Still, I'm not getting anywhere. It doesn't let me open the files I wish. I can't even help myself with online tutorials because all they show is the person editing their worlds in the "saves" file, like, it's all prepared. That would even be enough information for me, since my worlds in Minecraft are already showing up in the "saves" file that is already there when I open NBTExplorer, but that is not the case, since I want to edit worlds in Technic Launcher, not in Minecraft itself, and those worlds don't show up in the initial "saves" file.
The Mac-native version is quite a bit older than the current Windows release. It should still work with worlds through 1.12 but there's a hard break starting with 1.13. My toolchain to work with the mac version went away for a few years so that was that.

Nevermind, I just downloaded some of the modpack mods and made a world inside Minecraft, and I can easily use NBTExplorer on it. Thanks for trying to help though :v
Hello, I am using mac and I edited my Minecraft world to have increased diamond spawn attempts and increased mob spawner spawn attempts. I have been told that I need to revert these back to normal to be able to update my world to 1.13 when it comes out. I am not sure if I am missing something obvious but I do not know how to change these. Help please. Here is an image of where I am at.
Hey, this is a long shot - and may have been answered already, but is there an easy way to check which region/chunk may have A LOT of entries/entities - or has been recently updated?
I am using NBTExplorer to help fix the dreaded 'Tried to read NBT tag that was too big' error.
I've managed to narrow down the region file, but not the chunk! I am going to peer through each folder, but if there is a way to do this more easily, please let me know! Thanks for the program still, it's been very helpful. :3
I found an issue using "replace" tool editing a region file. I wanted to modified biomes of all chunks in r.20.0 mca whose "xPos<643 and zPos<7".
The Search Rules: | Replacement Tags:
- xPos < 642 | - BiomeReplaced: 3
- zPos < 7 | - <i> Biomes: 256 integers
When I click "Find Next", I can locate a valid tag meeting the search rules. But when I click the first "Replace" button, only tag "BiomeReplaced" is added or modified, but "Biomes" didn't change.
And when I clicked the second "Replace" button, it scanned the whole file, but only a few tags meeting the search rules were modified as Replacement Tags.
Sometimes I click the second "Replace" button, only to find a raised error:
NullReferenceException

I am using NBTExplorer 2.8.0 in Windows 10 64bit, editing an .mca file of Minecraft Java Edition 1.13.
When I last used this program you had to type, for example, §6Honor, to change the color and name of items, but that no longer works. How do I change the color and name of items now-a-days?
Having some trouble with the Mac version. I don't seem to be able to delete or edit anything; those options are greyed out, even when I've selected the chunks I want to delete. (I'm trying to delete chunks in my 1.12 world so they regenerate in 1.13 when I update.) Is there some other step I need to take to be able to delete? I've also tried using the Windows version with mono, but can't get it to run at all.
I am trying to edit the PlayerData in a 1.13 world save. I want to copy the inventory and enderitems from one 1.13 save to a New 1.13 world. I copy the parts of the file, save the changes and all looks good (new 1.13 world has same number of items). I open the New World, the inventory and enderitems reverts to what I started with. I swear I did this with a 1.12 world and it worked. I quite mInecraft before making changes.
I gathered that. What i find confusing is that the changes to the files were real. So how does the Minecraft restore me "back" to my original state after the playerdat has been changed? Especially when I had something in my inventory and it retained that info.
I use NBTExplorer to edit PC, Java, Single Player Inventories. But, I would like to make the font used by NBTExplorer larger. Does anyone know how to do this? I don't want to change my screen resolution or anything else, just the font size used by NBTExplorer.

I wondered why the frisbee kept getting larger and larger, and then it hit me!

It worked for me, 1.8.3 inventory to a new 1.13 world.

Then navigate to the directory where your launcher keep the saves.
I still don't understand your issue.

You could try instead running the Windows version on your mac with mono (see: https://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding-java-edition/minecraft-tools/1262665-nbtexplorer-nbt-editor-for-windows-and-mac?comment=266).
Another way to open files and folders (on Windows) is to simply drag the file or folder into the NBTExplorer window.
Mods I Develop: Garden Stuff -- Storage Drawers -- Hunger Strike
Tools I Develop: NBTExplorer -- Substrate
My issue is that I want to edit worlds in Technic Launcher, but I'm not able to do that.
Ok. If my problem doesn't get solved, I will just try using the Windows version in a VM.
Why? Anybody holding your hands?
I just can't find the file containing the worlds in Technic Launcher
Ask on their support channels.
