I don't even know if this has to do with Magic Launcher but..
Magic Launcher and Minecraft all work fine and just when a spider shows up and I kill it, my game crashes without even showing an error log or something just simply crashing. I get out of it through the task manager and ending the javaw.exe process. Can you help?

Well its unlikely it is Magic if the problem also happens with the official launcher as well...
One possible reason it happening with both launchers is if Minecraft.jar has been premodded somehow....
You can usually tell this from within magic - select the [Setup] & right near the top it may say something like 'Minecraft.jar (modded)'
If it does - I suggest backup the existing minecraft.jar file & doing a 'force update' using the official launcher to make sure you have a totally clean version.
(Even if it doesn't say 'modded' I still suggest backing up & doing a force update as this will this help eliminate Minecraft actually being the problem)
Run the game & see if it still crashes with both launchers... if it does then we'll know it's not Minecraft, a MOD, Magic or the official launcher that are causing a problem, so the problem most probably would lie elsewhere
As for logs - although no logs actually show up, you may still have log files made when it crashes.
Firstly look in '/.minecraft/' folder (& any sub folders) & move all files that end in '.log' somewhere else.Just make sure none exist in any minecraft folders.
Run the game & when it crashes - look again in the minecraft folders to see if any NEW '*.log' files have appeared. If so post them here (in spoiler tags preferably) & we'll get a better idea what MIGHT be causing it
FYI - Spoiler tags are like this.....
your log files here
EDIT: Does it crash on ONLY killing spiders - or any MOB's ??
Could be a corrupted [Spider] sound files perhaps ??

Hello, I have the Same Problem!I have Windows 8 too... Please help me! the offline modus goes well and with the normal minecraft i can play online! Thanks!
(Sorry for my bad English ,i learn it , but i can german better xD)
I THINK it's something to do with Java 7 tying to use IPv6 Web addresses (JAVA 6 didn't use this standard) and Win 7 (& 8) has problems with this for some reason
There is a way to force JAVA to use IPv4 as found in this post . perhaps this is your problem ???
Give it a try & see what happens
@CannonFoddr
Dude thanks for the advice
About the .jar, the jar/zip (My 1.4.7 is in a .zip format, is that okay?) is fine.
There is no modded thing that shows up but its clean. I only mod my game through the use of Magic Launcher
I already force updated it but still crashes on the spider/cave spider kills @.@
tried it again on the original launcher and forced updated it also, still same result @.@
For the Log, dude sorry but I really can't find any in my .minecraft files.. The only log I have here is the "ForgeModLoader-client-0/1"
I don't think it has something to do with the sounds because I played it via VLC. and it played just fine. Maybe has something to do with the class stuff(?)
BTW, what I have observed is that when you kill the spider.. the game freezes/crashes but time on minecraft still advances (eg. minecraft in-game morning, crashes, stay on crashed screen for some time, stop the process, reboot minecraft via magic launcher, minecraft in-game evening) and sometimes it drops exp and items..
Question, are there different files for exp and mob drops per mob?
@CannonFoddr

I'm not sure.. I've never known the minecraft.jar being in a zip format before
I assume we are talking about the same minecraft file...
Inside '/.minecraft/bin/' there should be a minecraft.jar - this is the actual game code
It is this that any launcher runs, whether it's magic or the official launcher
There is no modded thing that shows up but its clean. I only mod my game through the use of Magic Launcher

Well this definitely proves it's not Magic at fault - a clean minecraft installation failing in both

Hmm that only shows up if you use Forge.. but if you're crashing with the official launcher then No mods means No Forge Log
I don't think it has something to do with the sounds because I played it via VLC and it played just fine
It could still be a sound related problem.
IIRC - VLC uses it's own built in drivers to play files, whereas it might be a sound driver that Windows or Java is trying to use that's causing the problem. Although why only on Spiders kills I don't know
I don't know if this will work - try turning both music and sounds OFF in minecraft & try killing spiders - see if it crashes..
I don't know if actually turning OFF actually prevents Minecraft from actually playing the files - or if it just sticks the volume down to 'zero' (Can anyone confirm this or not ??)
but if your game doesn't crash, I would guess it DOES prevent MC from playing sound & it points towards a sound problem somewhere else
I'm pretty sure, since you did a force update - any corrupted sound files would've been overwritten & so will be OK
@CannonFoddr
Dude! I guess the problem is with the sound stuff.. turned the sound settings to off and played it both in modded and clean, both worked.
Thanks for the help dude! but i guess I'll be playing Minecraft like a deaf guy :/ Any suggestions dude on fixing the sound thingy?

Well, the 'usual' advice when it comes to Window problems is 'make sure you have latest drivers for.....'
However I don't think it's your sound card that is at fault, since you can hear sound when using VLC etc....
I know I had problems with sound with Minecraft when going near 'Lava' - the game stuttered....
the way I fixed it (I think) was to update the lwjgl library - in particular the OpenAL32.dll and OpenAL64.dll
You can get the latest from http://www.lwjgl.org/ - but I suggest (as always) backup your existing files before you replace them, but I will warn you I had trouble with the latest version (2.8.5) with Shift Clicking in the inventory - so I suggest trying older versions first, Unfortunately I cannot remember where I got them from
EDIT: Found them .. You can get older versions here
So trying to add ars magica mcore.jar to the lancher it normally is a core mod, I have it in the internal area and it acts like I don't have it installed any idea how to fix this?
So trying to add ars magica mcore.jar to the lancher it normally is a core mod, I have it in the internal area and it acts like I don't have it installed any idea how to fix this?
Simple - put it in the '/coremod/' folder like it should be .....
As long as you are using FORGE, this will automatically look in '/coremods/' folder & add anything that is in there to minecraft.jar (not sure if Modloader does this)...You don't need to use Magic to add them
As long as you add Forge with Magic - all your Coremods 'should' be automatically loaded in
I helped someone else out that had Mods that needed to go into /coremods/ & got it to work
- perhaps you could follow what I did (but replacing your 'ars magica mcore.jar' file instead of NEI/Chicken/Tweak mods I used)
You can play offline, but you need to have Minecraft already downloaded. You can also just buy the game; it costs half of the average non-Indie AAA game.
I think he needs a 'yes' or 'no'. In that case yes it works.
I have a question, when attempting to install Forge via MagicLauncher, in the status column it says 'not compatible'. I've even tried versions back to 6.0.1.355. I have gottten a new copy of minecraft.jar and gotten rid of ModLoader and MCPatcher. It still doesn't work.
Yes you need premium to get the game and files needed.
For non legit versions, email mojang for help, just let them know you did not purchase minecraft and having just a terrible time running it with mods and would like some help.....I am sure they will be more then willing to take time from completing work on updating the game that those of us took the time to purchase it and support their work on this fantastic work of art/game.

btw...magic launcher...great!
There is just one feature that I miss; Relative paths
Btw, is the source code available anywhere or is this closed source?
