Before I try this, is it possible to set where the .minecraft/bin folder is? I have multiple versions of Minecraft installed and I don't want it to affect the main copy.
Hey, I was told by one of my developers that you are in search of a host? I think we may be able to help eachother out.
I just so happen to have a webserver where you can host all of your files (and track their downloads too). You can use FTP, which will allow for fast, easily managed transfer. I'll send you a PM with the details.
The thing isn't working :tongue.gif:
I tried opening a prehaloween world and got biomes and everything- but with alpha up in the corner version # thing.
I'd post a screenshot but i cant do it from save files.

EDIT: I don't like having to force people to download all the patches every time I update it. So I'm thinking about adding an update feature to it so people can just have it download the new versions for them. But to do this, I need to be able host the updates at a place that offers direct URLs. I would use dropbox, but I'm using a free account and I don't think they would like so much traffic. There's also the possibility of me hosting it on my vps. However, it only has 512 MB of RAM and most of that is already being used.
So I am asking the community for suggestions of where to host the new updates so that they can be automatically downloaded for the users (Don't worry, it will give you a choice of whether you want to update or not) Any input would be great.
You could try ge.tt, it seems to be rather designed for that, and allows direct linking (and even has some sort of API you might be able to use).
I seem to have an error. Every time I try to use the god damn thing, it comes up eith this message:
import mcnostalgialib, os, getpass, traceback
print "******** - MCNostalgia 2.0.1 - ********\n"
mcn = mcnostalgialib.MCNostalgia()
print "This program at its current version will assume that your \npatches are in the patches directory."
print "It is set to patch the minecraft files in \nyour .minecraft" + os.sep + "bin folder."
print "Once you press enter, I will list the versions available for \nyou to downgrade to. This list is generated from the files \nthat you have in your patches directory"
print "Your patches directory is set to:", mcn.patchdir
print "Your .minecraft bin folder has been detected to be:", mcn.bindir
print "Press enter to see the list of downgrade possibilities."
getpass.getpass("")
available = mcn.getAvailableVersions()
for number, version in enumerate(available) :
print number + 1, version
valid = False
while not valid :
try :
selectedversion = input("Please type the correspoding number on the left of the version you want to downgrade to and then press enter.\n")
valid = True
version = available[selectedversion - 1]
except KeyboardInterrupt :
print ""
quit()
except :
print "That is not a valid choice number. Please try again"
if mcn.checkOrig(version) :
print "Thank you. Now patching to version", version
try :
if mcn.patchTo(version) :
print "Patching finished. Have a nice day!"
else :
print "Patching failed, if you get stuck at the 'Done Loading' screen, this is why. You probably didn't have a fresh vanilla minecraft before you started."
except :
traceback.print_exc()
print "An error has accord while running this program. Please paste the above traceback into a code box in a spoiler box on a new post on the MCNostalgia thread. Preferrably, however, is that you come onto IRC and ask about it and provide a link to the traceback."
else :
print "Error: The files in", mcn.bindir, "are not for the current version or are not vanilla."
print "Please delete your .minecraft bin folder and run the launcher again to get a vanilla minecraft of the current version"
print getpass.getpass("Press ENTER to exit.")
I've reinstalled the game many a time, but still nothing helps. Any suggestions?
Yes.

Trying to get the technic pack installed.

You asked for an Alpha version, 1.8.1 is a beta version. Heres the URL for minecraft.net crawls from this year.

Or he could host it on my personal webserver... Unlimited data transfer, unlimited file space, 24/7 access and 100% no restrictions...
I sent you a PM, dude. Still waiting for a response.
