can only play offline for some reason. The only mod I have loaded is the most recent version of OptiFine, and it still will not log on if I remove OptiFine.

Couple of things - Can you play online using the normal official launcher ??
I see you have a lot of 'connection reset' - could it be the server(s) are/were down,
If you couldn't go online with the official launcher - this could be the reason
However I know that things like Antivirus/Firewall can block internet access, as well as certain window versions can cause problems... another thing is JAVA v7 uses IPv6 instead of IPv4 for web access & that can cause problems
It would be nice, if the magic launcher would detect the classes folder in the zombes modpack archive, because it says no mods detected or so.
Thanks!
Is it a Forge mod? I've noticed that MagicLauncher sometimes says "no mods found" for some mods, but when you load up the game they were actually loaded just fine. If it still doesn't load, you could make sure the .zip extraction didn't create another useless directory layer. Other than that it's more likely a problem with the mod itself...
There's your problem: You got rid of ModLoader. Install and enable it, and Forge should work fine. The load order that you want, is:
1. ModLoader
2. Forge
3. Optifine
Other mods can load AFTER Forge and Modloader. Also, use Forge #518.
I didn't need ModLoader, I first removed Optifine and Forge and installed Forge first, then I added Optifine and it's all working without ModLoader. Thanks for the tips anyway.
I have this magic launcher running on multiple machines working just fine (windows 7 and 8) I am only using optifine however. I have a minecraft folder on my root of c: with minecraft.exe in it, and the optifine.zip file in there. I have the magic launcher .exe file on the desktop. I have them all configured with 1GB of RAM. I will perhaps try this FORGE and see if I can break it!
I have downloaded this for a long time but suddenly, I got an message from my antivirus(avast) that it contains malware in its url. Is it true that it contains malware/virus?
I don't think so or at least the copy I have, downloaded a few weeks back is clean. I checked it with Windows8 defender and as backup avast on-line and it came back clean.

Can you help me fix this?
for example..
> What are you Testing ?
> Are you just running Magic & you are getting this as soon as it starts up ?
-- or have you added any MODs & tried running the game & getting this....
> If you added MODs - Which Mods are those ?
>What operating system are you running ?
-- Is it 32-Bit or 64-Bit ??
> Do you know the JAVA version you are using ?
> What version of Minecraft are you running ?
> Has it been pre-modded already ?
> Have you tried (after backing up) a 'force update' using the official launcher ?
