I'm not sure if this is happening to anyone else. But every time I try to open Minecraft up it gets stuck on the screen that says "Done Loading" w/ the green bar at the bottom! I really want to try this out but I can't find what I'm doing wrong!
Buildcraft doesn't work with that, i'm not sure i it's because of your mod manager or because BC is still alpha in 3.0
forgot one important thing, works beatifully
Hey Hippoplatimus, what did you change in the mod loader class file to make it compatible with mod manager? I would like to be able to keep the class file updated myself whenever a newer version of minecraft comes out. :smile.gif:
I changed it so ModLoader searched the whole classpath for mods, instead of just minecraft.jar.
Unfortunately I don't have the original source, but this modified code is in the "init" function, and the first and last two lines are the same in the original.
Also, thank you very much for the installer! I had been meaning to make an installer, but I guess you beat me to it. I mirrored it in the first post; I hope that's OK.
No problem, thanks for making Mod Manager haha. :smile.gif:
Also Im not sure why but using mod loader in externalmods with the modified classfile is less compatible with mods than directly puting modloader into the minecraft.jar itself.
And im sure you could make a better installer than me, Ive had to use different methods for each operating system, C# for windows and a bash script inside an executable .app container for mac. If I was good enough with java I could make a version that could run on all the operating systems without having to make it from scratch.
On the plus side making OS specific versions means the directory paths are always set correctly, otherwise I would have to make a browse button and make users find their .minecraft/bin folder
EDIT: the link to the installer on the OP is wrong, the link takes me to the page about jeb being the new lead developer :tongue.gif:
What do you mean it's less compatible? If you install ModLoader into minecraft.jar, it still won't load the mods in the externalmods folder unless it's patched.
There's actually some java code to detect what system the user is running and choose the right directory automatically. The code is in the mod manager (because I need to locate game.jar to actually start Minecraft); I copied it from the launcher, which also needs to find the Minecraft folder.
Also, I fixed the link. Oops.

I made pistons. You might be interested in my mod manager.
I can't seem to get the Minecraft Patcher's Randommobs mod to work with this. I can't seem to find any other way to install randommobs without the patcher so... I tried patching a fresh minecraft jar, then I deleted meta-inf, I renamed the jar to game, and then I put your mod manager file in the bin. If I run it it black screens after login. When I remove the Randommobs patched game.jar and put in a fresh unmodded jar it runs with your mod but then I can't have random mobs... Any suggestions?
I did try and find Randommobs not attached to the patcher but even the author says to use the patcher.

Thanks for the great mod, this really makes it easier to experiment with all the mods out there.
I have run into a couple problems with two mods:
-First mod is Inventory Tweaks. If I enable this through ModManager, when I load a world it gets to the 'Saving Chunks' text and Minecraft hangs. This is Modloader mod.
-The second is What's My Light Level, when this mod is enabled Minecraft loads just fine but the mod is not functioning. This is not a Modloader mod. Disregard this one. I moved the mod up so it loads before the Modloader mods and it now functions just fine.
Don't know if you'd have any insight into these issues but I thought I'd bring them to your attention.

This isn't what I've experienced. I've been able to use the unpatched modloader by installing it into the jar with no issues, but have had issues when I tried to put it in the externalmods folder. Now, I don't know exactly how mod manager works, but my suspicion is that by putting it into the jar itself it's delaying the search until after mod manager has done the other loading, which lets modloader "see" the mods as if they were in the jar.

So there I was, knee deep in cobblestone for the fifth time that day...

I don't think that's the case. ModLoader looks for mods by actually scanning the contents of the jar. The Mod Manager doesn't modify the actual files in the jar, it just allows the mods to be loaded with the jar. If you can get ModLoader working (and loading mods) by installing it into the jar, then let me know.
The minecraft.net servers have been down for approximately 2 hours and now Mod Manager isn't working anymore, there's a blackscreen after logging in.
I can't explain that, before the maintenance Mod Manager was working, it's weird. Is anyone experiencing the same issue ?
Thanks for your answers.
Did Minecraft get updated (or did you install the weekly build)? If so, you need to fully reinstall Mod Manager. Remember to delete META-INF in minecraft.jar/game.jar.

I've currently got it working with modloader and guiapi installed in game.jar, modloadermp, forge, audiomod, IDResolver, and creative list in the external mods folder. So, several mods that require mod loader and it's working fine. Did the same thing on 1.8, even.
Maybe when I have some time to learn some modding stuff I'll have a better explanation why this works.

I'm having the same problem too.
adds more than just classes... just fyi for everyone D:
How did you get buildcraft to work? pm me please.

That is a minecraft launcher bug most probably.

I think it's never going to work :C
